Tainted Love

Roleplay from Yeux Serpentis

Some nights ago...

Yeux had spent long days meditating about his life, especially his life in Melhed. He had been taken by a wave of blood until unknown shores. In Seven Rivers he cut his hand and let his blood drip into the water, his gift to Iku-Turso. The Great Maharshi passed his wet hand over his face, covering it with the enigmatic mask of the Faceless God. In the majestic temple of Agyr his servants were gathering his papyri, books and sacred instruments. They marched silently to the ships while the flames reached the heavens, burning what should be forgotten. Secrets, mysteries and priestly practices that belong to eternity would fall into oblivion once again. Ghostly slaves closed old dungeons, laboratories and altars; hiding old sins behind solid walls. Yeux had built magnificent temples, impressive and scary, but that was not for the humankind. They, poor ignorant, would never know the truth. Encircling his head with a bloody finger, he felt the weight of the ethereal crown and thought about the many mysteries in which he had been initiated since his arrival to the curded continent. In his soul he carried the star of a Grand Druid of Avalon, in his memoirs the time lived among the Monsters, learning about their secrets and finally his ascension to get rid of the desecration of blood and to inspire his people. Obviously, the fools would repudiate the sacrifice and see the bloodshed with the distrust of unbelievers. In the end, the sacred would be corrupted by the foolish and used to justify atrocities as always. The tragic end of any religion in human hands.

The magic was still there in Beluaterra. It could be felt in the air and glimpsed under the black wings of a crow. For Yeux, that magic was essentially in blood, sacrifice and flowing through the willpower to break the reality, folding it at his pleasure, making it serve his own purposes. It was easy to deceive the common people with a lot of tricks, make them believe in what was needed through sermons and small illusory miracles. But once having conquered their faith, the true power flowed and could be used by those of the inner circles. That was the spell invoked by Yeux, blessed by the Old Gods.

In his bare chest, the armor of a true hero, he marked a bloody inscription. In his mouth he poured the bitter potion prepared by him especially for that night. He coughed and felt his throat burning, the blood running through his veins like living fire. Every part of his old body stiffened and twitched. The Maharshi felt the strength and vigor of youth returning to his bones and muscles. The wrinkled skin stretching, white and beautiful once again. The old power more vivid in his serpent eyes. The ancient spell had worked and brought back the warrior from his own past. Yeux felt like a stallion.

Alone, the rejuvenated warrior walked under the moonlight through the fields of Tepmona. Approaching the royal tent he saw the astonished glances and a couple of fearful servants and soldiers who witnessed an unspeakable miracle. The young King dismissed them with a wave of his hand and entered her tend to surprise his Queen.

Yeux: “Good night, my dear. I’m here. Now, take my hand. Blood will be the rose of our mysterious union…”

Roleplay from Maya Tandaros

On the high fields of Tepmona, some time back...

Alpine winds whipped the sides of the royal wartent, the flame in the center only mildly disturbed. Maya rested upon a divan in a silk gown, reading an old book about the Emperor Tsu Sun, a great warrior king from Melhed's past in the Age of Blood. The whipping wind masked the entry of King Yeux. “Good night, my dear," he said, miraculously young again and full of life, "I’m here. Now, take my hand. Blood will be the rose of our mysterious union…”

Maya dropped her book and got to her feet, but was utterly speechless. Her husband she had sadly only seen intermittently - a traditional honeymoon was foregone when the new Queen sailed with Dragonstrike and sacked Sandefur. When the Queen was in the Golden Palace, the King was preaching in the countryside - when the Queen was on campaign with the army, the King was tending to his people. It wasn't a bother to her at first, but as the weeks dragged on and the stresses of power weighed on her more and more heavily, she began to miss Yeux's sage presence more and more deeply.

His countenance was now suddenly that of a past warrior king. She recalled the days of the royal rebellion and storming the Golden Palace to support him. She recalled at first meeting him face-to-face in the Golden Palace, yearning in his presence, the trials of ages of combat having proven him tough and wise. Legends and mysteries swirled in Maya's mind and she stood there, for once completely disarmed.

The youthful Yeux approached Maya and took her hand, kissed her passionately, and whispered mysterious unknown syllables of power on the way to the bedchamber with his enchanted wife.

(For the rest of this part, well, use your imagination if you must!)
