History: The Cursed Shield was discovered in the lair of the Dire Hobgoblin MegMock on the outskirt of Saffalore. MegMock was rumored to have received the shield from a witch who he had done a favor for. Cedreic Aboolio took up the task of clearing the cave after MegMock's minion after reports came in that they had been terrorizing the countryside. In a final battle against the Dire Bugbear Cerdreic struggled time and time again to get a hit in past the Cursed Shield, but ultimately only managed to overcome his enemy by luring him to a ledge and pushing him off into an underground ravine. The shield could not protect him from the crushing fall, and Cerdreic recovered the magical shield from MegMock's mushy corpse.

A few weeks after procuring the magical item Cedreic brought it before the Countess of Gretchew, Cotys D'Anglos. She paid a hefty sum of 100 gold pieces to have the item added to her collection of antiquities, and to help sponsor Cedreic to acquire more such magics.
