Velaryon Family/Monterys/Wedding in Sirion/Lions in the Garden

As Kenneth made the various arrangements to settle Dustiria, Alyssa, and himself into the quarters available, he dispatched a few heralds to make the rounds. Some went to those he already knew had an interest in meeting, such as Ambassador Ambrose and his mystery lady. Some were diplomatic niceties going to their hosts and professing friendly sentiments appropriate to the occasion.
But one went to all and sundry, welcoming any discussion, party, or meetings they might wish to have with Perdan, her Judge-Magister or Ambassador, or (somewhat cheekily) a Priest of the Aspects of the Flame. Invitations to other gatherings were likely to be accepted, and events social or diplomatic were equally of interest. Any and all were welcome to reach out, though cautions were provided that while the Queen would take part in what she could, she had a personal interest in the grand events taking place and might well be focused on those. In essence, all those in Sirion City were given to understand that two at least of the Perdanese diplomatic contingent were interested in all of those around them, and looking forward to meeting or corresponding with as many as possible.

Dustiria was content to let Kenneth figure out the lodgings and setup what social activities that she needed to attend. She spent her time getting checked over by her healer Duncan and having stitches removed from the recent battle. One hand pet Burr, the fluffy, orange and white cat that road on her shoulders as it had ever since the volcano had exploded. She contemplated all the new sights they had ridden past and spent a moment writing to the families of the men she had just lost. To be so far north was a thing of wonder. Once the letters were sent she looked forward to joining Kenneth in exploring. mAybe even finding Burr a special treat. Time would tell.

With all the details of their arrangements finalized so Alyssa could focus on more important matters, he saw that a state dinner was going to be taking place later, which meant that until then...
"Shall we go explore the Gardens, love? Looks like we will have the better part of the day until the first real event, plenty of time to explore them to our heart's content. And if we can find a secluded corner..." His grin turned quite wicked.

After a mornings practice with the sword Monterys decided to take a walk through the Gardens of Sirion. Accompanied by his aide and guarded by three of his best knights, with his hands behind his back he gracefully toured the exotic landscape, thinking about the forthcoming wedding. He wore a golden tunic and a garnet cape, and let his silver hair hang freely. He spotted a small group of foreign nobles with lion insignia that were coming his way. Not really knowing many people outside of Sirion, he nudged his aide which was a signal that he needed help, after which a skilled whisper landed in his ear: "The Duke od Riverlands and Judge of Perdan, Kenneth MacArbin and Dustiria Noire. Your Graces is fitting title, my Lord." As Perdanese group approached Monterys made a courteous bow and said: "Duke Kenneth and Judge-Magister Dustiria, I presume? Your Graces, it is a pleasure to meet you here in our Lady's gardens. I hope the climate and the landscape are to your satisfaction, and I am glad to see that you've taken my suggestion to visit them. They are one of a kind."

Kenneth whispered a name to Dustiria as the new noble approached them.
Burr opened his copper eyes and looked at the man who spoke before resuming his nap across Dustiria's shoulders. The fluffy orange and white cat stood out against the simple purple dress she wore and her fiery reddish-orange hair. Dustiria herself had been walking arm and arm with Kenneth taking in the seemingly endless gardens when they were approached. "Well met Margrave Monterys. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance . The gardens far surpass any that I have seen before." Dustiria gives him an awkward smile. She still wasn't used to being in the foreground and showing emotions, nor needing guards instead of being one.

Kenneth returned the bow, adding with a smile. The young duke was wearing his usual favourite outfit, the one Smiddich had given him, with a sharp linen shirt, leather trousers, governor's jacket, and a short shoulder-cape. His heavy golden chain and lionshead pendant of Ambassadorial office added some necessary gravitas to the young man, with the only other jewelry a golden ring on his littlest left finger with garnets and sapphires set into a ying-yang pattern of fire and water. "And we both thank you for the recommendation, as well as congratulate you on your upcoming nuptials! On a more personal note, my lord, my family hails from Farrowfield, which I learned you had under your remit at one point. It is not often that I find others in the East that understand life in the wilds of western Dwilight, and I am curious how you feel about the contrast between the rawest of barely-colonized lands with the most ancient of the realms of the world, if you would care to share."

