The story of freewill stretches back into the blacklist corner of time. It began by the actions of one creature who’s name was as long as a life age of the sun and who’s message was as eternal as life itself. He was a charismatic speaker who could always persuade you to see an issue his way. While others looked up to him as a leader, he was displeased with the very word. To him all life should be allowed to run free.

His beginning, his true beginning, does not start with his birth but the day that he led a group of his brothers and sisters in to the untamed Universe that his parents had set up for them. It was originally intended for the children to travel into the Universe as a family and learn from each others strengths. But on the nights preceding the journey the camp of children fractured.

One of the children, whose name would be known as Mortazo or the blackened fiend in the word of the 12, traveled between the different groups of children and began to organize them for the long march. He set up an army placing those he saw more fit to rule over those who were of weaker strengths. This very idea went against everything that Blacklight, or the liberator as he was known in the word of the 12, stood for.

When Mortazo came to Blacklight and told him the he was to serve as his chief lieutenant and that together they could control all of their brothers and sisters. Blacklight left his brother without giving him an answer and went out among his brothers and told them that Mortazo planned to subjugate them and make himself their king. He told them of the “hierarchy” that Mortazo set up and that he planned to rule over all of them with an iron fist. Many abandoned Mortazo’s army and joined with Blacklight, wishing to live free.

It is said that on the day of the great journey that when Blacklight was about to leave with his fellow brothers and sisters that Mortazo lead his army down from their camp and tried to capture Blacklight. Mortazo tried to use force to gather back what he could not control. But the power of an oppressed army was no match for a union of free willed men and women who did not want to live under the rule of another.

When Mortazo’s army was driven back Blacklight lead his brothers and sisters into the vast expanse of the Universe. Once free from the treat of Mortazo, Blacklight lead his brothers and sisters to a new place that they could call home. It was a vast world of verdant green fields as far as the eye can see. The sun shown eternally and there was never a day of sadness and sorrow. This is the promised land of freedom that all creatures have a right to live in. The world grows with the inhabitants that dwell there. It was Paradise.

For thousands of eras the followers of Blacklight lived in harmony with each other and spread out amongst the stars to preach Blacklight’s message. They referred to him as their leader but he would have none of it, he simply saw himself as an equal with his brothers and sisters. But the time of peace and harmony were drawing to a close. As the message of Blacklight Began to spread it was inevitable that it would come in contact with another message, the message of Mortazo.

While spreading throughout the Universe, Blacklight stumbled upon the world of Mortazo. It was a barren desolate place were the cries of the suffering could be heard from the stars. Slaves were whipped and beaten as they built giant monuments to their imperious leader. Here Mortazo ruled over a vast empire firmly under his control, where law was his word and his word alone. Anyone who dared to oppose him was subject to the thousand torments that Mortazo’s lieutenant Torture had invented. As Blacklight looked upon this world he pitted the souls of the tormented and those subjugated by Mortazo.

And so it was that Blacklight held a meeting of all the brothers and sisters that had followed him and those that they had encountered and he told them of the plight of those who were ruled by Mortazo. It was decided that Mortazo posed a threat to their freedom and in order for those to be freed he would have to be removed from power. And it was decided that Blacklight should lead them in battle against the forces of Mortazo.

Blacklight amassed his forces above the world of Mortazo and called for his enemy to come forth. But faced with an enemy that was superior to his own, Mortazo withdrew his forces to his black citadel. And the army of freedom swept down upon the desolate landscape and cleaned the evil tyranny from it. Freed slaves and followers of Mortazo joined the ranks of the army, ready to overthrow the blackened fiend. Black citadel was the only obstacle that stood in their way, but what an obstacle it was.

And in the moment of their victory Blacklight and Mortazo were taken from black citadel by their parents. They did not understand Mortazo like Blacklight did, they just saw him as a misguided child who needed some love. Blacklight protested claiming that Mortazo endangered free will and as long as he roamed free he would work to destroy it. But Time and Space would have none of it, so Blacklight came up with a way that he could preserve free will and keep Mortazo under control.

Blacklight asked his parents if he and Mortazo could be joined so that they could “learn” from each other. Time and Space thought this was a noble idea and joined the two brothers into one being. Blacklight and Mortazo ceased to exist and the Madgod was born.
