Aeryn was the first of the Arete family to accept the responsibilities of nobility, after which she swore an Oath of Fealty to Sir Phlex, the former Count of Washford.  Phlex introduced Aeryn to Duchess Callisto, and the two became close friends.  After Phlex was imprisoned by ASI for infiltration during the War of Dishonour, Callisto appointed Aeryn as the new Countess of Washford.  Aeryn was only 18 at the time, and had not even been a noble for a full two months yet.

Aeryn's first battle took place on June 26th in Matakonis against a horde of 11 monsters that had been rampaging the surrounding regions; however, her military career really began as a late-comer to the war between Carelia and the Cagilan Empire.  She fought at the ''Battle of Craigmore (July 7th, 12485 vs 1254)'', the ''Battle of Ledunds (July 8th, 9873 vs 1575)'' and the ''Battle of Alcatil (July 9th, 5435 vs 1687)'', each under the banners of Sir Grand Poopah, Marquis of Webgard, Marshal of the army of Stoneville.  In the Battle of Alcatil, one of Aeryn's men perished as a result of his wounds.  It was the first time someone died under the command of Aeryn, but it would not be the last.

Aeryn spent most of her early career working as a bureaucrat; however, a few weeks after religions began to spread across the face of Atamara, Aeryn founded Aristoi Atamarism, the first religion within Abington's borders.  After the Aristoi had spread to several regions and acquired a few priests, Aeryn changed careers again and become a mentor; however, she continued in her role as the Prophet of Aristoi Atamarism.  She was reappointed as Countess of Washford, and shortly afterwards was appointed as the Marshal of the newly created Army of Suville, though the latter may have more to do with the military success of her sister, Averyll, than anything she has done herself.

=== War Against Ash Sea Islands ===

As a result of Aeryn's successful performance as both Marshal and Countess, Queen Armitage appointed Aeryn to both the Military Council and the Royal Council.  However, Aristoi Atamarism did not remain the only religion in Abington for very long.  Nemesis was appointed as the lord of Monagle, and almost immediately founded the Pantheist Path.  Furthermore, Lord Brakus went on a pilgrimage to the North and brought back with him the religion of the North known as The Hammer.  Arch-Priest Gauihu, who was an Aristoi at the time, instituted a policy of religious toleration.  Nevertheless, hostilities began to emerge between the quarreling faiths, and Queen Armitage created the first Religious Council, on which Aeryn chaired.

When Ash Sea Islands initiated the "Blitzkrieg Conspiracy" against Abington, Aeryn was in Tandsu defending RedSpan's new region from TaraShe immediately began the long journey home to defend her own realm.  However, Ash Sea Islands had acquired a large number of allies, including Minas Ithil and TaleriumThe ''Battle of Lurgrod (July 22nd, 8533 vs. 1028)'' was the first battle of this new war, and Aeryn fought under the banner of Mikhail Sergei, but the most remarkable battles of Aeryn's military career were yet to come.

Eventually, Queen Armitage retired, and Arch-Priest Gauihu was elected as the new KingThe King decided that Duke Spiritmonger, who happened to be the brother of Nemesis, had been Duke long enough, and requested his resignation.  Instead, the Duke seceded from Abington and thus founded a new realm, which was called AquitaineAt the time, the Pantheists were confined mostly to the Riverholm duchy, and they were led by Nemesis and Spiritmonger, and so the Pantheists were eliminated as a sanctioned religion of AbingtonShortly after the fledgling realm was conquered by Abington, Duke Magnus the Mighty of Wayburg, who had become the Hammer's representation in Abington, also seceded, thus eliminating the Hammer as a sanctioned religion, leaving only the Aristoi as an official religion of Abington, and the Religious Council was disbanded.  The religious affairs of Abington were thus left entirely in the hands of Aeryn.

==== The Battle of Wayburg ====

Duchess Callisto also announced her intentions to secede, and Duke Martok of Narville announced his intentions to join with her new realm.  King Gauihu became insane with anger, and initiated such brutal leadership tactics that High-Marshal Xuanye, who was also Duke of Stoneville at the time, began a rebellion against the King.  The rebellion was successful, which brought an end to the Kingdom of Abington.  The Republic of Abington was born, in which Aeryn struggled to maintain favour.  She campaigned for the position of Minister of Justice as well as Minister of Defense, twice each, but was denied on each occasion.  She was also rejected for a promotion to Dukedom on numerous occasions.  During an invasion by the Cagilan Empire, Aeryn was imprisoned and lost her titles as Countess and Marshal, neither of which were restored upon her release.  It seemed Aeryn's impressive climb up Abington's hierarchy had come to an end; however, the Republic of Abington did not last long.

From Lurgord, Aeryn headed towards Wayburg to counter the new Minas Ithil colony, which was jointly defended by MI and Talerium.  After a small ''Battle in Chasnoff (July 24th, 18260 vs. 590)'', Aeryn arrived at the ''Battle of Wayburg (July 24th, 46960 vs 4773)'' where Abington was outnumbered nearly 3 to 1, but the battle was a victory nonetheless.  Under unique diplomatic relations, MI and Talerium forces were persuaded to turn against their colony.  As a result, the forces were weighed heavily in favor of Abington and MI troops fought against their brethren MI colonists.  Aeryn squeezed through the overcrowded siege engines and broke through the frontlines, inflicting many hits on the colonists.

