Letter from Zolan Zatirri

Mary, my friend.

I will indeed be in Perdan in 5 days, and that would be most convenient, thankyou. Of course you may always come to me for advice! I will answer your question within a story.
Once upon a time in a realm called Aromarit Xiv, there was a dashing young Duke.

The Duke held a lot of influence in his realm, and enough land and people to be a good suitor for any lady of the continent. The Duke had only one love and his father had forced them apart, and with that, he swore he would never love again.

Then one day, while way down south reclaiming lands from a foe now departed, his armour was slashed clean through, leaving it in a heck of a state. With his armour shattered, he began to seek the service of an adventurer to repair it for him.

Little did he know, that this adventurer would shatter his other armour, the one he wore over his heart.

So off the little adventurer went, to repair the armour of the Duke under promise of payment. When she returned to the Dukes lands of Castle Tnebu, she found the Duke not there to greet her. But he saw her enter from a window of his tower.

Instead of the Duke, a lot of guards hurried her away to some quarters laid out for her. In the morning, she was woken abruptly and whisked off once more. She was treated like the lady the Duke saw her as, given a dress, her hair done and then lead to a great hall. At the end of the table, sat the Duke. He had never seen a woman so unconventionally beautiful.

She did not walk, nor talk like a noble, yet carried a sense of pride not of her birthright, but of her own achievement. The Duke admired the woman, and they sat down and ate together.

A few weeks later while on a campaign to fight off the Northern Orcs of Noiris, The Duke found himself in a dire situation. The Orcs were many, and the Duke and the army that stood beside him were without cover. The future looked bleak. In times of stress, people think of those that they care about, those that they love.

The Duke normally thought of his family. His people. His Friends. But not this time. This time he thought of the beautiful woman. He thought of how she walked into the Castle with her mule, not caring at all what others thought of her. He though of when he saw her walk into the great hall all dressed up, how ridiculously out of place she looked, and it brought a smile to his face. He fought that day, he fought harder than he had ever fought before. And he won. The two are getting married in a weeks time.

The moral, that I hope you can learn from this, is that: If someone is on your mind even when you do not want them to be, it would be an injustice to yourself to not pursue it.
