The Characteristics
As any leather fabric, the gauntlets are smooth and have a natural shine to it due to the present animal fat and oil. These gauntlets are made out of the hide of a bear, and are thus several times thicker, as protection against winter cold, than that of the ordinary cow or pig. The leather is dark, clearly extracted from a black grizzly bear from a mountain area. The leather does not bend very easily and it requires some training and adjusting to get a feeling of it. The leather does look oddly scorched.
The Discovery
In the city of Palnasos, Lucius had noticed an odd man wandering through the city. His senses had been almost perfected when it came down to sages; he thanked this by his many earlier encounters. Immediately, he took his chance and spoke to the man, but he only wanted to repair the items Lucius himself possessed. Many more times did Lucius meet this strange sage, and every time the sage only wanted to repair items. Stubborn and known with sages as he was, Lucius continued to practically harrass the sage until he agreed to build a new item.
Unfortunately the first two attempts were unsuccessful as the sage had been bothered and irritated too much to care for doing a good job. The third time he even broke a piece of amber out of frustration. The fourth time however, after a full night of sleep, the sage sighed and worked calmly. He set light to a fire, melted the piece of amber on it under a heath that Lucius knew could not be the one of an ordinary fire, and he scraped the hair off the bear hide. With knife, needle and thread he started to cut and sow through the hide until he had a pair of gautlets waiting near the fire.
At this point, the amber was boiling, and the sage pored it softly over the gauntlets. As the amber had cooled off somewhat and was already hardening to a soapy glue, the sage rubbed it like an ointment over the gauntlets. WHen the amber threatened to grow too hard, the sage took his knife and scraped the amber off of the surface.
Thus were the gauntlets made.

The History
A factual history is of course unextistant, but the powers and mystique abilities will without a doubt be part of history one day.
The gauntlets might seem uneasy around your hands due to their thickness, but once they take hold of something, they don't let loose no matter what. If the wearer of the gauntlets decides not to drop whatever he is holding, no matter what force someone on the outside puts on the gauntlets, they will not let go. And in doing so, they do not even crush or threaten to break whatever they are holding. This is an excellent aid in battle, when your shield and sword are the last thing to let go off.
Furthermore, these gauntlets, presumably because of the amber coating, do not bear any consequences when held in fire or close to extreme heath.
