A good fight and good job done all.

The day that Nothoi and Vordul Sanguinis came together to eradicate the undead plaguing Zuhle.

I thank you for your support, I know the people of Creasur can rest easy now this scum has been destroyed.

Roleplay from Xlair Silverblade, Emperor of Vordul Sanguinis
Darkness and decay clung to the Forest of Zhule like a wet blanket, permeating through the woods into the valleys beyond.

Xlair's nostrils flared as he took in the scent of his enemy, the minions of the Dark Mistress, the "Bloodless". His alabaster skin stood out in the moonlight, framed with long raven black hair, and set with dark coal eyes that burned with hatred.

His 7'2" frame was covered in jagged and vicious armor, which in turn was covered by a large tattered black robe open at the front that attempted to veil the horror beneath. In each hand he held the 6' long Nodachi inspired Silverblades of his household, thin and razor sharp.

As the first arrows flew overhead and into the woods, he began to move forward. He saw the banners of Lady Tempest, and that of the Forsworn Ambrose Peregrine. He felt, more than saw, the presence of Craglan the Cold on the field, knowing the wolves would be eager to tear into the rotting corpses.

The Sanguine troops nearest him were well out of reach, all had heard that when Xlair fought, he did not see friend or foe, just death, and any that got too close would find it all too soon. He rolled his shoulders as his strides quickened to a jog, his robes and hair trailing him like wisps of shadow.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw the banners of Nothoi approaching from the West, whereas his armies approached from the North. As such, he turned left, or east, to stay well away from accidentally killing any of their allied troops, and burst into a run.

A branch slapped him in the cheek as he crushed through the woods, he lowered his right blade straight forward and skewered the first zombie at the chest, and jerked the blade to the side, tearing the torso in half and hurling the corpse to the ground.

His left blade swept high, taking off the heads of three skeletons that shambled forward ahead of the main host of undead. Slowing his run he slapped his blades together to clear the muck and rot from their razor edges while sneering at the wall of bloodless.

He heard the Nothoi troops colliding with the flank of the bloodless army, while the Sanguine troops entered the forest behind him. He stalked forward while the fury grew inside of him.

The Emperor swept a large silver X through the air in front of him, crumbling the zombies which were quickly replaced with more. He spun around in a practiced sidelong slash of both blades parallel to each other, cutting through the midsection of next two, their torsos collapsing next to their legs that took two steps before realizing their demise and fell to the ground.

A winter wolf of Craglan's troop crashed into the horde to his left, leaving him some room to move, which he took advantage of with a whirlwind of blades, with his arms outstretched. His long arms along with the long Silver Blades cut swathes of the bloodless down before the resistance of bone against blade slowed him down.

He jammed his spiked elbow backward and caved in the skull of a zombie that tried to attack from behind while a black steel clad foot shot out and snapped the femur of an incoming Skeleton in half.

The adrenaline took control, and no longer did he feel the consistent pain that his armor inflicted upon him, the exterior spikes and blades that persisted through his own bones and flesh on the interior.

The battle raged for some time, and the corpses littered the ground, both the long and recently deceased. Xlair stepped over them all with apathy as the sounds of battle receded, filled with the pleasant sounds of suffering.

He crouched down and wiped the gore from his blades on the tabbard of a fallen soldier that reached up to him, pleading for mercy. He did not oblige them, instead sheathing the blades to form an X across his back.

He reached into his robes and pulled out a Crystal Skull from inside his robes, and then grabbed the tattered remains of his robes, torn from battle and from contact with his jagged armor, and ripped it off to cast it in the dirt.

As he stalked out of the woods, he spotted the banners of Lady Tempest and approached, the living soldiers parting before him. Spotting the Baroness, he approached, wasting no time on niceties or formalities.

"Tempest, see that the Nothoi are ..." he struggled with the thought of thanking someone.. ".. taken care of." he commanded in a hiss.

With that, he turned and walked back north with long determined strides. He raised the Crystal Skull up and spoke into it.

"Wizard, attend me."

His sworn soldiers formed ranks around him, and marched tirelessly back northward.

Darkness and decay clung to the Forest of Zhule like a wet blanket, permeating through the woods into the valleys beyond.

Baroness Tempest commanded her rangers to position on the high ground so they may control the battlefield. Around Sol are the banners of her Emperor Xlair Silverblade and Marshal of the Frozen Blood Craglan the Cold. To the rear the Forsworn Ambrose waiting for his orders to charge.

