Axis Mundi

The Duke stood before the great Temple of Avamar. He stared at the latest work in his greatness. The statue was four meters in front of an obelisk that pointed to the sky. Like an impressive mirror carved in marble and alabaster. Erik was represented there not only as an elf or political leader. That was now the representation of a God incarnated among men and elves to guide them with the legitimacy of a deity. Gregor had opened a way through the faceless crowd. He was followed by his relatives. The warriors had become leaders and the leaders had become great builders. Erik had consolidated his power with the Goddesses praised in each of the regions ruled by him. Now, at the height of his power was the moment to announce his real name to the world and unite his lineage to the lineage of the Gods. Conferring his heirs not only the ancient blood of his Elven House or heredity from the Dragons who ruled Sirion in the legendary past, but also the divinity requested to rule over this world and the Terrestrial and Celestial Circles.

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

He read those words and smiled. Sirion was a macrocosm, but everywhere he could see his work. There at the Sirion’s heart in Slimbar, ancestral home of his family. In the woods of Dolmbar where he kissed Ebella for the first time in her Elune’s face. At the walls of Trinbar where he defended Sirion shedding enemy blood to sow victories. And in so many places where he invested, where he traveled holding courts, visiting the taverns or in military parades with the Stormwalkers. In the last years every aspect and decision about Sirion’s life had passed directly or indirectly through his hands. However, Avamar was his microcosm. The empire where no authority was greater than his own. There he sat not as a king or a sultan. Erik had defeated kings and sultans. There he would lead now as a God.

The Silver Dragon approached the obelisk and admired the work in one of its faces, congratulating artists, scribes and historians around him during that final inspection. The huge mural had descending branches showing how the Serpentis in Sirion descended directly from ... and the ... Circles. And like a tree, the roots had an ascending pattern showing his House had solid foundations. In the middle was the august image of Erik bringing ascension to his House, spreading more branches for future generations. A masterpiece.

Erik Eyolf: “Prepare my ship. Your God will travel down the river to Al Amarah. It's time to see my youngest daughter. The announcement could wait until the right moment divinized by the Priestesses.”

The servants were still unable to notice. Nothing changed for Erik, but he had a different attitude, worthy of a God now, not just a mere mortal. If before he sought the image of the High Priestesses to justify his connection with the divine, now he had taken a step further. Soon Sirion would know which God was of their pantheons was embodied the image of Erik Eyolf Serpentis the Silver Dragon of Sirion.

With a procession of worshipers behind him, he went down the stairs to the Sirion River where the ship slipped over the waters. He would come down to Al Amarah and finally met his daughter and let she know that divine blood was flowing in her veins.
