          • The Republic Legion serves the the shield of Melodia. It's purpose is to defend against threats that come within and without the realm. It's first duty is to aid the young Republic in it's transition by providing the needed security and civic service to maintain the realm's regions.

            Tactics Of The Republic

            Duties Of The Military Leadership

General Of Melodia: The duty of the General is to plan the overall strategy of Melodia's military forces. He acts upon the orders of the Crown and Parliament. He passes orders on to the Marshal and the Marshal's Second In Command to execute. In the event of an emergency he can command the armies of the Republic directly to ensure the execution of the Crown's and Parliament's orders.

Marshal(s): The duty of the Marshal(s) is to execute the orders received from the General. The Marshal(s) are responsible for rallying, moving, and setting the tactics for battle. Whereas the General deals with the overall military strategy, the Marshal(s) deal in the overall tactical strategy on the battlefield level.

Marshals Second In Command: The duty of the Second In Command is to ensure that the Marshal's orders are received, followed, and keep track of the army's status to report back to the Marshal. In the event the Marshal is unable to carry out the duty of Marshal, the Second In Command shall take on those duties.

            Duties Of The Nobles

Every noble able to command and maintain troops is expected to do so. The natural exceptions are priests and traders. Other than that there is no excuse that a noble would otherwise not command the minimum of a retinue of 10 soldiers of any kind. The Melodian noble should note well that our realm is not large by any means, in regions or troop leaders. We will often face foes with a great numerical advantage in terms of troop numbers. Though short on numbers we shall not be found lacking in quality. It the duty of every noble to train their troops to their peak. Every soldier in their unit must be an army, that right shall come through rigorous training. Also our troops should reflect our Republic's values, never lax in the upkeep and pristine appearance of your men. For the noble who stations in border regions, scout reports are needed. If a report has not come from your region, the duty to provide that report falls to you. Reports should be made every turn. The power of a thousand swords, lances, and arrows is nothing without the eyes to send them to their foe. It is paramount that orders are followed promptly when issued. The safety of the realm and the lives of your fellow nobles depend on it. As you are defended by them so shall you defend them.

Troop Leader Duties In Short Order Provide Scout Reports

            Train To Peak Performance

Maintain A Pristine Unit (Equipment Damage Levels Should Never Exceed 40%)

Maintain A Unit Of At Least 10 Soldiers Of Any Kind

Be Prompt In Following Orders Your Realm, Your Fellow Nobles Depend On You

            In Closing

In battle you may feel fear, that is fine. Look to courage it shall find you. There is no shame in feeling fear, but only giving into it. In victory be silently righteous and courteous to the defeated, in defeat be silent in your contempt for the enemy and rally around the Republic. When our enemy meets us in the open we shall drive them from the field. When they take us by surprise we will shock them with the speed in which we respond. Should our enemy show us a fortress, we will show them a ruin. Know your duty and the the Republic be long lived.
