Nils Björn
Quiet, and always seeming to be associated with the troubles caused by his older brother, Nils never QUITE seemed to be at fault. Like his brother, Nils was never comfortable in the Björn family who valued hard work over dreams of glory. He, like Leif, desired power and glory for himself but unlike his brother felt that Atamara did not allow him the chance for upward movement that he greatly desired. As such, when his brother Leif decided to leave home, Nils snuck out and made his way to Eaglin where he stowed away on several ships down the river to Calis. Here, he bartered passage on a trading vessel heading to one of the newly discovered lands, eventually landing in the City of Madina on Dwilight.
Once in Madina, he was taken under the wing of a local Baron. Here, Nils was shown the ropes of how to manage an estate in the fresh young duchy and made a name for himself in fighting Monsters. It was after a particularly bloody battle in the province of Lugagun where he met Baldur of the House of Mekorig and became entranced with his dream of founding a new nation to the north of the Continent. Seeing his opportunity to forge a name for himself, Nils joined Baldur and his fellow nobles on their experiment.
However, during the voyage, both Baldur and his fellow soldier M'oko de Succio disappeared during their trip to scout out the lands they wished to colonise. Without the leaders of his movement present, Nils found himself lost in Shadovar, directionless. Seeking income to support himself, he pledged himself to the Duchess of Port Nebel. While he takes his oath very seriously, he nonetheless finds the lifestyles of wanton violence and barbary of many of his fellow Shadovaran nobles and knights utterly disgusting.
With the recent upsurge in Monster activity on the Shadovaran island, Nils has earned great honour fighting in both Port Nebel and at the Qubel Lighthouse. However, in one of the battles in Port Nebel, Nils' unit was destroyed in battle and he himself suffered grevious wounds to his face and torso which will leave glorious scars enough to make even the Shadovarans envious.
With the taking of Raveil Island into the greater Shadovaran Empire, Nils pledged himself to the new Duke of Port Raviel in hopes of being able to increase the production levels of that region. Here, he came to know Edith, the Marchioness of Raviel where they discussed their shared dream of Dwilight.
In the Spring and Summer of 2008, Shadovar was invaded from all angles by Monsters. During this fight, Nils served as a sentry on Raviel Island providing intellegence for the Armies of Shadovar while the bulk of the forces took on the invaders on Nebel Island. Unfortunately, during the Shadovaran Monster Wars, Port Raviel revolted against the Shadovaran government while the Army was battling on Nebel Island, separating Nils from his estate. Taking part in the Battle of Port Nebel against the hoard there, Nils lost his entire unit in the Monster's charge against the defending forces, leaving him somewhat impotent to help his realm.
Luckly for Nils, he was able to regain communication with his family back on Atamara and was able to get some gold so he could recruit a unit. Using his connections with the Marchioness of Raviel, Nils also was able to reclaim an estate, becoming a fully functioning noble of the Realm.
