After searching the area for 3 hours, following trails and noises, Volstagg finally encountered a small horde of monsters. He noticed that they had a leader, an alpha monster, a really big and ugly one, whatever you want to call it. The battle raged, Volstagg against the monsters. His blows landed true and he strike most of them down, while a few manage to flee. The big one was the last to fall, but after an exhausting fight Volstagg managed to take him down, too. In the lair of the big one, he found treasures worth a total of 2 gold.

He also found a unique item among the loot, the "Enchanted Ring".

The ring was rediscovered months later by Volstagg on the Mountain of Woe after Westgard cleared the area of trolls and ogres. What noble dropped it, Volstagg did not know but he would quest to return it to them.

The Ring eventually fell into the possession of Kiran Mir-Ashtan, whom since had various adventurers discover the greater power of the ring, a powerful magical amplifier that aids in stabilising the weave of magic when employing powerful scrolls.
