Faust cautiously enters the cave of the alpha beast and checks for any more monsters before rummaging for loot. The fight had been hard and long but it had been well worth it!
There were piles of coins in the corpses of the beast's victims. He could use all this money to buy better gear, and it would still feed him for weeks.
Faust is nearly finished looking through the strewn corpses when he notices a small hole in the wall at ground level; far too small for even the smallest of these beasts to fit through.
Curiosity getting the better of him, Faust starts squeezing through. The hole opens up to a small cave, barely high enough to kneel within. At the far side of the cave, leaning against a wall, are the skeletal remains of a scholar; judging by the look of the rich colours on the decaying robes it was clothed in. What really catches Faust's eye is the tome - dark leather engraved with patterns in a still-rich, red dye. Taking the book from the body and brushing the dust and cob webs off, the spine reads as, "The Book of the Damned". Opening the book and flicking to a random page, he sees columns of names, the names of nobles and heroes that had lived and died in Dwilight.
Faust wraps the book carefully in his spare cloak and packs it into his pack. Time to head back to Fissoa and see what he can get for this artifact!
