The Rusty Staff of the Ancients was said to have been created by the progenitors of humanity on Beluaterra that according to legend first opened the gates into the Daimon realm and began the cycles of invasion. The metal it is made of is resistant to decay, but legend has it many eons ago a powerful "Curse of Rust" spell was cast upon it. The staff absorbed the magic within itself, protecting an army from losing its weapons and armor in the process. Slowly year by year the curse spreads through the weapon, its magic still trapped inside, but it can also be used to channel the ancient magics. Touching metal objects causes them to decay and rust legend has it.
