The First Real Victory        12th October 2007

This morning, the fate of the human realms (or atleast those not aligned with the Daimons or ndead) sharply changed for the better. On the shores of the sea in Mio Dupaki, Riombara the undead's pathway here was closed. Eight adventurous souls each brought a "portal stone" to the site. Reports tell us that when the eight stones were brought together the portal in the region was revealed. A shimmering gateway between the world of the living, and that of the dead could briefly be seen over the calm pellucid waters. Moments later the tones joined to form a wall, barring the portal and rendering it impassible. Because of this, the Necromancer's Servants most likely will cease to play a major role in the war between humans and their monstrous allies and the Daimons and their three human allies. If the skeletal forces continue to assault the humans though, it will likely not be directed at the south and will certainly be more difficult. The success in Riombara was a joint effort that brought together former enemies Sint, Heen, Fronen, and Enweil all aided in the closing of the portal (according to Chancellor Handkor of Enweil).

Defense Minister Herkan of Riombara called this success "The first real human victory over our foes." Prime Minister Delvin of Riombara says that now "we should be able to rid ourselves of this menace once and for all." Fronenian Prime Minsiter Grego calls it "Great News form our brothers."

All in all, despite everything it seems humanity still has a lot of fight in it and the Non-Human factions are not so invulnerable as we may have previously thought.

Manhunt        8th October 2007

Over the past week we've seen the unknown Avalonian infiltrator Saladin Ymerej descend from obscurity into infamy. The man, without orders from the Avalonian government, attempted to murder three nobles. The first two, Lord Reyes of Jyl and a visiting Melhedish preacher were attacked in close succession. Neither assassination attempt was successful. Both wer ewounded, but neither killed. After performing the grisly deed, Saladin fled from Fronen to Avalon, his homeland. However he was chased by Fronen's skillful infiltrators and was wounded in Zod. After his wounds healed, what did Saladin do? He tried to kill his own Chancellor, Lady Scarlet only to be seized by Avalonian guards. Saladin has no sanctuary for Fronen and Avalon both have a bone to pick with this man. Enweil too has offered to capture him or attack him with their own infiltrators should Saladin enter Enweilean lands. At the moment, Saladin is in Avalonian prisons and it appears that he will be punished severely.

Riombara Refuses to Relinquish Regions        2nd October 2007

The results of the referendum in the Republic of Riombara are in. If you recall from our last issue, the undead demanded the Riombarans surrender all their land save their capital or face annihilation. The response was resounding:

34 votes no 8 votes yes 8 abstentions and/or ballots not cast

The Riombarans overwhelmingly rejected the Necromancer's Servants clear infringement of their sovereignty and concluded that they do not want to be slaves of slaves so to speak. Now, one would think the undead would do as Summoner announced, go off and destroy Riombara. However, after heaping blame on humanity for their current situation Summoner made it clear that he first plans to attack of all places, the Kingdom of Alluran then Vlaanderen, a realm allied with the Daimons oddly enough and only then will they strike in the heart of Riombara again. Strange behavior, and strange military tactics to say the least...

Theocracy under new management: The realm of Sint has elected god as its new Divine Ruler        2nd October 2007

Okay so that actually a bit of hyperbole. Sint hasn't elected a deity to become Chief Pontiff, but interesting developments happened there all the same. First, a little cultural context is in order. The Sintians follow a god called Hemaglobe and have an organized religion (as one might expect in a theocracy) known as the Church of Hemaism. Little is known to this reporter about Hemaglobe except that he is a Dragon (or maybe he just commands Dragons... could a Hemaist correct me if anything here is inaccurate?) According to the Haruspex in Sint, Hemaglobe is kind to the Sintians and his worshippers, but he is not a peaceful deity. Hemaism is not a religion of peace. Hemaglobe is not averse to send his legions, be they human or beastial to attack enemies of the Hemaist faith according to their doctrine.

Also according to Hemaist doctrine is that Hemaglobe has three major lieutenants to do his bidding. One of them is called Hastur, that's where our story really begins. Reports from both the Sintian Pontifex and Sintian Harupsex is that Hastur has come to Sint in physical form. He is a Daimon that takes the form of a mighty dragon who leads an army of wyvern-like Daimons. According to the Pontifex, Hemaglobe himself will come to Beluaterra within days. When he arrives, he will likely order the Daimons he controls and the Hemaist Sintians to attack believers of other faiths who consider Hemaism evil. So in actuality, God is the new ruler of Sint. The Pontifex's power will be nothing now that a mediator between the heavens and earth is no longer needed.

Obviously all this new information coming out of Sint is both overwhelming and dubious because of it's radical nature. However, should it prove true (and we should know fairly soon) it will almost surely have broad implications for all of Beluaterra.

Thank the Dragon it's Friday! 11th October 2007

Yes, TDIF! The nobility of our Republic of Fronen was relieved today. For a whole week, Fronen survived with minimal funds. The Republic is usually an incredibly wealthy nation. However Daimons (which currently can be found in Mhed and Wudenkin) have been scouring our lands and crippling our armies. Under these conditions, tax gold was spent quickly to replenish the forces. Fronen's National Reserve was slowly drained of all the funds long-hoarded. Now, though the frugal and hardworking Fronenian peasantry has pulled through for us. Now, we've got tax gold again to be used on more troops, wall repairs, and other expenditures necessary to national defense. We've had a hectic week, with the money lets now seriously get back to work.

Food Supplies Running Short? 11th October 2007

Despite the tactic of moving the food from the Daimons, it's not changing the fact that the Daimons have reduced production to all time lows in Fronen, bringing the food production to well below half of it's original amount. On top of that, food has also been coming up missing in some regions as well. At first it seemed like hungry bandits from the region but it is starting to become more... organized and suspicious now. There is still a call out for any who wish to become a trader to notify Cloud, or the council asap to not only help spread the food around the regions, but to keep it from the Daimons as well.

The FoF expands, Daimons flee from Fronen following an uneventful election 2nd October 2007

So, I've got a few updates for you all. First, the monthly elections for Prime Minister and Grand Justiciar here in Fronen are hardly worth reporting on. This campaign season didn't even exist. Incumbent PM Grego Nosferatus and I, the incumbent GJ both won with well over 60% of the vote each.

Of more interest perhaps is the knowledge that the Daimons are weakening. The strategy of starving the Daimons appears to be working. Finance Minister Cloud has been shifting food stocks about keeping them away from Daimons. Now, the weak army led by Dreadlord Reflecting (the one already weakened after their resounding defeat in Mhed is getting progressively smaller and weaker as the Daimons starve to death. For the first time, we're seeing Daimons flee at the sight of Fronen's troops when we tried to engage them in battle. Through all this Fronen has been weakened too! And the Daimons still fear us. How wonderful.

Last thing of note, the Face of Fronen will now be printing and distributing articles in Fronen's newest city, the golden metropolis of Wudenkin. It's only fitting that Fronen's news outlet expand with as the national borders do.
