While some individuals warmly embrace your presence, a few others still maintain their reservations, though their numbers are noticeably diminishing. Devoting several hours to aid in the reconstruction and debris clearance, you contribute to the restoration of the locals' homes. During your interactions, one resident shares an intriguing tale about a butchered deer discovered between the residential area and the soldiers' quarters. The deer exhibited deep claw marks, suggesting a violent demise. Curiously, the creature's carcass was initially adorned with black hair, but it mysteriously vanished by the time it reached the resident's abode.

Determined to uncover hidden treasures within the ruins, you embark on an arduous journey deeper into the palace. As you navigate through the labyrinthine passages, removing rubble and clearing the way, you stumble upon a remarkable discoveryโ€”a relatively intact room that once served as a small library. Though time and collapse have taken their toll on the books and tablets, you salvage what remains, carefully gathering fragments of knowledge.

Amongst the damaged tomes, you find references to the elusive monster you seekโ€”the pretender. These accounts reveal a crucial weakness: the pretender possesses boundless stamina, never requiring rest, but is notably vulnerable to sunlight. Legendary hunters of the past managed to confront the creature by engaging it during daylight hours. However, it becomes apparent that combating the pretender at night poses a formidable challenge, requiring formidable weaponry and collective effort.

With the newfound insights from the tablets in your possession, you make your way back home, your mind swirling with thoughts of strategy and preparation for the ultimate encounter with the beast.

With an adventurous spirit, you set foot in the ancient graveyard, determined to explore the remaining untouched tombs. After carefully selecting a tomb that piques your curiosity, you enter its solemn confines. Inside, a treasure trove of books, tablets, and enigmatic artifacts awaits your discovery. It becomes evident that this particular tomb belonged to a scholarly figure from ages past.

Engrossed in your search, you spend hours sifting through the artifacts, hoping to uncover something of value. Disappointed by your initial findings, you turn your attention to the stone coffin resting at the heart of the tomb. Opening it with cautious anticipation, you stumble upon an intriguing itemโ€”an enigmatic magnifying glass adorned with a small indicator composed of five shimmering blue gems. Though three gems have lost their luster, two gems continue to radiate with a captivating glow.

Eager to discern the purpose of this extraordinary find, you delve into the books and tablets scattered within the tomb. Fortunately, your perseverance pays off as you stumble upon an informative passage detailing the magnifying glass. It becomes clear that this remarkable tool possesses the ability to identify objects or individuals, with each remaining gem denoting its remaining uses. Once the gems fade completely, the item's functionality will cease, unless someone with magical aptitude can restore its power.

Excited by the newfound possibilities, your mind teems with ideas of how to employ this mysterious artifact. Perhaps it can be employed to unmask someone or shed light on a lingering suspicion. With the knowledge in hand, you carefully gather the books, tablets, and the magnifying glass, preparing to embark on a thrilling journey that lies ahead.

With a mix of trepidation and curiosity, you step into the depths of the ancient graveyard, drawn by the allure of unexplored tombs. Among the myriad options, you select a tomb that exudes an aura of grandeur and significance. As you enter, the walls come alive with vibrant murals depicting valiant warriors locked in fierce battles with formidable monsters. It becomes evident that this tomb belonged to a mighty warrior or a revered commander who once stood at the forefront of these epic conflicts.

Venturing further, you encounter a mesmerizing display of decorated monster skulls, their eerie presence casting a mysterious air over the tomb. At the heart of this sacred space, a magnificent stone throne awaits, occupied by a large skeletal figure adorned in formidable armor. Nails secure the armor in place, emphasizing its significance and the power it once symbolized. Leaning against the throne rests a sheathed sword, tempting you with its enigmatic allure.

Intrigued by the sword's potential, you cautiously reach for its hilt and draw it from its long slumber within the scabbard. To your surprise, the blade emerges pristine and keen, defying the passage of time. This is no ordinary weapon; it is an artifact of immense power, once wielded by the skeletal figure upon the throne. Eager to test its prowess, you direct a swift swing towards a nearby monster skull, witnessing the sword effortlessly cleave through it with remarkable precision.

A surge of exhilaration courses through your veins as you realize the significance of this newfound weapon. Its formidable edge shall serve as your protector, warding off any who dare to invade the sanctity of your home. With the sword in hand, you embrace the confidence and reassurance it imparts, ready to face any challenges that may lie ahead.

As you exit the tomb, the weight of the sword in your grip serves as a constant reminder of the power it possesses. Determined and emboldened, you return to your home, knowing that your newfound ally will stand as an impenetrable barrier against those who would threaten your safety.

