The Emerald Studded Longsword of Doom was a wedding gift from Count Orlaf of Bastionburg to his son Dusricht many years ago. Forged by local artisans and weapon smiths the sword was then inlaid with emeralds found locally as was the custom in the family. The sword won much acclaim in its day and was a family heirloom passed from farther to son many times. However, some years later Bastionburg was gripped by a turnip famine and its economy crashed. Indeed Bastionburg no longer appears on current maps having been broken up and taken over by other provinces long ago. Gabiatt the 52nd Count of Bastionburg was forced to sell the sword to pay rent on his properties during the crisis and the sword disappeared until now.

The sword was recovered by Lowly Toff the Adventurer in Corniel after he defeated the Troll Lord Scrunthorny the Gruesome. How Scrunthorny came by the sword is unknown at this point. The sword was sold to Xyst Tybonn.
