[[Mercer_Family|Mercer]] definitely got a point of fame when increasing a bounty on himself from 1000 to 1500, so the fame point comes from some bounty amount 1000<X<=1500, and the number of nobles placing the bounty is irrelevant because in this case that number was only 1 or 2. : One of the popular guesses is that there are something between the Fame and the number of nobles adding to the bounty. I hold this to be unlikely as well, because contrary to what is stated on the bounty board that all additions are anonymous, this will require a few more hidden variables attached with the bounty to do the checks on this Fame. And if this Fame was not there as early as the bounty board function was implemented, this might cause some problems. More importantly, it is my own belief that all of the Fame points are checking on some parameters that can be viewed by the players as well, hence the above guess has basically violated this belief of mine. | : One of the popular guesses is that there are something between the Fame and the number of nobles adding to the bounty. Bounty Fame
- Source
- From one of Tom's hints in Lemon Fame.
- Guess
- Related with the amount of gold be put up within a single addition.
- Deduction
- It seems safe to assume that there is no Fame for the sheer size of the bounty, at least not solely depend on which. We know that the highest bounty ever is 1550 gold. We know from Tom's hints that this Bounty Fame has been collected by some. I have a character with a bounty of 1000 gold but there is no Fame for this. So unless a trigger was set for a bounty beyond 1000 gold, which seems very unlikely to me, continuing the search towards this direction will likely to yeild no result. Mercer definitely got a point of fame when increasing a bounty on himself from 1000 to 1500, so the fame point comes from some bounty amount 1000<X<=1500, and the number of nobles placing the bounty is irrelevant because in this case that number was only 1 or 2. (12/23/12)
- One of the popular guesses is that there are something between the Fame and the number of nobles adding to the bounty.
- The assumption that this Fame is related with the amount of gold in a single addition you make is also an extension of such belief. It sounds logical, is something the Fame trigger can check on without attaching more hidden variables, and is something the player can see. Mercer did not get fame for an early 500 gold bounty increase on himself, but did when a later increase put the bounty above 1000, so the fame seems only related to the total bounty, not any single addition (12/23/12)
Skill(s) Fame
- Source
- From one of Tom's hints in Fame page and Lemon Fame.
- Guess
- Well, in fact we are almost sure that the threshold indicating "exceptional" is at 50%. What we don't know is that whether all eight skills currently inside the game stand for their own independent Fame point or share over one single point.
- Deduction
- Well, I have to admit this is a really hard one. For some reasons I seem to be able to relate all of my unaccounted mysterious points so far with an arbitrary character breaking through 50% in a new skill category, but that is not enough to prove that all these points - 3 to be exactly - are from the Skill(s) Fame. Mercer's careful observation is that Swordfighting and Jousting definitely provide fame, and Trading does not. It seemed that Preaching also does not. (12/23/12)
Marshal Fame
- Source
- From one of Tom's hints in Fame page and Lemon Fame.
- Guess
- A battle huge enough, perhaps the using of marshal staff is required.
- Deduction
- Too little is known to make any useful deductions. It's placed here simply because it is more than plausible. Doesn't mean we know more about it.
Plausible
Trader Fame
- Source
- From one of Tom's hints in Fame page.
- Guess
- Ending starvation without profit.
- Deduction
- Reported by Gloria Santos. Sounds plausible, but perhaps a little bit too easy? Shouldn't be hard to varify if you have a trader character.
- Observation
- I just sold 100 bushels of food to Mimer city (pop: 13377) at a price of 1 gold. The city was starving. I received the following message: "The locals rejoice as they hear of the good news, some of them had been starving already." I immediately got a fame point.
- To reinforce this fame point (by Aaron Crandall). As a Warrior/Trader I sold 350 bushels to Barad Falas (pop: 45000) at a price of 1 gold. The city had just begun starving and I too received the following message: "You sell 350 units of Food to the warehouse for a total of 3 gold. No other characters had been played and I did look at the family fame before I began my turn, knowing this was possible. Yes, the family gained one fame point after only that action being taken. Date: 2009-06-15
- Modified Guess
- Ending starvation, without profit.
- Observation
- I have a new fame point and the only notable thing I've done is buy food for 25 gold and sell it for 75 gold to a starving city a few days later. --egamma 04:21, 9 December 2010 (CET)
- Observation
- Mercer got the trader fame point on the first trade, which had two notable features: feeding a starving city (at great profit!) and bringing exotic goods from the other side of the continent. Combined with the other observations, it seems that the fame comes from feeding a starving city.
Religion Fame
- Source
- From one of Tom's hints in Fame page and Lemon Fame.
- Guess
- Loren suggested it has something to do with either the combined sizes of all temples
, or the declaration of a state religion, or perhaps both. (There is no game mechanic to declare a religion as the state religion of a realm.)
- Deduction
- Sounds plausible, but seems not easy to be verified.
- Perhaps invalidated by the discovery of the Prophet Fame?
- It is thought that the fame for founding a religion is the same fame for founding a guild. So if you have already formed a guild, then forming a religion gets you nothing right away. Then there is a Prophet fame for the religion becoming a success in addition to that.
Infiltrator Career Fame
- Source
- From one of Tom's hints in Fame page and Lemon Fame.
- Guess
- Total bounties collected, amount or times.
- Deduction
- From "technically also in others, but I doubt anyone but an infi could really pull it off", I would guess it referred to the fact one can collect bounties by seriously wounding or killing someone else. And the comment was given before Duel was implemented.
- Perhaps invalidated by the discovery of the Outlaw Fame?
Family Honor
- Source
- Observations
- Guess
- There are levels of family honor that grant fame, just as there are levels of family prestige that grant fame.
- Observation
- Mercer got a point of fame when total family honor hit 800.
- Above 800, there has not been another point of fame up to 1320.
- Further Guess
- The thresholds for family honor fame may follow some exponential progression. There may have been fame at 400 that went unnoticed, and there may be fame at 1600, which I am looking out for.
