Kaylan Rothach, Noble of Enweil

History

Taken to Bellatura as a child by her mother, they original hailed from the southern regions of Atamara. Kaylan is the bastard child of one of the Barony Raiders, a man now long missing and presumed dead. His brother is Scott Rothach, head of the Rothach household in Apelen. While in Bellatura she grew up, learning the harsh ways of being a peasant in the deadly and dangerous lands that are rarely tamed even at the best of times. Her mother always kept her fathers name a secret, though she did possess one item that belonged to him, a gift of sorts perhaps to show he was not truly barbaric (that, or he merely forgot it, but then that's not very romantic, now is it?). It was a crested ring, a nobles crest of his family. An Eagle displayed with wings inverted proper. When her mother died of age and the many hard years of labour and living on the land, Kaylan was prepared to continue her simple life. Unfortunately a rather large (528 man) Horde of Undead had other plans for the region, and started turning it into a desolate waste.

Thus, Kaylan picked up a trusty (albeit rusty) smithing hammer from the ruined smithy (damned undead) and made her way out of Pahk, though it soon shortly fell rogue to the brutal massacres by the undead. This is how she began her hunt of the undead and monsters. . .

After many years of hunting beasts and undead Kaylan eventually began to gather the ominous Portal Stones in large numbers. There she learned of their potential qualities from local sages and the elders of many small villages. She began to speak to the stewards of Handkor, the ruler of Enweil and eventually was directed to close these "portals". Avoiding the Daimon presence that lurked around the borders of Enweil she managed to reach Mio Dupaki after many weeks of travel. The Stones she had gathered refused to work, merely creating a disturbance in the sky that she followed to the South East. Then in Mio Dupaki she found what she sought -- the Portal Stones worked, sealing a gate that lead to a horrific land of death and chaos.

She reported the occurence to the Lords of Grehk and Enwiel, earning promises of gold and land for her efforts. An astonishing reward for someone with no Noble blood. Then she was contacted by a Lady from Grehk and a Lord from Avalon. Both spoke of the seal she used -- an old ring given to her by her mother. They said they had seen the Seal upon it before, it was of a Noble House that resided in a land she had never heard of, the Far East. Nighthelm.

Both Lord and Lady promised to send word to the House Rothach, that perhaps she was one of their family. Or perhaps merely to report the theft of a signet ring of theirs. She was not sure.

Many months passed and Kaylan provided portal stones to other adventurers who made their way North, seeking to seal Portals in the mountains. She never heard from them again, though rumours spoke of failed attempts and the dreadful deaths of any adventurers who travelled north.

Without the stones she had gathered there was little chance for her to close the portals so she continued to travel and look for them in the Eastern Lands of Enweil and of Avalon. Then she came across a Sage who crafted for her a magical scroll which she presented to Lord Alex of the Enwiel nobility. With her recommendations she had achieved the adventurer was well set to meet the Rothach house representative who travelled to meet her. A steward for the family he came bearing many names of relatives and potential fathers.

However upon hearing of her mother's name he knew who she was -- daughter to a man long dead, whose wife was believed killed. With proof of this the signet ring, her mothers name, and a host of accomplishments only achievable by those of worthy Noble Blood the family accepted back their lost Daughter.

Taking up her rightful place in Enwiel as a noble of house Rothach she has worked hard, demonstrating her lethal skill with the blade at many tournements and fighting with infantry in her preferred many of combat.
