The Plague of Aquilegia

In late Summer of 9 YD, a horrible plague broke out in Flowrestown and spread swiftly across the realm. It snuffed out as fast as it erupted, but the damage was massive. Aquilegia lost seventy percent of its nobility including the region Lords of Flow and Fatexna, the Cleric, the Duchess of Flowrestown and the Emperor.

The remaining nobles scrambled to regain control of the realm. A heated election race occurred on who would rule post-plague Aquilegia. On one side was the progressive secularish Bowie Ironsides, who was the Viscount of Ashrak, versus the theocratic Maximus Westfall, who was the Tithe Overseer and Ambassador. Both argued for the best of Aquilegia, but in the end Aquilegia was reaffirmed a theocracy. For Emperor (now known as Archbishop), Lord Maximus won 8 to 4 against Lord Bowie. In the race for Overlord (now known as Holy Minister of War) Lord Bowie won unopposed. Election for Cardinal of Finance is still underway, and a High Inquisitor has already been selected from the crop of Astromancers. A reordering began after the election that is still in process. From major restructuring of the governing system to military reforms, Aquilegia is being rebuilt and reformed.

On the subject of the war with Xinhai, at this moment it seems as though things will continue unabated.

Aquilegia may still face suffering before it can be strengthened, but it is slowly and surely fortifying itself for survival. With hard work, cooperation and community, Aquilegia will rise again as a stronger realm than it was before. This, its nobles dearly wish for.
