Power? Glory? What interesting words. What you gain is what you seek. At present Aquilegia can house about triple the amount of nobles currently part of the realm. The secluded peninsula of the east can be a brilliant land of Eastern Dwilight, if not for the dearth of nobles.

The lands are among the richest in Dwilight. The system of politics ensures that opportunity for advancement is equal to both the longest-standing members and new members who show ability and loyalty. Where will the future of Aquilegia lead? The past provides the setting, but it is up to the intrepid visionaries to plot the story.

Do you seek riches? Or fame? Or...perhaps power? Do not be afraid to search, and you will find.

Founded in the fifth winter of Dwilight, on the Flow Peninsula, by five Morekian nobles, the colony works under the ideals of dedication to the faith, to loyalty, and to merit. The constitution of the realm may be found here: Aquilegian Constitution.

Aquilegia occupies a unique niche on Dwilight. Its capital of Flowrestown is the fourth overall largest and richest city on Dwilight, and the peninsula that connects it to the continent is accessible through very few points. Such geographical isolation, coupled with the mountains to the west, makes Aquilegia potentially one of the best geographically defensible realms on Dwilight. All that is required are those intrepid and loyal nobles who would be willing to work for the realization of the vision of a powerful realm in the mideastern Dwilight.

By order of the crown, a realm-wide project is under way to archive the services of nobles of Aquilegia. The current archive consists of the nobles of Flowrestown.

Oversight, as given in the constitution, is the authority of the Asterion, however in almost all cases practical and immediate power rests within the rights of the independent dukes. As proposed by the first ruler, Garret Artemesia, a flexible explanation of the roles and responsibilities of the nobles of Aquilegia can be found here: On the Roles and Responsibilities of the Nobles of Aquilegia Although the official paperwork lists Aquilegia as a theocracy, such a designation is subject to many interpretations. What makes Aquilegia unique is that it adheres to the feudal tradition in that dukes are responsible for their lords and ducal knights, and lords are responsible for their knights, but at the same time it incorporates some democratic aspects, as is evidenced by the Senate's role.

Voting is very important in Aquilegia. Individual voices are respected, and are heard, but one must first speak. The power of the popular vote is given to all nobles of Aquilegia, in equal weight for all regardless of position. Popular votes are used in most general diplomatic considerations and civil laws, but most importantly, in the process of representative election.

Regional lordships are elected by popular vote. Candidates are given at least two days to announce themselves, their interests, goals, and qualifications. Dukeship vacancies are subject to Senatorial vote, and the candidates are the current region lords, although anyone else can also be eligible if no region lord is interested. Council positions are appointed.

A strong military provides security for the realm, against enemies both human and inhuman. Discipline is a virtue most desirable in the military, but all nobles are encouraged to contribute their knowledge and their thoughts to the military council.

The current army is based in Flowrestown, called the Chersonis Themata. The marshal is Velox Anima and the second-in-command is Caiubi Andurá.

Repeated success against monster hordes despite heavily unfavorable odds makes Aquilegia able to be proud of its military tenacity. With only seven total nobles at one point, five of whom could battle, the Aquilegians managed to overcome a horde of monsters that possessed twice the strength of the entire realm's military combined through excellent tactics and dedicated and organized execution of such tactics.

http://wiki.battlemaster.org/images/Aquilegia_icon02.png Commerce

In the beginning stages, food will be a very valued commodity for Aquilegia. As Flowrestown grows to its maximum capacity, so too will its food requirement. The Fiduciary is responsible for the management of resources and the traders who transport it. As a stable realm it enjoys a prosperous economy, so the trading business could become profitable.

Aquilegia is currently in a bountiful and favorable trading partnership with Morek, the realm that possesses and produces the most food in Dwilight. Such an economic ally provides Aquilegia with commercial stability of resources.

http://wiki.battlemaster.org/images/Aquilegia_icon02.png Religion

The official religion of Aquilegia is Sanguis Astroism. The current phases of the Bloodstars can be found here.

http://wiki.battlemaster.org/images/Aquilegia_icon02.png Diplomatic Relations

The colonial founders of Aquilegia had all originated from Morek, and some friendships among the nobles remains. Ideas for possible federation with the most powerful realm in northeastern Dwilight are under consideration. Corsanctum, the prophet state for the representation of all Sanguis Astroism, is also at peace with Aquilegia. After the Dragon rebellion, the new Dragon King, Cenarious Stormrage, extended offers of peace to Aquilegia as a gesture to show that the new regime would follow a path different from Katayanna's. The public vote approved of the peace treaty. Both Summerdale and Virovene had offered Aquilegia peaceful relations, however minor instabilities in those two realms have forced diplomatic talks to be postponed for the moment with those two realms.
