Arn Family/Jorn Irongborn/Malvaren, Jorn's Squire

Malvaren is a nasty piece of work, who quietly manages the deeper political machinations of his master, Jorn Ironborn. Serving obsequiously in the background as Jorn's "Squire," Malvaren actually makes the essential decisions of the Marquis' region of Avengmil. In fact, the very decision to run in the election for Marquis was made by him, and Sir Jorn had to be carefully convinced (which, actually, isn't that hard when Jorn is drunk, which is almost always).

Malvaren's motives are unknown, but he insists they are in good faith. Jorn's Scribe thinks he's up to no good, but Jorn's Scribe thinks a lot of things.

Although his master regularly beats him into a pulp ("It be trainin', ye pitiful lump of girl flesh!" is Jorn's constant refrain), Malvaren never complains. Even enjoys it, in his own way, which is not to be dwelt on.
