Valinorism/Beyond the Veil

> Valinorism

Micah feels his stomach lurch up to his throat and watched the world around him quickly disappear, as of he simply stepped off the edge of the World, until nothing was left except darkness.

When next he opened his eyes, he was no longer in the darkness. He was in a room that was lit by many lanterns and candles. Sitting up, he looked around and realized he was in a library, albeit one he did not recognize. Standing up, he looked at some of the books closest to him. The spine read "A History of Elves, Volume 75 of 8,294." Where was he?!

Micah started to walk towards the end of the aisle, and after a few minutes of walking, he finally reached it. He looked left and right, and nearly fainted. *There are books as far as the eye could see.* Never before had Micah seen so many books, and he spent a lot of time in many different libraries. He had always been the studious one in his family. He started to walk down the long aisle of aisles, seeing a lot of words he just didn't recognize. Surely, these books were not human?

"Hello mortal, I have been expecting you," said a deep voice from behind Micah. He turned immediately, taking in the being before him. This being was wearing a plaim dark green robe that hid most of himself, except one arm that was holding a wooden staff. At the top of the staff was what appeared to be a glass orb that flickered slowly between different colors. It turned from yellow to white shortly after Micah noticed it. The being had an indeterminate age, for he looked neither young or old, but it was obvious that he was not young, from the all knowing look in his eyes to the very way he stood before Micah.

Micah was so awed by this being that he was unable to move much less respond. "Ahh, yes, i was wondering about whether a mortal would survive the trip Beyond the Veil. I thought there may be some affects from that...." said the being. "Follow me," he said softly to Micah.

Turning, the being led Micah down the aisle; Micah notices that the cross-aisles were going by faster than they should. They were walking normally but were covering far more ground than they should! Suddenly he felt sick to his stomach. They then arrived at a table with chairs, and Micah sat down and the sickness started to subside. Next to a warm fire, he started to feel the cloud preventing his speech start to lift from his head. "Who are...." he starts.

The being, sat across from Micah at the table softly chuckles, and said "That's much better, my boy. I knew from the moment I saw you that you were special. But to answer your question, my name is Tydalin. I have done the unthinkable and brought you through The Veil. You are my guest here."

In shock, Micah was again speechless. He looked Tydalin in the eyes, and suddenly he could see that this being was not just old, but *ancient*. Memories started to flood back into Micah, Valinor -- the land of the gods. But....how?

"I have noticed that there are no more elves in the land of men, that you call Sirion. That's why you are here, Micah. I have need of you, and for that, you must know who I am. There is tricky afoot, and I needed to see your true heart to judge you character. You have passed and thus you survived the trip here, never before accomplished by a mortal human," said Tydalin.

He continued, "You are special. I have many tasks for you, but first we shall keep it easy. I am restoring all your memories, so that you can remember that which you've forgotten. Go forth and preach to the people of Sirion, and remember *who you are* and where you came from. Take this book and study it. Many of the answers you have will be answered in its pages. I will call upon you again should I have need. Go forth and preach, Pethron Micah. Teach people about Tydalin. Ensure they do not forget again; awaken the old knowledge and spread it far and wide!"

Micah just shook his head and picked up the book. Suddenly, Valinor started to fade off into the distance with Micah standing in the darkness. This time he was prepared for the lurching and the darkness enveloped him.

The next time he awoke, he was in a room with a nice lady sitting next to him, tending the fire. "Oh good, you're awake m'lord. I was very concerned!"

"Where am I?" Micah questioned.

"We are just outside Slimbar, m'lord. My husband found you this dawn as he went to go to his logging camp and brought you back here. I am so glad you are safe!"

Micah sat up, and thanked this peasant for the kindness shown him. He started to make his way into Slimbar, searching out the library, clutching a book hard under his robes so no one could see it and try to rob him.
