Janna Da Hadez had fought long and hard in the dank passages of the rotting tomb she had discovered hidden deep in the hills of Clintoc. The narrowness of the structure had worked in her favour as the army of stinking rotted copses could only engage her two abreast, clambering over the now still remains of their damned kin. Their leader had led them fiercely but had fallen quickly to her sword. after that it had then been a simple question of whether her stamina could outlast the numbers of the enemy as their skill was negligible for all their demented energy.

Upon slaying the last of them she had proceeded into the main chamber of the tomb and sorted through the poorer than expected grave goods, weapons and trinkets looking for anything of interest or value.

Eventually she came upon a musty velvet bag weighted by a solid object the size of a small apple. She opened the bag and was immediately blinded by an agonisingly bright burst of purple-white light. For an hour she stumbled, with her sword drawn, unable to see past the searing yellow after-image. Eventually she emerged into painful and blurred sunlight, groped around until she found a safe haven and then slept fitfully for hours until her abused eyes returned to normal.

Over the next few days she experimented with the gem that the bag had contained. It seemed that if the gem was exposed to the bright sunlight for a few hours then shrouded in thick fabric the light was reflected and magnified inside the gem until such time as it was exposed; at which time a blinding flash would erupt from it.

At the request of her cousin Severn Janna presented the gem to Grumbar Scarfist as a gift from the Da Hadez Family.
