The Waroe family are a family of minor nobles, whose ancestory is based around Lurgrod, in the Duchy of Sullenport, on Atamara. Scholars are agreed that the first part of the name probably refers to war, and fighting, but opinions vary on whether the -oe ending indicates winning them, taking part in them, avoiding them, or being horribly defeated in them.
Living Characters
The most notable member of the Waroes is Sir Mardel Waroe, who currently lives as a knight in Carelia near his extended family. Mardel spent most of his teenage years abroad, where he supposedly studied literature and mathematics, but spend more time studying the finer qualities of fruit brandies, and the most comfortable position in which to listen to music. Mardel is an able knight, but has never yet had reason to rise to his potential, and will rarely opt for heroicism when the alternative is a glass of brandy somewhere quiet and relaxing.
