The Second Southasland Rebellion

The second Southasland rebellion started a could afternoon on the 7th of Febuary 2005. It was initiated by Panthesilia calling for an uprising against the current government. In a passionate speech she said:

DECLARATION

Dear Southaslanders, fellow Tuchanians,

The time has come for a real change! We dream of a realm, where the people will actually rule, not through a tyrannical regime, but through participatory procedures, mutual decisions, active choices, common interests but most importantly through a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED council!

Thus, I’m honoured to declare the beginning of a New Era, the Era of Justice, Equity and Freedom for all, no matter his or her past and previous deeds!

Let’s fight altogether for a better future, a better tomorrow!

I am personally committed NOT TO BAN anybody that will stay neutral in this conflict. The Democratic regime that will rise through this socio-political move will guarantee for ever, the public acceptance of the council!

The People decide, the People choose, the People Vote! And this can never happen in a Dictatorship!

Join us proud Nobles of these lands! Get rid of external interference and build your own future!

Soon she, followed by four other noble Southaslanders among them the veteran Southaslander Wallace, tried to storm the capital, Tucha. But the mighty walls of Tucha have stood many an attack from a far supperior enemy forces and, as the battle report written into the annals of Tucha tells, the rebels was far outnumbered:

The incumbent Duke of Tucha, Edvard the Deacon had only contempt for the rebel attack:

You would think that they would understand this miliita thing by now. Lister, did I call this one or what? Don't worry, I have everything under control.

The harsh Southasland Executor Teram II was quick to rage against the rebels threatening them with the executioner's axe and dishonourable bans:

To all who would consider joining a rebellion against our government:

Look at the situation. How many troops guard our capital? More than any amount of rebels could hope to overcome. This rebellion will fail, pure and simple. And when it does, all who have taken part in it will see the wrath of Tuchanon III. (If you don't know what that means, see if anyone will tell you about the death of Boromea.)

Join the loyalists - or at least remain neutral - to avoid failure. Panthesilia, I have a special room in the dungeon for you.

Another loyalist was quick to claim the goverment to be the best and right for Southasland:

Oh for the love of...

Democracy! Great idea. Isn't that where all the members of a community are allowed to give their opinion on how things should be done? Come to think of it, that's sort of like how things are run here! Honestly now, the "dictator" Lister has been ever willing to listen to any suggestions. I don't know how those rebelling could feel otherwise because they never voiced opinions prior to now. As a matter of fact, I think the only people doing anything to affect this realm are the people on the council.

This message has two parts: The first of which is to mock the fools in the rebellion. Why do you suppose Tucha is the most well fortified (walls and Militia) city in the game? I'm just guessing here, but it's probably because of the almost effective counter-rebellion that hit us before we had time to properly prepare. Secondly, I would encourage those of you who keep silent to speak if you have something constructive. This realm is a tyranny out of neccessity, not really in practice.

I'd like to formally thank Tokanan for all his work in bringing food to our realm. It has been an immense help in our time of need and he should certainly be recognized and commended for his actions. Well done, sir.

I would like to apologize. The message I sent earlier was (and is) intended to shame the rebels who cry about democracy without trying to speak their minds ahead of time. Rushing into a rebellion for the sake of rebellion is foolish and they are now paying for their treachery.

There have been a number of people who while not on "The Council" have positivly affected this realm, and I will be the first to say I appreciate it.

By now the dictator cut through and drew a clear picture of the govermental plan for Southasland:

You silly rabbits! Didn't you pay attention to what everyone was saying after the rebellion? We are going to convert to a democracy at the first chance.

If this was true time have to show. Maybe the rebellion only will feed the suspeciousness of the ruling council and make it even more closed and secret than it were. One thing was sure the rebellion had devided Southasland into a firm core, from the recent first rebellion, and the rest. As the rebels realized they were facing sure defeat against the legendary walls of Tucha they tried one last time to get the Southasland nobility to join them:

Southaslanders and Tuchanian fools!

Do you really believe that the governance system can change so easily? The ONLY way to change it is through rebellion! And that was our main target...reform the Governance System! Why do you think that it was said from the begining that there will be no bans? There's not a problem here -as I perceive it- against individuals! It is a movement against a corrupted system not the people that represent it!

Nevertheless it seems that the people of Tucha has decided...Even the militia unexpectantly took part in this conflict protecting the current regime!

It is pitty though...just imagine how great this realm could be under a political structure that can embed to all participating TLs motives based on equity, justice, voice and moreover, the right to choose!

I'm afraid that the Dictatorship will be permament...and as the formal mechanisms to support a fair chosing of the people's representatives do not exist, there's no room for free spirits here.

Farewell Tuchanians, Southaslanders, puppets of an oppressive regime, that no matters how fair is its leader, it simply can't work...

You know that you have to win battles in the Capital? and you know that the militia fights on the side of the loyalists?

Though the rebel leader did not admit any bad planing, she showed her holehearted and noble cause:

I know that you are all honest here and that is why i can be straightforward with you all...

No, the militia shouldn't have fought against the rebels! Militia have had to stay neutral! The same applies to Neutral TLs and the fortification use as well...

Anyway, it is a sad past now... I wish you the best and hopefully you won't regret the governance system you have chosen!

You know I'm coming from a continent where a sucessful rebellion errupted because of the dictatorship! The Tyrant - who was a fine guy by the way - was assasinated...and then an incapable person was elected, not willing to step down! As a result unrest, conflicts and finally rebellion...

I shall fight against tyrranies all over the continents! My life is devoted to this cause!

To bad your partners in crime didn't inform you about our plan to switch our government before you started your rebellion!

We could have started the rebellion together and changed the form. It is unfortunate that you didn't ask questions about it before you started the rebellion. Now you look stupid (yet hot in a hairy woman way) and you will end up dead.

you are pitiful souls.

I read that you try this rebellion for the people in this realm, but yet the majority of nobles opposes you.

And besides, who wants to be ruled by fools - and fools you are, as your rebellion does show. Badly planned and executed without an eye for the reality.

And this reality is that this government is not composed of fools. Contrary to the former rulers, weh ave made sure that Tucha is not easily falling prey to some badly executed scheme - we are so well protected that we HAVE to stay with a Tyranny for now, as we can not, in the light of enemies approaching, avoid to risk our protection.

Where our Rebellion was planned and executed and succeserded, all you succeeded in was getting your poor men slaughtered. Learn your lesson.

After two full days of rebellion the goverment succeeded in suppressing the rebels and they were all banned from by the executor Vos Estis.