Monterys was caught somewhat off guard as Kenneth mentioned the Farrowfields. It was like a flashback from the past from his time as the Lord General of the Dragon Isles, where, in the pinnacle stages of the Gold Sea Conflict, he was appointed to govern the town that surrounded Golden Farrow just after he steered the islander armies to help Lyanna's brother Gheric win a crucial battle of the war. It was in the Farrowfield that his bond with Gheric was forged and Monterys couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the strange web that time and destiny weaved together - years later here he was in a continent where he still considered himself a stranger, about to be wedded to Gheric's little sister, the all-powerful Duchess Osmeneliath.
"Those are some old times and memories, Your Grace." Monterys began. "Yes, Farrowfield was a demesne I was entrusted to govern in the last stages of the war your family is well acquainted with. The MacArbins always striked me as an honorable house and I am very excited to see their scion here in East Continent, clearly rising to great heights as the Duke and Ambassador of a Kingdom of Perdan." He took a slight paused before the continued. "The contrast between the two worlds is abundant and since I hold considerable interest in adventurous endeavors it is somewhat natural that Dwilight offered a larger window of opportunities. However, as I have now found my Lyanna here I have discarded any ideas of returning back. I will tell you, though, that the one thing I miss the most is the high seas and the open horizons. Sea travel is much more developed there as Dwili vessels are robustly built and are more endurable, yet there was some fascinating development here now as well as I am told that dependable vessels can now carry large numbers of soldiery around the coasts of East Continent. Superstition towards this marvelous engineering achievement is still considerable among the courtlings of Sirion, but I am eager to try it." "I hope all is well in your homeland, Your Grace? I must also express my excitement to see both you and your charming wife at the state dinner this evening. They usually serve four courses at such events, and I know that Lyanna will ensure only the best is brought out."

Ambrose did not have many appointments waiting for him in Sirion but he had countless opportunities. After concluding the first priority business - visiting the herald's office and entering the jousting list - he took a walk to the famed Gardens of Sirion where Perdanese Lord Ambassador was supposedly waiting for him.
Ambrose looked very casual and somewhat dashing in his sleeveless leather doublette over a linen shirt and high riding boots. Obviously he wasn't much for dressing up but he did look quite organically in his attire. His chest was decorated with an elaborate pin, sporing a jumble of wings, beaks and claws. This pin significant he was himself Lord Ambassador of Caligus. He only spent a short while wondering around the gardens when he finally spotted his vis-a-vis. Thankfully he already knew Duke Kenneth from his visit to Domus and from the coronation in Perdan so recognizing him in person was not an issue. Ambrose approached and offered each person present a smile and a polite nod. "Your Grace, a pleasure to meet you again. And you, Margrave. Accept my congratulations. My Lady..." With that he paused, expecting the Duke to introduce him to his companion.

"The Caligan Ambassador!" Monterys exclaimed, seemingly excited to meet with Lord Ambrose. "A pleasure to see you again, Lord Ambrose. It has been many seasons since we last saw each other. First as comrades in Shadowdale and then as opponents in the last war. I am glad to hear about your rise in the Griffin Court and I will say loud and clear that I do not wish to meet you in the jousting matches." He chuckled and continued. "Your skills with the lance or the joust are well beyond my own and I would dare to say that you are one of the best jousters this tournament will offer. I will be watching your matches with great anticipation. And I am grateful for your good wishes for the wedding. We try very hard to meet the expected standards and I hope it will become very memorable."

Following the page sent by Lord Ambrose to garden Jafaria arrived in a modified priest gown fit for a judge, glistened black and purple armor covered on top, and wolf pelt cape covered the right shoulder. The page had spotted a crowd that he was apart and part in the direction. She thanked him and departed straight to to the crowd. She approached from an angle and greeted everyone. She curtsied "Greetings Lord Monterys, Duke Kenneth, and Lord Ambrose I hope you all are doing well. Lord Ambrose invited to the garden I hope I'm not intruding on anyone."

Ambrose smiled conceitedly at Monterys' words, crossing arms over his chest.
"Oh yes, my lord. Dare I say I have not yet met an equal at the tilts. Hopefully this tourney brings new opponents for me to unhorse. Say, will there be a bouquet which a winner has to give to any lady at the tourney who he wishes to honour? I hope this traditions exists in Sirion. Because there comes the lady I would name the queen of love and beauty." Ambrose beamed a smile as Lady Jafaria of Shadowdale was approaching them, a large wolf walking at her side. Once she came close, he kissed her hand and greeted her cordially. "My Lady, I am happy you made it in time. Please meet my good friends, lord ambassador Kenneth and his beautiful wife. And Lord Monterys the would be groom. We were just talking about how we first met, while serving the shadow throne. We go way back. As friends, then enemies, then hopefully friends again. Please meet Margravine Jafaria, my friends."

