Description

The Screaming Hammer of Battle is a formidable warhammer, forged from Mithral and silver by Lord Hamilton Limb in 1023. The head, made of polished Mithral, features sharp spikes on one side and intricate silver filigree with glowing jade inlays that enhance the weapon’s magic. Its impact can crush armor with ease, and when it strikes a fatal blow, the hammer unleashes a terrifying scream of obscenities from a trapped, cursed spirit.

The shaft is a sturdy blend of reinforced wood wrapped in black leather, with Mithral bands running along its length for strength and flexibility. The pommel is crowned with a large, blood-red ruby, said to house the soul of a demon. This ruby glows fiercely upon delivering a killing blow, further amplifying the hammer's fearsome reputation.

Despite its size, the weapon is surprisingly light due to its Mithral core, making it swift and deadly in combat.

Tale of Creation

Forged in the fiery depths of the legendary Mithral Hall by the master smith Lord Hamilton Limb of the noble House Hall, the Screaming Hammer of Battle was brought to life in the year 1023. Crafted from a blend of rare Mithral and gleaming silver, it was imbued with enchantments and alchemical secrets long since forgotten by mortal hands. Hamilton, renowned for his ability to craft weapons that danced like leaves in a storm while striking with the fury of the gods themselves, poured his heart into this creation as a symbol of unwavering brotherhood.

Upon its completion, Lord Hamilton bestowed this masterpiece to his lifelong comrade, Ulric Hawk. More than a gift, it was a bond forged in war and tempered in the fires of battle. With this warhammer, Ulric could shatter full-plated armor with a single, effortless strike, the weapon imbued with magical lightness, enabling even the mightiest of warriors to wield it as though it were an extension of their arm. When it delivered a killing blow, the weapon's spirit—rumored to be a cursed specter bound to the hammer—would awaken and unleash a cacophony of bloodthirsty obscenities, echoing across the battlefield and sowing fear in the hearts of Ulric’s enemies.

Intricately designed, the head of the hammer gleamed with darkly polished Mithral, traced with filigrees of silver in the patterns of ancient wards. Its surface was decorated with inlaid jade, radiating an eerie green light whenever a blow was struck. A large, blood-red ruby was set into the pommel, said to hold the very soul of a slain demon that empowers the hammer with an unholy thirst for destruction. Dark tales tell that each soul felled by the hammer feeds the gem, making the weapon stronger, more dangerous, and more unpredictable with each kill.

For generations, the Screaming Hammer of battle was thought lost to time, vanishing in the tumult of war and conquest. But its legend did not end there. Years later, it was rediscovered by the adventurer Perdric within the ruins of a fallen city of Perdan.
