Futhark Family


The Futhark Family is dedicated to the path.

It has three family member with in Battle Master.


They are:

      Atamara

Freya - Abington

Hagalaz - Ash Sea Islands

      South-East

Tyr - Ikalak


All three characters each have their life goals and each their own personality. If you are familier with Norse runes then you may have some understanding of them already. Our goal is to eventually create a religion that follows the path of the runes of Norse Mythology or at least our understanding of them.

NOTE: a VITKI is a reader of the runes, A Norse Warrior, A Poet, A Leader of those that would follow the same path.


I will be posting material here as well as on each of the individual characters wiki pages to help other understand these characters. Except for Tyr they will not seek out battle for battles sake, though they can and will be fierce and loyal warriors to their appropriate Realms. Those on the island of Atamara will prefer to be assigned to support duties. However if ordered to battle they will go and lead their units as ordered.

Freya’s Aett

The sun guides seafarers Who ferry across the fishes’ bath, Until the seahorse brings them to land.


Tyr’s Aett

Tiw is a sign that spells Confidence to the noble; unfailing, It holds true through the night clouds.


The Birch though fruitless Sends out countless shoots; Leafy branches, high crowned Reach to the sky.


The horse brings joy; High on its hooves, By heroes praised, it is A solace to the restless.


We are each others mirth Yet one day must take leave, For the gods will allot Our frail bodies to the Earth.


Water to land folk seems never-ending When they set sail on a heavy ship; The huge waves overwhelm them, And the seahorse won’t heed the bridle.


Ing, first seen by the East Danes, Later rode his wagon away Eastward over the waves; Thus was the great god named.


Day is the gods’ messenger; The light of the gods grants ecstasy, Good hope, and a boon to all.

The Words of Odin the High One from the Elder or Poetic Edda Wisdom for Wanderers and Counsel to Guests

1. At every door-way, ere one enters, one should spy round, one should pry round for uncertain is the witting that there be no foeman sitting, within, before one on the floor

2. Hail, ye Givers! a guest is come; say! where shall he sit within? Much pressed is he who fain on the hearth would seek for warmth and weal.

3. He hath need of fire, who now is come, numbed with cold to the knee; food and clothing the wanderer craves who has fared o'er the rimy fell.

4. He craves for water, who comes for refreshment, drying and friendly bidding, marks of good will, fair fame if 'tis won, and welcome once and again.

5. He hath need of his wits who wanders wide, aught simple will serve at home; but a gazing-stock is the fool who sits mid the wise, and nothing knows.

6. Let no man glory in the greatness of his mind, but rather keep watch o'er his wits. Cautious and silent let him enter a dwelling; to the heedful comes seldom harm, for none can find a more faithful friend than the wealth of mother wit.

7. Let the wary stranger who seeks refreshment keep silent with sharpened hearing; with his ears let him listen, and look with his eyes; thus each wise man spies out the way.

145. Those songs I know, which nor sons of men nor queen in a king's court knows; the first is Help which will bring thee help in all woes and in sorrow and strife.

146. A second I know, which the son of men must sing, who would heal the sick.

147. A third I know: if sore need should come of a spell to stay my foes; when I sing that song, which shall blunt their swords, nor their weapons nor staves can wound.

148. A fourth I know: if men make fast in chains the joints of my limbs, when I sing that song which shall set me free, spring the fetters from hands and feet.

149. A fifth I know: when I see, by foes shot, speeding a shaft through the host, flies it never so strongly I still can stay it, if I get but a glimpse of its flight.

150. A sixth I know: when some thane would harm me in runes on a moist tree's root, on his head alone shall light the ills of the curse that he called upon mine.

151. A seventh I know: if I see a hall high o'er the bench-mates blazing, flame it ne'er so fiercely I still can save it, -- I know how to sing that song.

152. An eighth I know: which all can sing for their weal if they learn it well; where hate shall wax 'mid the warrior sons, I can calm it soon with that song.

153. A ninth I know: when need befalls me to save my vessel afloat, I hush the wind on the stormy wave, and soothe all the sea to rest.

154. A tenth I know: when at night the witches ride and sport in the air, such spells I weave that they wander home out of skins and wits bewildered.

