Alanna is Ariana's younger sister. She originally came hoping to aid Ariana in the defense of Ikalak, but her ship was blown off-course, and she landed instead on the South-East Island. Alanna is the shortest of the Anaris nobles, standing no more than 5 feet 4 inches. She has bright golden hair and ice-blue eyes, and prefers flamboyant flame colours--bright reds, golds, and oranges. Her face is slenderer than her sister's, and even more susceptible to quick changes of mood: when she has just won a battle, her eyes practically glow with fierce joy, but when she is slighted, her face looks like an approaching storm. With her recent changes of location and status, though, she tends to be irritable a lot of the time. She is very good with both sword and bow, and carries both a longbow and a bastard sword, though she prefers the bow.

Ikalak (SEI)

Alanna's first home in these lands was in Ikalak, on the South-East Island. She arrived there in the gray twilight before time flowed, and was one of the founding members of the Republic. She held many positions within Ikalak, gaining the position of battlegroup commander early on due to her prowess in battle as well as her strategic knowledge and ability. In less than 4 months, she was popular enough that she would have been elected Ruler, had she met the prerequisites. As she was not, she was elected Judge, instead--a position she had not even run for--but she stepped down from that to be appointed General.

She remained General until she had to return to her homeland to attend the funeral of her aunt and uncle, the parents of Delvin and Anton, who sacrificed themselves to save the children of their village from being mercilessly slaughtered by the forces of Jilak Darkmoon. Some time after she returned, she was, at last, elected Ruler, which she would remain until she was captured by Sandalakian forces in the late stages of the war. While she languished in their dungeons, the Sandalakian Judge, Sheldar, subjected her to truly horrific tortures for many hours, hoping to break her will.

He failed.

When she emerged, she was no longer the same woman--but she was not broken; she had simply had a change of perspective. It was around that time that she realized just how much her own identity had become subsumed by her role as Ruler, and, earlier, General of Ikalak. Not long later, she left the South-East Island, seeking a new way: seeking herself. That search would drive her to keep moving, from one land to another, never truly belonging to any one place.

Old Grehk

When she left Ikalak, Alanna followed Quinn Bellator to Old Grehk, on Beluaterra. She felt that he, and his strange religious beliefs, might help her to find herself. She was not particularly content in Old Grehk, though it provided a welcome rest for a time. Before long, though, she felt restless, and when Quinn was banished for speaking his mind regarding an ill-planned rebellion by a rather childish noble, she followed him to the other end of the continent--to her cousin's realm, Riombara.

Riombara

Riombara suited Alanna very poorly. At the time, the realm was enjoying a period of peace between the rebuilding following the invasion and the Great War that would grow to engulf half of Beluaterra in bloodshed. She also doesn't get along terribly well with her cousin--he's too uptight for her taste; she's too cavalier about things like morals for his. Less than a month after coming to Riombara, Alanna left, taking ship for a place she had heard of as being very different from her usual surroundings--perhaps different enough to push her into finding her own way and her own self again. A place called Outer Tilog.

Outer Tilog

Alanna found Outer Tilog to be a very strange place. However, at first, it was a strangeness that amused and interested her. She even found a quest to help keep herself occupied--she agreed to aid the strange mostly-undead Sadi SaDiablo search for a spellcaster in the catacombs beneath the city of Outer Tilog. However, it's not easy finding a good time to meet with someone who's pretty much dead all day, and, though she managed to make some progress toward finding her way into the catacombs, Sadi sailed away before they ever found the spellcaster he sought.

That irked her rather, and she was somewhat directionless for months thereafter. However, during those months, she had time to reflect, and, to some degree, to heal from her terrible trauma at the hands of Sheldar. At length, growing bored of the increasingly tiresome drivel the true Tilogians seemed to enjoy, she decided it was once again time to move on--this time to whatever destination the first ship out of the harbour happened to have.

Ikalak (SWI)

Much to her consternation and surprise, the ship dropped her off in Toren Stronghold, capital of Ikalak on the South-West Island. At first, Alanna feared for her sanity and her very identity, worried that she would once again lose herself to loyalty to Ikalak. However, it wasn't long before it became quite clear to her that this Ikalak was not the Ikalak she remembered and was so loyal to. Before long, she made a decision: she would remain here and help them, if only because their military was (to her eyes) woefully inept, and she could not stand military ineptitude. After all, this was a chance to gain at least some catharsis by destroying Sandalak...even if it was not the same Sandalak that had so injured her. Within a short time, she was made Marshal of one of the private armies of Ikalak, and admitted to the War Council there.
