Galecaller

This is public roleplay between Philip Smallwood and Edelyn Luitolf in Tol Goldora.

Scene 1 - The Request

Philip and his men disembark in the port of Golden Farrow after returning from the razing of Mimiravair, pockets full of gold and swords all bloody.

Philip, ensuring that all of his men are set, pays the captain a few extra gold, for the boat was commandeered out of Freke's Deep and it was a long journey back, no doubt. The captain of the ship nodded in appreciation and the crew went off in search of provisions and whoresin anticipation of the upcoming journey home.

As Philip and his men started to head back to the Lighthouse District, Philip had a better idea. He decided to head over to the temple of the Tidemother, to give thanks for the safe, albeit slow, journey. As he was walking up to the temple, he noticed Tidespeaker Edelyn outside the temple.

"Tidemaster! Tidemaster! Can I have a word?" Philip shouted. He quickly walked over to the Tidemaster.

"Tidemaster, we recently returned from Astrum lands, and while the journey was safe, it was entirely too slow. Since all of my men bow believe in the Tidemother, I was wondering if you knew of any Galecallers who might be available to serve as my Captain? I fear that if we continue with a Galecaller, the Tidemother may not look favorably upon us for future campaigns, and that simply wouldn't do."

Scene 2 - The Response

Tidemaster! Tidemaster!

The voice was faint but growing. Edelyn turned to face the direction of the sound, raising her eyes to shield them from the sun. Running up, getting closer and closer, she saw a man that she did not recognize off-hand. Few approached her personally these days and she had started to wonder if the position of Tidespeaker truly was a curse or not. The first one disappeared without a trace, the next was put into a magical coma, and now people avoided her at times unlike before when she was a mere stomrsage, and surely this was no different. He was saying Tidemaster, of all things, which was not something that she had ever been called before.

"Can I have a word?"

The man shouted once he was closer, changing from a quick run to a brisk walk. He came right up to her, much to her shock, asking if she had known and Galecallers. He started to babble on about needing one because the ships from Astrum were too slow. Wanted one for his captain. Edelyn quickly found herself wondering why the man would even leave port without one if he were a follower of the Tidemother, but perhaps he was new to the faith. That would explain addressing her as Tidemaster.

"A Galecaller, for your ship?" Edelyn asked, still trying to make sense of the situation at hand, "I suppose I can help you out with that. Come with me."

The couple moved toward the temple, which was being newly renovated, being decorated with various forms of sea themes such as fish, shells, coral, and the like. A few turns in the temple, and they found themselves in the aspect of wind. On the back wall was a mural with a scene depicting a large vessel on the sea, wind full in its sails. In front of it sat a lone man, a bright white cloak pulled around him.

"That there is Haldred, one of the senior Galecallers." Edelyn spoke bluntly and flatly, pointing over to the man. "He can go with you as your captain. Be warned, is a bit of a crotchety old man, but I think that is because he misses being out on a campaign. Most Gallecallers tend to either be former warriors who had to become priests, or current warriors the fill the role as an extra duty in thanks to the Tidemother. I'll let you figure out which he is."