155. An eleventh I know: if haply I lead my old comrades out to war, I sing 'beneath the shields, and they fare forth mightily safe into battle, safe out of battle, and safe return from the strife.

156. A twelfth I know: if I see in a tree a corpse from a halter hanging, such spells I write, and paint in runes, that the being descends and speaks.

157. A thirteenth I know: if the new-born son of a warrior I sprinkle with water, that youth will not fail when he fares to war, never slain shall he bow before sword.

158. A fourteenth I know: if I needs must number the Powers to the people of men, I know all the nature of gods and of elves which none can know untaught.

159. A fifteenth I know, which Folk-stirrer sang, the dwarf, at the gates of Dawn; he sang strength to the gods, and skill to the elves, and wisdom to Odin who utters.

160. A sixteenth I know: when all sweetness and love I would win from some artful wench, her heart I turn, and the whole mind change of that fair-armed lady I love.

161. A seventeenth I know: so that even the shy maiden is slow to shun my love.

162. These songs, Stray-Singer, which man's son knows not, long shalt thou lack in life, though thy weal if thou minds them, thy boon if thou obeys them thy good if haply thou gains them.

163. An eighteenth I know: which I ne'er shall tell to maiden or wife of man save alone to my sister, or haply to her who folds me fast in her arms; most safe are secrets known to but one- the songs are sung to an end.

164. Now the sayings of the High One are uttered in the hall for the well of men, for the woe of Jötuns, Hail, thou who hast spoken! Hail, thou that knows! Hail, ye that have hearkened! Use, thou who hast learned!

I know those spells which no Lord’s wife knows, nor any mans’ son.

One is called Help, and it will help you against sorrows and ordeals and every grief there is.

I know the Second, which those sons of men need who wish to live as healers.

I know the Third; if my need grows dire for binding my deadly enemies, I dull the blades of my foes- neither weapon nor deception will bite for them.


I know this, the Fourth: if warriors tie up my arms, I call this, and I can go free; the shackles break from my feet, and the handcuffs from my hands.

I know this, the Fifth; if I see an arrow shot in combat, shot deadly straight, none flies so hard that I cannot stop it if I catch sight of it.

I know this, the Sixth; if a Lord curses me by the roots of a fresh young tree, the man who calls down curses on me misfortunes will destroy him, rather than me.

I know this, the Seventh; if I see a high hall on fire around my comrades, none burns so ferociously that I cannot rescue them; I know the spell to chant.

I know this, the Eighth; which is useful for everyone to learn, whose hatred grows for a war king’s sons, I can soon alter that.

I know this, the Ninth; if I need to keep my ship afloat, I can calm the wind, smooth the waves, and lull the sea to sleep.

I know this, the Tenth; if I see the hedge-riders magickally flying high, I can make it so that they go astray of their own skins, and of their own souls.

I know this, the Eleventh; if I must lead old friends to battle, I call under their shields, and they go empowered, safe to war, safe from war, safe wherever they are.

I know this, the Twelfth; if I see a corpse swinging from a noose high in a tree, then I carve and paint the Runes so that the man comes down and speaks with me.

I know this, the Thirteenth; if I should sprinkle water on a young Lord, he will not fall, no matter if he goes to war-the hero will not go down beneath the swords.

I know this, the Fourteenth; if I should preach of the gods at a moot, I will know how to distinguish between all gods and elves; few of the unwise know this.

I know this, the Fifteenth; which the dwarf Thjothrerir called before Delling’s doors. He chanted power to the gods and strength to the elves, and foresight to Hropta-Tyr.

I know this, the Sixteenth; if I want to have the wise woman’s spirited games, I steal the heart of a white-armed wench and I turn all her thoughts.

I know this, the Seventeenth; so that the young woman will not want to avoid me. Loddfafnir, you will be long in learning these lays, though they will do you good if you get them, be usable if you can grasp them, handy if you have them.

I know this, the Eighteenth; which never will I teach maid or man’s wife (it is better to understand it alone) except that woman who folds me in her arms or perhaps my sister.



Now are the Ha’vama’l sung in Havi’s hall, essential to the sons of men, useless to the son’s of giants. Hail he sang, Hail he understands. May he use them well who has grasped them. Hail those who have listened.