Off in the distance banners from the Nothoian Army appear through the trees. The bloodless horde is completely surrounded, ready to be obliterated. Marshal Craglan orders the archers to unleash a surge of arrow fire before the rest of the army engages. An excellent tatic considering the mindless opponent.

As the battle progressed Lady Tempest witnessed the feats of her Emperor and that of the cavalry. The valiant charge and close combat skirmish looked quite exciting from her perch upon the nearby hill. Commanding a ranged squad against such brain dead foes was anything but glamorous but it had to be done.

The battle was over in almost a blink of an eye with every undead laid to waste. Surveying her surrounding Sol can see a few casualties and orders her rangers to collect any bodies that might have blood ripe for harvesting. Baroness Tempest then spots the Emperor approaching her as rangers part in his path in fear or servitude.

He hisses at the Lady “Tempest, see that the Nothoi are... taken care of.”

Without hesitation Sol replies a simple “As you command “ and crosses her arms in an X across her chest as a salute.

As Xlair departs Sol calls upon her scribe so that she may write the Nothoi Strategos.

As Baroness Tempest concludes her business on the battlefield her squire returns with a reply from the Strategos.

"Excellent" she mutters as she reads the letter. Sol sets off to towards the banners of a black martlet volant on the colours argent and vert.

Approaching the Strategos's position she is first blocked by his guards.

"Step aside forsworn your Duke is expecting me" she barks at the men with their halberds crossed.

Lady Tempest all but pushes the men aside however shifts her demeanor to be much more respectful in the face of Strategos Francis Elynbrigge.

With a slight bow Sol introduces herself "I am Baroness Tempest, it is excellent to meet you Strategos Elynbrigge, Duke of Hetland and Governor of Creasur."

Lady Tempest studies the man before continuing admiring his beard "My own time is short as I am sure your own is as well so ill get right to the point. You have my thanks for the Nothoian assistance in dispatching the bloodless and you have my respect you are quite the formidable commander. I would have you know our Warlord Svari Strome also sends her regards. If you find the time write her about the battle."

"As I am Lady of Ippetimbal I would ask you if we could open a line of communication. My region shares a border with one of your realms cities so it would be mutually beneficial." she inquires to Duke Francis.

"Lastly if you have anything to ask of me, please, otherwise I shall take my leave" Sol concludes.

"You and your people too have my respect and you do me a great honour by fighting alongside us". Francis bowed and nodded his head.

"As for a line of communication. Your borders fall far from my Duchy and durasdiction but I shall indeed welcome your correspondence".

"Until the next time Baroness. Unfortunately I must return to the City of Creasur with most haste. I shall write to your Warlord in the coming days and inform her of our battle".

The aftermath of the battle in Zuhle resembled many others that Rufus had seen in the past.

Though the size of the enemy force meant that the battlefield area was larger than some and the sheer number of bodies on the ground now was a bit on the large size. The foggy morning had given the attackers some sort of cover before engaging with the hordes, which had helped. The archer opening had done it's job and thinned the enemy ranks somewhat from the start, always a blessing. Of course in the end it had come to the charge, body on body, and the strong arms of the infantry and cavalry in the melee.

Watching from a rise on the southwest edge of the battlefield, Rufus assessed the damage to the allied forces and concluded the casualties had been rather light, all things considered. His Weghies were finishing their own assessment of their unit, laughing and joking amongst themselves as was their way of dealing with the aftermath of the battle. He had 9 wounded of his own which might be serious. This was a rather high number in general- the Weghies were known for their survivability. He kept a large stable of physicians with his unit for just these occasions however, and he was fairly sure he wouldn't lose any more men today. One man had died in the melee, however. That pained him, though he kept it to himself. Jared had been very skilled on a horse but he had always tried just a little too hard to 'prove himself' to the rest of the men. Rufus had made several attempts to teach the boy a little caution but something had kept pushing him to show off just a little more than was safe in battle and that had finally caught up with him today. Rufus had seen it himself and had the boy's fanciness been successful it no doubt would have been the talk of the unit for months to come. Instead it had cost him dearly.

Turning his attention elsewhere with an effort, he gazed across the field toward the day's allies, the newcomers from the north. They were an unusual lot, and no mistake. They fought like fiends on the field, sure enough. But they looked more than a little like them, as well. As a knight of Daishi he couldn't help but consider them carefully, and wonder at their motives. They certainly had no love for the undead on the field this day, though.

For today, that was enough.
