The Master of Potion - Part I

Some days before the Invasion...

Yeux Serpentis: "Hear me talk of sin and you know this is it..."

Piwani, a small black cauldron was boiling and bubbling. The crackling fire reflected in the eyes of a serpent. The smell of magical, sacred and dangerous herbs filled the night under the full moon. Snakes, ravens, crows and bats. Creatures of night. Spiders. Lizards. Salamanders. The potion was ready. With an empty shell of a large snail he picked up the crimson and hot liquid which was then poured into a beautiful small bottle of a royal blue like the wild seas that lashed the coasts of Cori in the summer.

Yeux Serpentis left his tent. The Berserks were resting at a farm after the Lord of Cori ensured that the wild men would protect the region against monsters and invaders and will not hunt more than they could eat. The fire was near death at the camp and the men snored like lazy pigs. The fire was near death at the camp and the men snored. The goal was to get closer to the barn that had been cleaned and prepared to receive the small detachment of woad women who served Yeux under the Serpentis' banner. After the battles, they protected the commoners against possible violations while the Lord was absent. The farmer's wife had beautiful daughters who were easy prey for the wolves lying outside.

Under his royal blue cape, Yeux walked silently up to the resting place forbidden to his men. He slipped into the passage and under the torche's light he saw two women. Warriors. They wore wolf skins and had their own skin painted with tribal designs with a vivid blue. Woad women. Wild. Swords at the belt and spears to protect the passage.

Guardian Woman: "You cannot pass, Lord Yeux. Besides this passage rests our Captain. Her sleep should not be disturbed by a man."

Yeux Serpentis: "I know. She's my Captain too, like Captain Helmut. But much more beautiful. Remember that you all fight under my banner. And now I need to talk with Lady Vânia."

There was a moment of silence. Those women fought like true warriors. They served Cori, where they were born. Like the Berserks. Elite groups, wild and dedicated. But they should know that they were now under the Serpentis' command. So, the women didn't insist and retreated the spears. Yeux crossed the passage. He was no longer young as he used to be. He lived much more than his brother and sister. He did not die young and now he was older. But he still was an old hero and had his charms.

The room was lit by torches and was warm and pleasant. There was a certain smell in the air. Scent of a woman. As a gift, the tub had been prepared for a pleasant bath. The water slide over the body of the warrior woman. Beautiful, strong and powerful. Red hair and a white soft skin under the tribal tattoos. The body shaped by nature like the natural sculptures designed by the winds in the aridity of Cori. And certainly had the warmth of those lands.

Yeux walked to an improvised table and there was a pitcher with blueberry juice, some fruits and a piece of cheese. He opened the small bottle with his special potion and poured it into the pitcher. A purple smoke rose with a pleasant smell and finally disappeared. Then he served the bronze chalice, which attracted the attention of the beautiful women. Vânia had almond-colored eyes. Strong and expressive.

Vânia: "Yeux Serpentis. You shouldn't be here. We're not on the battlefield now. Here I don't need to follow your sword."

Yeux Serpentis: "Don't worry, Lady Vânia. My sword is resting now. And I need some rest too, so I came in peace. Just to talk a little about our last battles. I have to congratulate you and your women."

The readhead covered the breasts when the hero approached offering the chalice. Even with suspicious she pushed a hand of the bust and accepted the offer. She felt the thirst and the juice's aroma was tempting as were the eyes of the old hero.

Yeux Serpentis: "Enjoy. It has the taste and smell of our lands."

Vânia: "My lands! You were not born in Cori. You're not a true son of Avalon."

Yeux Serpentis: "You're right. I was born in Falasan in a land like this. And these worlds are like mirrors. Both reflected on the waters of our Great Lake. There I served a region with the same name. And when I started my journey in search of death I went through the mists of Avalon. Here I am now. With you, Cori and my Berserks. Minister of Finances of Avalon. The first man to hold the Three Crowns of Averoth."

Vânia: "You're a good man, Yeux. A good commander and warrior. But you do not belong to this place. This is a land of monsters and demons. You are here just looking the Death. We know your past and your bard sang songs about your darkest dreams."
