Letter from Evangeline

Message sent to everyone in message group "Perdan Senate" (17 recipients)

My Lord Tamarran,

I would tell the senators to attack Brive with Partora. 3450cs Vs 6550cs.

There is no threat Partora will be hit from Bescanon. It's payday... the troops are cashed up and ready to fight.

Dear Evangeline,

We must wait to see what it will be the enemy real deployment at the start of next turn.

Many hypothesis are possible about the real intention of our enemy. We must stick with our priorities too, which include the need to refit/recruit over attacking next turn.

If the enemy is really moving back and not just trying to lure us in a trap (they surely prefer battle us outside Perdan's walls), we will punish their rearguard in Brive. However, I will push for such attack only if the enemy CS in Bescanon, that may reiforce Brive, has actually came down to figures we can handle.

Yes Lord Ganimede, I understand hypothesis' are not always useful.

But if they do move from Brive, but remain in Bescanon, I believe it is to lure us out of Perdan. That is why my suggestion would be to attack only from Partora. It is two clicks from Bescanon so there isn't as much danger to Partora at the moment.

Just a suggestion anyway, and it will be interesting to see the scout reports next turn. :)

May I count on your scouting of Perdan at the beginning of next turn? I'm moving out to Troyes so to have a better ideas what the enemy has inside 2 regions range from Bescanon.

Not too bad (lol),

6000cs of a possible 9800cs misdirecting in Perdan 3200cs of a possible 6700cs misdirecting in Partora

Is this the numbers you would expect to follow orders in a real attack, or would they be slightly higher (people getting bored with misdirecting and all)?

No I feared we may have less. However, we must see what the enemy forces in Bescanon will amount to.

I just hope not to be captured.

My brother has been captured just few seconds after he has entered Troyes lands..

Captured! (just in) You have been spotted and captured by enemy patrols.

Oh no!! He feared as much.

Perdan was attacked by monsters. Four troop leaders didn't revert to defensive settings and have probably lost most of their units. :(

I will scout Perdan, Bescanon and Brive now.

No it is an error my lady. The enemy can see Partora and can send reinforcements from Bescanon. We don't have to run un-required risks. We would do the enemy game by attacking for the sake of it.

But my lord... every attack is going to be risky. We can not stay behind our walls forever. We should take the opportunity to take out the Sirions that got left behind.

It's a trap my lady. Those troops in Brive are the bait. I agree attacking for destroying enemy forces is a good reasons, but only if you are 100% sure the enemy can't bring more troops than you.

Tamerran (Knight of Partora)

Letter from Evangeline (personal message) If it's a trap why haven't they reinforced when we misdirect?

Alright my lord, I understand your judgement is much better than mine. I just fear us sitting behind the walls giving them time to let their force grow stronger. They are sending their men back in waves... not all at once. I don't know if there will ever be a time such that you speak of.

If it's a trap why haven't they reinforced when we misdirect? They must have spies between us.

Alright my lord, I understand your judgement is much better than mine. My lady, I don't believe to be the smartest here, I just see facts and based my thinking on them. I believe that you may be a good General and you only need to make some practice in the role.

I just fear us sitting behind the walls giving them time to let their force grow stronger. They are sending their men back in waves... not all at once. That is true for Fontan, but the Sirions, have to go back to their far Capital and this affect their capacity to maintain here many troops.

I don't know if there will ever be a time such that you speak of. Let's hope then.

That's why attacking from just Partora could be so effective. The attack could be sent to just the troop leaders in Partora with troops (similar to the attack from Perdan).

I believe that you may be a good General...

lol... I don't think so. In this situation I would probably pull rank and attack - not really the traits of a good general. :)

Perdan is lucky to have you on its side. My opinion on the situation stays the same, even though it is definitely too late to do anything now - however I do respect your knowledge and expertise and the decisions you and the council decide to make.

It may work if someone in the council can organize a late turn attack with the most trusted late loggers, but I believe that till they don't refit/recruit, their numbers are not enough to ensure the victory, even if the enemy doesn't send reinforcements. If that is a trap, as I'm conviced, they will have organized their 'late loggers' as well, so to send their forces. The senate can easily test it by ordering the misdirection selectively as if it was a late turn attack, but without running useless risks.

My friend, I think you are over estimating my skills. As I told you, I'm just considering facts that are in front to everybody and maybe apply a bit of chess like strategy to them.

Sometimes, the glory goes to those who dare to take big risks, but usually they don't last too long to enjoy their benefits. I just prefer solid strategies.

I too am just considering the facts, but my logic is different to yours (perhaps because I lack experience).

In my opinion, time is on their side - not ours. I think this war can only be won with risks, and I think this risk is moderate not big.

I am very honoured that you take the time to have this discussion with me. I know my opinion will not hold much weight for a long time. But at this moment we will have to agree to disagree on this point. :)

I am really glad that you and General ][osferatu are so patient with me though. I'm constantly waiting for the warning to come - but it hasn't yet, so at the risk of becoming annoying I'll just keep on voicing myself. :)

You see, you were right, about the enemy intentions and I was wrong! The bad news is only for me, who have adviced for a too safe strategy. The good ones are that the enemy must going through some logistic, if not other sort of crisis and that you must not be ashame to push forward your military ideas.

Well done!

Thankyou Lord Tamerran,

I don't think it's about who was right or who was wrong. It's a game of chance as much as it is thinking ahead about the enemies moves. This is a good thing for Perdan.

I have watched the enemies movements a lot, and they don't misdirect often. When they do misdirect it really will fool us. :) We, on the other hand, misdirect all the time so when we really do move it fools them. lol

Thanks again for your support,

Evangeline (Imperial Knight)