Eventually, Duchess Callisto seceded from Abington and founded the Kingdom of Suville.  Aeryn was immediately elected as the Arch-Priestess of Suville.  Shortly afterwards, the now Queen Callisto retired as Duchess, appointing Aeryn as her successor and restoring Aeryn's command as the Marshal of the Army of Suville.  Aeryn's patience and commitment had finally paid off.

==== The Battle of Sudfern ====

After the forces loyal to the Minas Ithil colony were devastated, Aeryn began to track down the MI troops who were looting nearby regions.  She and the other Abington nobles caught up with some of the MI troops at the first ''Battle of Sudfern (July 25th, 856 vs. 17112)'', but the rest would make it all the way to the ''Battle of Stoneville (July 26th, 14889 vs. 1248)'' before being wiped out.

After a day spent in Stoneville recovering, Aeryn met Talerium forces at the second ''Battle of Sudfern (July 27th, 21070 vs. 18860)'' during which Aeryn was wounded and her unit was wiped out after being surrounded by enemy forces.  It was not the last time during this war that Aeryn's unit would be wiped out, but Sudfern was by far the most brutal battle Aeryn fought.

==== The Kybcyell Takeover ====

After Aeryn's unit was wiped out again in the ''Battle of Lanston (August 4th, 11797 vs. 6867)'', Aeryn volunteered for a special mission led by Mikhail Sergei, the Marshall of the Army of Suville.  Ash Sea Islands were sending reinforcements to Kybcyell, the Minas Ithil colony, in an attempt to disrupt Abington's takeover of Wayburg.  Aeryn and the other volunteer nobles followed the ASI forces, engaging in the relatively small battles of ''Wynford (August 5th, 1705 vs. 169)'', ''Lanston (August 6th, 4588 vs. 646)'', ''Matakonis (August 6th, 3603 vs. 96)'', and ''Chasnoff (August 7th, 3538 vs. 734)'' in an attempt to weaken Kybcyell's reinforcements before they could arrive in Wayburg.  The reinforcements were wiped out, but the takeover attempt failed.  The final battle undertaken during this special mission was the ''Battle of Wayburg (August 8th, 861 vs. 7802)'' as the first wave of the second takeover attempt.

== Political Career ==

While still in Wayburg, preparing for Abington's second attempt at a takeover of Wayburg, Aeryn received a letter from her Duchess Callisto, Royal Treasurer of Abington, to meet her in Suville.  Once she was granted leave by High Marshall Xuanye, Aeryn met Callisto in Suville from where she was escorted to Washford, and on August 11th, Aeryn was appointed the Countess of Washford.  Afterwards, Aeryn found herself conflicted between obeying the orders of High Marshall Xuanye and the orders of Duchess Callisto.  The situation was resolved when Xuanye gave Aeryn his blessing to become a bureaucrat.  And so Aeryn's political career began.

=== Countess of Washford ===

Aeryn found herself temporarilly without a liege after her former liege, Sir Phlex, was captured while infiltrating in Ash Sea Islands.  Sir Phlex was the Count of Washford, but the position become vacant when Sir Phlex became imprisoned.  Aeryn than choose Lady Callisto (Duchess of Suville, Royal Treasurer of Abington) as her new liege, and Lady Callisto choose Aeryn as the new Countess of Washford.

==== Assassination ====

On Austust 22nd, while on her way to Wayburg to raise the morale of the newly reacquired city, an assassin stabbed Aeryn (twice) before escaping back into the shadows, leaving Aeryn seriously wounded for several days.  The assassin was never caught, nor even his identity ever determined.  It is believed that it was the same assassin that struck Mia a few days earlier.  Aeryn had been patrolling the streets looking for Mia's attacker when the assassin struck Aeryn.

==== Monsters in Washford ====

Finding herself ineffective in Wayburg, Aeryn decided to return to Suville for training and than on to Washford to tend to her own people.  The people of Washford were becoming demoralized for a number of reasons, and just as Aeryn arrived in Washford, 25 monsters arrived to complicate the situation.  Aeryn immediately attacked, (Battle of Washford, Sept. 4th 2006, 291 vs. 1560), and managed to kill 7 before her unit was wiped out.

Eventually, Queen Armitage retired, and Arch-Priest Gauihu was elected as the new King. The King decided that Duke Spiritmonger, who happened to be the brother of Nemesis, had been Duke long enough, and requested his resignation. Instead, the Duke seceded from Abington and thus founded a new realm, which was called Aquitaine. At the time, the Pantheists were confined mostly to the Riverholm duchy, and they were led by Nemesis and Spiritmonger, and so the Pantheists were eliminated as a sanctioned religion of Abington. Shortly after the fledgling realm was conquered by Abington, Duke Magnus the Mighty of Wayburg, who had become the Hammer's representation in Abington, also seceded, thus eliminating the Hammer as a sanctioned religion, leaving only the Aristoi as an official religion of Abington, and the Religious Council was disbanded. The religious affairs of Abington were thus left entirely in the hands of Aeryn.
