MinasIthilFlag.png Another Magnificent Tourney by Minas

The tournament in Shanandoah attracted 129 troop leaders from 13 different realms. All paid their 20 gold entrance fee, not without words of suspcion from some, and competed for the 500 gold first place prizes (second place prizes were 100 each) in both the sword and the joust. First place in the sword rounds went to Jaime Lannister of Talerium (second place going to Eversio Raiva of Minas Ithil), and the famed joustmaster DrSpetre Meadowcrest of the Barony of Makar claimed the title in the joust arena once again (second place going to Kenji Takeda of Minas Ithil). Well fought by all!

Preparing for a Siege?
If you found yourself fresh out of ideas for the newest and most effective siege weapons, Shanadoah was the place to be. The discussion on furry weaponry spawned from an innocent comment about the affectionately dubbed “meepers” of ASI and turned into quite the think tank. Those rickety wooden siege towers not holding your army up? Try a giraffe! Easily trained and steady on their feet, these gentle giants are perfect for breaching those pesky walls. Do you find the war path blocked by masses of furry meepers? Load ‘em into those catapults and over the wall they go, sure to spread splitting headaches and annoyance wherever they end up! Stuck in a misplaced herd of goats? Some creative pyramid stacking and you’ve got yourself a siege tower (disclaimer: this newspaper is not responsible for any damages or deaths resulting from goat stacking). Just you wait Atamara, soon that underused wood will find itself unemployed completely!
The Especially Generous
A list of those kind people who give out free drinks

Gabe, Sh’ki, Keiichi-----Taco, Chris, Rau, Moses, Yavanna, Xanio, Marcus Maxentius, Danielle, Dan

This list starts with those who bought multiple rounds then goes in order from the dashes down, as usual. I’d just like to say this is a seriously sad short list, really people come on, where’s your generosity! Granted if you were one of those people who bought a round before I arrived, you’re off the hook….this time. Usually I explain why I’m late, but today …it’s a secret. Yes indeed.

Oh So Close
Oh Atamara how I grieve for you. You try and you try but you just can’t succeed! Minas Tourney II was almost completely void of political banter but it the last days of the festivities we just couldn’t play nice anymore. Some disgruntled banned persons, a couple messages on barbarians, and some cleverly veiled insults made their way to the tourney forum. Tsk tsk people! We’re here to have fun, you can go back to your wars and grudges after the tournament! Seriously, it’s hard to really enjoy that fine Ithlilian wine in such a tense atmosphere. All that misdirected animosity is bad for your skin too.
Is Silence Really Bliss?
What else can I say? Not much apparently, this was one of the quietest tourneys on record! Aside from a few spurts of lively chatting only the hustle and bustle of everyday life in Shanandoah could be heard. Some people attributed the quiet to the lack of Abington related arguments, no complaints on those but was that really it? I don’t think so. Usually tourney goers chat about girl trouble, guy trouble, marriages, family grudges, good spirited tricks, ale competitions, war stories, and the good ole’ days. Not this time around, maybe we’re just running out of things to say? A bad sign that.
The Winners Circle
Sorry about this folks but I never got a chance to contact the winners of the sword and joust. Was too busy drinking off a hard hit from the jousting event to get my questions out to them. And alas, now they are out of my contact lists.

DrSeptre Meadowcrest from the good Barony took the Jousting Champion title for the 12th tourney running! Can no one take down this titan? Apparent first time Sword Champion Jaime Lannister from Talerium came out of nowhere, leaving all the favorites in the dust with his victory! You are inspiration to us all!

Whiskey Scam?
Let us take a walk on memory lane for a moment. Everyone remember the Wedding tourney back in Minas Ithil? And does everyone remember the free whiskey that the groom, Sir Dante Raiva, promised us? Yes well, if it sounds too good to be true (and free whiskey really is good let me tell you) that’s because it is! After a few disgruntled wedding goers wrote complaints to the family in question it came to light that the free whiskey was handed out at, and only at , the wedding! For those of you who were partying too hardy to grab it while you were there, you’re out of luck and likely out of whiskey. Sorry folks.
