The Long Journey - Part II
Conquering Valkyrja

Awake!
Shake dreams from your hair
Left the chaos and disorder
Back there over his shoulder...

Helhhir, Hvergelmir and Yggdramir

During the inclement winter the troops moved forward in the wild territories. A part of the group was moving with a day of advantage and they would arrive first in Valkyrja to take the city. Yeux had received the last reports and the scouts had sighted repugnant creatures eating a dead deer. The hero had led a lot of "monsters slaughters", but on that day he had given order for the troops proceeded silent and they avoided the monsters traveling for an alternative road. The travel was long days and the soldiers stopped few hours to rest, to light the bonfires and eat. They drank the White Ale until the last drop to warm up the bodies against the sharp winds of the forests of Helhhir and of the big valleys of Hvergelmir. The monster stayed in the forests and Yeux could travel with more freedom in the green valleys. Looking to the sea and the great waters that separated the world that he knew. He was seeing everything for the first time. During the whole travel he didn't see people. He didn't see farms. Something completely incredible for him. Of the world that he came, he didn't know about unexplored regions. He knew that there were many kingdoms and many interests. The threats of the war. Farms. People to serve Lords. For the first time Yeux saw what he could build. When he saw the bridge to Yggdramir, he imagined that could build a new bridge, larger, where the troops could march victorious to the Capital. Crossing the bridge he already sighted some people, small groups of fishermen in primitive constructions. Some women and children asked for some coins in the road to Valkyrja. A sign that the group was already in Valkyrja to begin the colonization.

Valkyrja

The coastal region seemed very favorable to an imposing fortress, but now it was just a shade of what it had been in the past. Some people still worked and they fished to survive in the old deteriorated constructions. During the take over of the region Yeux talked with the oldest people to hear the history of Valkyrja and he discovered that the region had already been inhabited by nobles of Everguard. The soldiers were usually busy "converting" the population and establishing strategic constructions for the bureaucratic work. The situation was not good in Valkyrja. The population was very reduced and everyday they threw the corpses in the sea. They usually died from hunger or diseases. Yeux had chosen an old stable. The soldiers cleaned the place and they rested there during the night. During the day the hero walked in Valkyrja, organizing the thoughts or answering the letters that he received. In some days they conquered the region raising a new flag. Yeux ordered that the soldiers put the shields and flags in an old fence in the road to Valkyrja so that everyone could see that Valkyrja had new Lords.

And it was not a surprise when Yeux saw the small cortège of Lady Allison arriving in Valkyrja. She probably traveled as the wind to usurp the power and to try eliminate the colonization plans in the beginning. Captain Rudolf alerted Yeux of the arrival of the Lady of Morek, proclaimed the new ruler of Valkyrja... or of Morek Colony.

Captain Rudolf: "Bad winds of the south, M'lord..."

Yeux Serpentis: "My old brother used to say that we should not fear the serpents..."

The days in Valkyrja were agitated. The group that had taken the city would not support Lady Allison's presence. The first attitude of the Lady of Morek was to impose great punishments. A gold that she would never see. But Yeux had to respect that woman's courage. She had just some few soldiers that could be subdued easily in a rebellion. She was alone, same with the power in the hands. In the occasion that power was far away from being complete. The soldiers screamed protests and they caused some confusions in the streets of Valkyrja, but no order was given to attack Lady Allison. And after some days she left. Yeux believed that there would be a lot of resentment in being expelled without getting to impede the inevitable destiny. And a wounded woman could be more dangerous than a serpent.
