Chrysantalys
The city Chrysantalys is located in the midlands of the Northwestern Dwilight. It is situated below the long mountain range on the north and the roaming river Chrysal on the south. Naturally, the city owes its name to the river Chrysal, which begins somewhere under the harsh rocks of the Mountain of Chrysalyds, and ends up in the sea somewhere between the distant regions of Corridor of Torment and Kid's Rock.
However, among the people of Chrysantalys the city is also addressed as the Heart of the Dragon, and this name finds its roots in the local myth and an urban legend. It is said that long ago before Man ever walked this wild continent a gigantic dragon fell in the northwest. Supposedly, from his remains the mountains were made representing his torso, the river Chrysal appeared representing his tail, while Chrysantalys, located in the middle of his torso, represents his heart. This tale is a part of the local folklore usually used to scare the children, while the nobility of the city doesn't give much meaning to the myth.
Chrysantalys is rather small and unpopulated considering the large cities closer to the shores of the Inner Dwilight Sea. Life is harsh here and gold is scarce. However, what Chrysantalys lacks in gold and numbers it returns in its people. The people are extremely hardy folk who have learned how to survive. The warriors of Chrysantalys are well known for their stamina and toughness, often making hunting forays deep into the mountains. The neighbouring region Chrysantalys Mines is completely surrounding the city, creating the suburbia and protection. The Mines, well known for both precious minerals and iron ore, offer the city the regional leadership in conducting the weapon crafting and repairs.
Inside the city, the inhabited areas take little land as the buildings and watch towers are built around the large Citadel that can be found in the centre. The Citadel is also considered as the Ducal Palace to give proper administration and organizing equipment to run the entire Duchy. What is also worthy to mention is that on the borders of the inhabited area small hills can be occasionally found, which offer protection against the harsh winds that come from the mountains, and natural shield against the few wondering packs of monsters that rarely manage to sneak in.
Economy
Chrysantalys has a marketplace, making it a popular spot with traders, lords, and stewards from the surrounding regions.