As you draw nearer, the opulence becomes apparent, adorned with shimmering jewels, gleaming gold, and an array of artifacts that speak of a bygone era. This tomb seems to have belonged to one of the revered Madinan kings, steeped in power and history.

Guided by an inexplicable sense of anticipation, you traverse the tomb's corridors until you reach its culminationโ€”a majestic sarcophagus housing the remains of the once-great king. As you approach, an uncanny sensation courses through you, as if the very air crackles with latent energy. Ignoring the intrigue, you carefully remove the cover, revealing the regal figure adorned in a suit of armor that radiates with enchantment.

Compelled by curiosity and an inkling of fate, you cautiously remove the armor from the ancient king's desiccated form. Despite its dusty, time-worn appearance, the moment you slip it on, you can sense the profound magic imbued within its metal framework. Your senses awaken as you realize the true nature of this extraordinary artifact.

As your fingers brush against a large, central gem adorning the armor, an astonishing transformation takes place. But amidst the excitement, a sense of responsibility settles within youโ€”a reminder that this extraordinary power must be wielded with wisdom and caution.

As you enter your home, invisible to the world around you, you take a moment to savor the thrill of this newfound gift, eager to embark on a journey where your actions shall remain hidden, and your destiny remains in your capable hands.

I have found in my research amongst the damaged tomes of the Palace the following:

Amongst the damaged tomes, you find references to the elusive monster you seekโ€”the pretender. Dear Audience,

yes i admit that i made a nightly visit at Tybalt Tideweavers house. My reason for this was that he had a suspicious look on his face last time we met.
I knew something was wrong.
As i searched his house, which was covered in strange symbols ,i found three clues. But they were not from a graveyard. They show signs of Tybalt practicing disgusting dark magic in his home.
Now he is trying to get rid of his worst hunter .. me!

Furthermore there are no clues found against me right now.

Would you really execute a man because Tybalt says so ..

choose wisely my friends

From the horses mouth itself. Oskar admits to stealing my hard sought after clues and tries to justify his theft by fabricating some story about the practice of dark magic. I was sleeping Oskar, not skulking about in the night theiving.

I had a hunch to search the Graveyard and was rewarded, only to have my prize stripped from me by a theif. He likely took my clues before I could decipher them as they likely lead to Oskar himself!

I too have uncovered that the pretender is weak to the sunlight and dangerous in the darkness of night.

I also discovered that it takes 3 days for the creature to fully take control of its host. I collected much hair from the graveyard indicating the creature has been there actively.

When you say recently, how recently? I visited the graveyard on the first day and have not returned since. I am curious to know who else has visited besides myself. Though I doubt our pretender would admit as much.

Perhaps they saw me uncovering the clues while I was there, which would explain why Oskar was so determined to steal them from me. Though even if he is not the pretender himself, he could be working for them. And regardless, he is a thief.

Comrades of the ruins,

While I too find Oskar's admission of breaking into his fellow soldier's home and robbing him to be quite damning, I feel in light of the clue knowledge presented I must speak out on hos defense.

After yesterdays accusations against Oskar I took it upon myself to watch his actions through the night, intent to find out if he was going about breaking into peoples homes. He stayed in and slept all night though, never leaving his home. At first I assumed that a dead end, nothing at all helpful. However, according to the tome Njal found...

If Oskar were the pretender, he would have limitless stmina and no need for sleep, plus he would be at his strongest by night. I see no reason why our pretender would choose to stay in all night if they were a nigh invulnerable and sleepless at night. In this effect I don't feel Oskar is the pretender, and will not vote for him as such.

Njal was assigned the task of collecting the votes, making his way diligently through the crowd. After gathering the folded pieces of paper, he proceeded to announce the names written on them. The tension escalated as it was revealed that 7 votes were cast against Oskar, while Tybalt received a single vote. Suspicion fell upon Oskar, believed to be the malevolent pretender.

In response to the overwhelming number of votes against him, the soldiers swiftly encircled Oskar, cutting off any escape. Despite his valiant efforts to defend himself and plead his innocence, his resistance was in vain. Njal, wielding his axe, prepared to carry out the grim task at hand. With somber efficiency, Oskar's fate was sealed. The aftermath unfolded smoothly, and Njal was bestowed with Oskar's equipment as a grim reward for his role. The fallen Oskar found his final resting place in the solemn grounds of the local graveyard.

