"The prosperous lands of bards, cavaliers and merchants." |
In a small gathering of commoners, the children are sitting on the first rows listening carefully to a man narrating a story...
"He was the first nobleman to have reached so close to the City of Paisly, but landfall was impossible due to the large numbers of wild creatures that were rampaging the shores. Lord Albert de Blanc, the Lord Admiral of the Isle Republic of Madina, had to call off the campaign and instructed his men to fall back to Madina City until the time to sail to Paisly had come again. The way back was more difficult than expected and a heavy storm delayed his return to the island a lot. High waves and thunders were covering the dark skies.
After fifteen days of sailing, the plans of taking over the distant City were left aside. The proper defence of the newly founded Republic was a task much more important than the acquisition of Paisly and Lord Albert de Blanc did well to know that. It took more than a month until he attempted landfall to the shores of Paisly again, but this time he did not go alone. With the Republican Army under his command, an entire detachment consisted of loyal and devoted noblemen that shared a common vision, an independant realm in the West that is, followed Lord Albert de Blanc till the City of Paisly with ambitions different than his.
A dozen of decorated sailing-vessels left the shores of Madina City heading to the North-West, something that I will never forget. When the expedition reached Paisly, the common folk had already escaped from the wild creatures, their fear of a similar attack in the future though motivated them to accept the rule of the noblemen. Thus, a couple of days later, Lord Albert de Blanc under the blesses of the legitimate Crown of the Isle Republic of Madina was officially appointed as the first Governor of Paisly. The wild creatures who had left the City of Paisly to seek food on the outskirts smelled the noble blood nearby and all together in one force headed back to Paisly. Fortunately, the Governor of Paisly was well prepared for them and after three days of continuous rough battles, the noble forces managed to protect the common folk and secure the devastated City.

To ensure his stay in Paisly, the locals offered to the Governor their entire fortunes, more than a thousand of gold coins that he graciously accepted. The long distance from the Capital of Madina was making the return trip for refit impossible though as the City of Paisly would then remain undefended and valnurable to similar attacks for days to come. After a long time of disaster, the City of Paisly did finally enjoy some peace and prosperity; it was then when the song of the nighingale was first heard in the City of Paisly resting the soul and the mind of the exhausted Madinian forces. With a much weakened army at his disposal, there was only one way for Governor Albert de Blanc to protect the City and the nightingale did well to inform him; a true sign from the gods.
By taking the great amounts of gold that he was entrusted with by the folk and investing them in the development of military and trade facilities, in a few days the City of Paisly turned to a self-sufficient City that was more than ready to undertake a new role, that one of the Capital of a powerful sovereign realm. Thus, upon the take over of Paisland, the City of Paisly declared independence and a temporary government was established in small ceremony at the ducal estates. The newly founded realm was made known with the name of Melodia, the lands of bards and merchants as they were planned to be, and slowly sailing-vessels from all over the world appeared in the horizon carrying more and more colonists to the new realm.
That is why these lands belong to House de Blanc and why we all should be grateful for having such a kind and wise Monarch to look after us."
Upon leaving the gathering, one can hear to a man claiming that the storyteller is Captain Lupus, the entrusted soldier of the Crown, the Monarch's loyal follower in all of His travels.
