Mathis started off in Caligus on the East Continent. After a few mishaps where he forgot to pay his men, and mis-read a few orders Mathis decided the life of a Troop Leader was not for him. Already a member of Sanctus Acies he became a priest. He soon gained the position of the treasurer of Sanctus Acies.
He served in this capacity for quite some time. Then came the creation of the "New Oligarch" called Westmoor. His liege Baron Mungo, who was a former Oligarchian, left for Westmoor to hopefully help re-create his former home. With the position of Baron of Aestus open, and Mathis being the only knight of the region, he was appointed to the post.
Many moons later, Mathis decided that he would take a hiatus from his preachings to serve as a knight once more. He fought briefly in Caligus' war against Ibladesh. But the war ended before he had done much. With peace returned, he returned to the life of a priest.