Fellow Soldiers,

As you know as you heard it from Oskars own mouth, he took something of value from me. Three somethings. I intend to reclaim MY property. It will be a long night, and I might be a tad exhausted in the morning as I go to the ruined market district in the morning as planned. However, I shall be sure to rest the following night, and whatever I learn from my clues I will be sure to share with all. I would still like to protect what clues I will reclaim, which is why I feel a trip to the ruined market district to salvage materials will still be important. Undoubtedly the pretender will know I have the clues assuming I am successful in reclaiming them. They may come after me once I secure them. All the more reason I would appreciate company to the Ruined Market district in the morn.

On a side note, I am willing to bet it was Oskar who cast his vote for me so I would stop reminding everyone he was at the very least a thief, if not the pretender. Galandric's evidence that he was no pretender is compelling, but did not Samson see a shadowy figure following around Oskar? It is possible he was working with or even for the pretender. Between that sighting and his stealing of my clues I genuinely think his execution has made us all safer.

The tide rises,

As you struggle to stay awake while keeping a close watch on Tybalt's house, your eyelids heavy with fatigue, you suddenly jolt awake as the door creaks open. You strain your eyes to see Tybalt emerging from his house under the cover of night. With stealth and caution, you follow him from a safe distance, making sure not to alert him to your presence.

Your heart quickens as Tybalt enters the former residence of Oskar, and you listen intently for any signs of activity. Moments later, a brief commotion catches your attention, but it swiftly subsides. Tybalt reemerges, carrying a visibly full bag, and you observe him scanning the surroundings as if searching for somethingโ€”or someone.

Your instincts tell you to remain hidden, praying that Tybalt's gaze doesn't lock onto your position. Thankfully, he eventually retreats to his own house without any indication of having spotted you. Relief washes over you, mingled with a newfound curiosity about the contents of the bag he took from Oskar's house.

Good Njal,

I already informed you (and all) where I was was this eve. I went to Oskar's home to reclaim my clues. I would not call it stealing if I was only looking for what was already mine.

However, there were no clues to be had. I only found a material and a valuable. It appears someone beat me to his house and either took or destroyed my clues that he stole from me.

I am quite tired now (+2 exhaustion), but am committed to going to the ruined market district as planned at sunrise to gather more materials. Would you like to join me?

I will have to rest tomorrow night lest I collapse. You are welcome to stand guard if you are not too tired yourself.

-Njal stood guard over Tybalt and tybalt was definitely not in bed.

-Tybalt says he was stealing his clues back from Oskar but the clues were gone already.

We know now the pretender doesnโ€™t need sleep and is weak in the day and more powerful at night.

Where was everyone else?

Greetings fellow pretender fodder, why was it that we decided to kill Oskar? and why are we still Pretending that this was related to the pretender in anyway shape or form. Need i remind you that Oskar is now dead. im vary curious how this even happens, sure Oskar was a theif but we really probobly needed him alive if theres a Walking killing nightstalker walking around. I personally was home last night staying awake as someone recently stole some of my valuables while i slept! What was it that Tybalt stole from Oskar if Oskar no longer had any clues i wonder? I realize there was good reason for you Njal to take the noble action you took last night, and am willing to lean into your opinions slightly as i have gained respect for you over tonights actions along with how you openly seek to unite us against a clear danger that we might be ignoring slightly to much conidering we just killed a man for no reason what so ever.

Lexis,

So many of us voted for Oskar as he openly admitted to stealing my clues after we found evidence of him doing so. He stole them from me as I slept.

Rojak,

I have slept in my home every night except last night. Last night was the first night I stayed up to go get my property that was stolen from me by Oskar back. I made that quite plain and told everyone I was doing so before I did. I was up all night looking for the clues Oskar took while I was sleeping two nights ago but they were already gone from his house by the time I got there. I only recovered a material and a valuable from his home. Either Oskar destroyed the clues, gave them to someone else (possibly the pretender) or someone beat me to them.

Everyone,

When the sun rises I will be going to the Ruined Market District to Salvage more material. I once again invite any soldier to accompany me. In fact I would prefer to have company as I will be tired and would appreciate the help. Tomorrow night I will be forced to rest unless I wish to collapse. If there is a soldier who would be willing to stand guard over me tomorrow night as Njal attempted to tonight, I would be grateful. Perhaps even willing to part with a valuable in exchange.

That said, Njal makes a good point. Where was everyone else tonight?

I can confirm Njal stood guard over my empty home as I encountered him on my way back from Oskar's home.

Lexis says he has stayed up as he too was stolen from in the night.
