Caris Newell, known as Silesian in Atamara, was born to a Celt knight. As the only child, she was raised as a boy. She learnt how to use a sword and a bow. She was also an excellent horse rider. When she was 16, her father arranged her marriage with Sir Winfred of Slough. Caris didn't however quite enjoyed the perspective of being married to an old and obese man. Having quite strong character and boy's training, she left her father a short note and secretly left her home. Fate brought her finally to Vornion in Atamara.
