Monster Invasion(i): Strategic Mud Pit Traps

As the looming threat of the monster invasion persists, your estate stands as yet untouched, but the specter of uncertainty hangs heavily in the air. The ever-encroaching danger prompts your subjects to voice their concerns, suggesting a novel approach to bolstering your defenses.

The proposal that emerges is the construction of cunning mud pit traps, a tactical endeavor intended to ensnare and immobilize any monsters that dare to encroach upon your lands. The concept involves the careful creation of mud pits designed to entrap the invaders, rendering them temporarily helpless and vulnerable to your vigilantes' defenses.

Your subjects are convinced that these mud pit traps will significantly enhance your estate's ability to repel the monster onslaught. They argue that such structures would not only serve as a valuable deterrent but also afford your vigilantes a strategic advantage in combating the marauding creatures.

However, the undertaking of this project comes at a cost, and the initial estimate stands at 2 gold coins. This expenditure would be channeled into the meticulous construction and maintenance of the mud pit traps, making them an integral part of your estate's defense strategy.

The decision now rests with you. Will you allocate the necessary resources to forge these mud pit traps, fortifying your estate's defenses and potentially safeguarding your lands from the imminent threat? Or will you opt for an alternative course of action, knowing that the choice you make will shape the fate of your estate in these trying times?

Outcome: Trapping the Threat

Recognizing the need for additional defenses, you invest 2 gold in transforming your mud pits into effective traps. Tall wooden walls are constructed strategically to guide approaching monsters into these traps. Once ensnared, the monsters become easy prey for your vigilantes and soldiers. This new defensive measure significantly boosts the effectiveness of your defenders, making it considerably easier to protect your estate from the impending monster invasion—provided the monsters don't possess the ability to fly.

The locals in your estate are visibly pleased with this extra layer of protection you've provided. Their spirits are lifted, knowing that you are taking proactive steps to safeguard their homes and livelihoods. With these traps in place, you stand better prepared to face the oncoming threat and defend your estate from the encroaching monsters.

Monster Invasion(ii): Defense Against the Ant-like Monsters

The combined forces from Alushaar, Galandric, Samson, and Lexis have successfully arrived in Rojak's estate just in the nick of time. As they complete their entry into the estate, the gates close behind them. On the horizon, a dust cloud rises, marking the approach of the ant-like monsters.

True to the scattered reports, a significant number of these ants, estimated to be around forty, charge straight towards the center of the estate. However, the well-prepared defenses come into play. The monsters quickly find themselves ensnared in the cunning mud pit traps. The sticky mud clings to their legs, slowing them down considerably.

Soldiers and vigilantes seize this opportunity and open fire on the trapped ants. The monsters' tough outer shells prove resilient to arrows, but some manage to find their marks in the softer areas. This tense standoff continues for about an hour, with the ant monsters trying desperately to break free.

In the end, most of the trapped ants give up and withdraw, leaving their injured comrades behind. A few ants stay behind to help, but their efforts only lead to further injury. As the people begin to celebrate this small victory, they notice the surviving ants are not retreating completely. Instead, they appear to be searching for alternative entry points into the estate.

The soldiers quickly take a count and realize that, despite the successful trap, there are still around thirty ants left. The ants' apparent intelligence suggests that the effectiveness of the traps might diminish in the face of their adaptability. For today, the ants are not launching another attack, but the estate must remain vigilant for future assaults.

Outcome: The Ant Monster Onslaught

A few days have passed since the ant monsters retreated. Most of them have retreated to the nearby forest, while a handful linger around the estate, monitoring the humans and seeking an entry point. Remaining vigilant, some of the soldiers notice tall trees falling in the forest where the ants have taken refuge. This continues for a few days until the defenders realize the ants' cunning plan. They are using these felled trees to construct a path for their attack.

Determined to thwart the ants, the defenders attempt to stop this construction, but the ants have become smarter and avoid the arrows when too many are fired at them. Slowly but steadily, they manage to build a pathway. Once it's completed, they launch their attack once more.

The estate's walls prove ineffective against the ants, as they quickly climb over them. The defenders must engage in close combat, with some ants pushing them off the walls, causing injuries and fatalities. Soldiers and vigilantes deploy nets and ropes to pull the ants into the estate side and swiftly surround and eliminate them using spears and hammers. Others lead the ants to the section of walls that borders other mud pit traps and push them into these traps.

After a fierce and costly battle, the ants are either eradicated or trapped in the pits. The defenders emerge victorious but have suffered many casualties. A full unit of soldiers sent by Samson, along with two units of Lexis' vigilantes, perished in the battle. Additionally, one unit of Rojak's own vigilantes was destroyed. Despite these losses, Rojak's estate has successfully repelled the ant monster invasion.

Celebrating Victory and Valuable Resources

The residents of your estate, from the humblest peasants to the minor nobles, have all witnessed and celebrated your remarkable victory over the ant swarm. Your leadership and diplomatic skills have garnered praise from all corners of the estate. For a few days, people revel in the joy of their triumph, but the reality of preparing for the next attack soon sets in.

Some of your craftsmen take the time to closely observe the exoskeletons of the fallen ant monsters. They quickly realize the potential in these sturdy, unique materials. You face a decision: should you use these exoskeletons to craft armors, reinforcing your vigilantes for future battles, or should you opt to sell them to merchants, potentially reaping a substantial profit for your estate? The choice is yours to make, and it may shape the future of your estate's defense and prosperity.

Outcome: Strengthened Vigilantes

Opting to repurpose the sturdy exoskeletons of the fallen ant monsters, you decide to craft armors for your vigilantes. The armors are formidable, offering enhanced protection against the horrors of the ongoing monster invasion. Your vigilantes don these intimidating black ant exoskeleton armors, which not only boost their safety but also their confidence.

As these enhanced defenders patrol your estate, the locals are visibly reassured by their imposing presence. They take solace in the sight of these vigilantes clad in the exoskeleton armors, believing that their estate is now better prepared to face the relentless onslaught of monsters.