Dustiria looks confused as more people introduce themselves and either ignore her or call her Kenneth's wife. The Jude Magister wisely says nothing.

She blushed hearing his words of compliments and the kiss of the hand "Lord Ambrose my Dear you jest to much infront of your friends" "Oh Judge-Magister Dustiria I didn't know you were married to Ambassador Kenneth. I know you where coming but, I didn't know this. My apologies for not introducing you in order as well." She says and go for a quick hug to make up for it. "As for Lord Monterys we've briefly meet when he was chasing me and my detachment out of his lands" in a depressing tone "He did a bad number to my cavalry unit at the time. Really solidified my longing for the war to end. I hadn't been part of a campaign since that day."

Kenneth's smile was still pleasant, and only the most observant, or those who knew him quite well, would notice the small signs of tension around his eyes. "Ah, and this is the lady Ambassador Ambrose has been so mysterious about! A pleasure to meet you, Margravine, and of course it is no intrusion at all. The groom-to-be and I had a rather interesting historical connection, and before I forget, my lord, I quite agree that the development of more reliable shipping is exciting indeed, though Perdan lost her best seaports in the volcanic eruption, and I will be taking full advantage of that in short order. Which leads to one correction..." His voice gave no hint of anything he might be feeling, save good humour at good company. "I am not quite free to marry at the moment, and have a rather delicate matter to attend to with my family on Dwilight before that comes to pass. I am not, alas, the head of the family, and my cousin Aidan and I are not always of one mind. Once the tournament and wedding here are concluded, I will be making a venture to Dwilight along with various friends and compatriots to attend to that particular issue." He nodded toward Ambrose. "But that is quite enough of me! I did not have the chance to see the last tournament, and I look forward to what I expect to be a contest for the ages this time! Between the grand dinner, and the prospect of such matches I must confess to being quite excited. My lady Dustiria has tried to teach me somewhat of the finer points of the joust, but she has forgotten more than I am likely to learn about it."

Dustiria hugs Jafaria in return. "I am just happy to be here and witness the wedding, and make new friends" she says then let's Kenneth explain them not being married and listens to the others talk. one hand reaches to pet the fluffy orange white cat on her shoulder causing Burr too purr loudly.

"Ah, I see. Please forgive my oversight, Your Graces." Monteys replied to Kenneth and Dustiria while scolding his aide with his eyes.
Ambrose then introduced a charming Lady that approached. "Thank you for the introduction, Lord Ambrose. I know Margravine Jafaria only by reputation as the last time I spotted her crest was during a hunting battue in Hillmar. Unfortunately we were never properly introduced. I am sad to hear that you have a bad memory from me from the last war, Your Lordship, but war is war, ugly - yes, but sometimes required. Luckily it is now over and hopefully peace shall from hereonafter reign throughout the northlands, friends." Of course, Monterys adored war so his statement was far from sincere. Still, he was experienced enough to know that building relations and gathering friends in peace time was of paramount importance. It ensured that next time the drums of war sound off, you have more than your own banner to count upon. "Lord Ambrose, I believe it would be entirely fitting that should you win the jousting contest that you celebrate it in any way you consider appropriate. A bouquet for a Lady of your choice sounds a very romantic thing to do, a trend that has caught up among the writers of our age, I am told. As long as we are on the subject of culture and beauty, have you seen the Citizen? A grand work by the famed half-elven master artist Aerreth of Glinmar, built some 900 years ago. Such pulchritude is rarely seen throughout the worlds."

Ambrose was visibly flustered as Duke Kenneth calmly corrected his marital status. Caligan Ambassador was definitely informed that Duke Kenneth and his companion were a couple for a very long time and even had children together. Was it a mistake? Was Duke Kenneth already previously married to a different woman? Or is lady Dustiria his long-standing partner which he for some legal or religious reasons can not marry? The more complicated their situation was, the graver faux pas Ambrose potentially committed. At this point it was difficult to gauge how bad the situation was.
He cleared his throat and offered an apologetic look to Kenneth and Dustiria. "Apologies. I did not mean to intrude onto your private lives. In either case, I hope your journey to Dwilight brings you happiness in the end." After that Ambrose stayed silent for a while, letting the others do the talking. Only briefly he wrinkled his nose as Lord Monterys mentioned the Citizen. Sure, Sirion was a republic after all. What did he expect? Ambrose could never dwell in a realm like this.
