Isis awoke to a knock at the door.

“Who is it?” she asked cheerfully as she rushed towards her vandalised window and peered into the quiet street below.

She saw nothing but the pool of dried blood on the pavement and the butcher ravishing the milk man in the alley opposite. Nothing out of the ordinary she thought, but still no reply.

Isis heard the knock on her door once again, in excitement she threw on some clothes and galloped down the stairs to the doorway. As she opened the door she whinnied at the three people outside.

“Good morning milady.” replied the guard; “We’ve had several complaints about a dead body in your cupboard.” continued the guard.

“Why’d you tell them I’ve got a dead body in my cupboard!” snapped Isis at the maid beside her.

“No I didn’t, I didn’t.” replied the maid as she backed away in panic.

“Oooh those dead bodies.” Isis winked jokingly at the maid after a brief silence “no I keep all my dead bodies under the floorboards.” she replied to the Guards.

“Right then, we’re going to search your premises.” stated the second guard as they barged past her and into the house.

“Well, come in then.” she responded sarcastically slamming the door behind them.

The guards spread out around the house, Isis quickly caught up with one of the men who had gone into the kitchen, as he looked around the room Isis noticed a pale, limp hand sticking out from under the trapdoor. She rushed over and struggled to push the hand back under the floor, breaking it in the process.

“What’s that noise?” asked the man.

Isis leapt to her feet, itching her neck, “What noise?” she replied in a high pitched voice.

“That bone breaking noise.” he added.

“Oh... aw, ouch my ankle” replied the noble, clutching her injury.

“That’s your jaw!” the guard stated.

Isis paused, thought for a moment and then adjusted her injury.

“Right...” he replied suspiciously, as he left the room and summoned his men to the hallway. He whispered to them and they left. “I’ll be back.” He said as he followed them out the house.
