Embossed Giblot Emblem.png Giblots Most Dangerous Job

The scribe; a person who writes, reads, and sends letters to others. Although they are sometimes used by wealthy business men it is the nobles who seem to have an infinite number of them.

The scribe is the most underappreciated and the most dangerous job you can hold in Giblot. Many nobles kill scribes daily, mostly one at a time but it is not uncommon to see large groups of dead scribes. It is almost like a tradition to beat and even kill your scribe as a show of anger, dissappointment, or failure to perform at crucial times. From headbutting to being decapitated for use in a headball game, the scribes lives are full of fear and worry.

Yet all is not lost for these poor souls. A few nobles stand up for the rights of the scribes who are butchered daily. It is rumoured that scribes can live to see the ripe old age of 50 while under the care of one of these nobles. If a scribe ever makes it to this point they retire to their homes no longer carrying papers for a living.

This is hardly the case, as no matter whose service the scribe is under their lives are not protected when delievering a message to another noble. Some nobles respect one another enough to not kill the scribes sent to them from that specific person and instead the scribe is used to return a response. Other nobles send scribes to each other just to end up butchered for fun. The scribes have little choice in who they work for as everyone needs a job and everyone needs a scribe, sometimes two or more.

At the moment the life expectancy of the average scribe is 10 scrolls. Many barely see more then 3 and some do not even see more then 1, but those that work for a specific few can sometimes see more then 100 scrolls. If it wasn't for these few people the average life expectancy of a scribe would be under half the original number.
