The Great Purge

6.1

Fed up with being subjects to a superior force, the tribal clans, now more populace than the arexi since the inclusion of the new foreigners from centuries back, decided to overthrow their masters and reign for themselves. Though they still had fear of the military supremacy of the arexi. The insurrection began with the Unbeto’tonanth chief Marimore who accused the ruling arexi dynasty of inbreeding, a scandalous crime for the arexi dynasties as they were supposed to share power between all the arexi blood and not horde it in one family. Marimore was subsequently assassinated, and that switched off the reservations of the tribal clans. All out war erupted across the arexi Principate, as tribal clans battled the arexi clans. The arexi clans quickly joined forces under one ruling clan, the Feeradorians. The Feeradorians were led by a mix of the descendants of the Mondorii family and the Verbooth family, who were wealthy aristocrats that had many family members as region commanders across the principate, though never had one as Prince. The tribal clans decided they could only defeat the Feeradorians if they united in the same way, and so they created the Brutaths clan. These two super clans divided the Principate and warred continuously for three decades. The Feeradorians dominated the war for the first two decades, but new military leadership in the Brutaths clan brought new strategies. The Brutaths youths who were raised during the fierce war became the heroic leaders who would end it. Inspiring and leading the armies into battle, they turned the tide against the Feeradorians. The last decade of the war saw steady defeat of the arexi super clan, and the collapse of the great principate they had created. One of the battles during the last three years of the war was the largest ever fought on the Sallowsitte Cape. It is rumoured to have taken place outside of a village in Axewild that no longer exists. Both Feeradorian and Brutaths faced on the field with all their armies. It was this battle where the famous Legend of Ceemo Det occurred; Ceemo was one of the heroic commanders of the Brutaths and fell gloriously on the battlefield. The battle was a major Brutaths victory, and the Feeradorians were on the retreat ever since. After more defeats, the arexi who were left were rounded up and purged. This was the end of the arexi warrior class and all related arexi blood.

6.2

The Brutaths government that succeeded the arexi Principate was short lived and fell apart due to the divisiveness of the tribal clans. The regions of the Principate fell rogue and the whole landscape descended into a dark age.
