Our Sacred Geography

Since mystics believe that the gods are numerous and various, it is also within the reach of their beliefs to worship nature as a deity. However, what is unique to their faith from other faiths is that the relationship with the nature god is reciprocal. Many mystics consider the entire continent its own vast god, the nature god, though they believe god is only alive in the civilized areas. A god’s strength is judged by how many followers it has; thereby outside of the civilized areas of the continent, the nature god has no jurisdiction. Just as Souls not participating with the Divine Realm are oblivious, so to regions outside of the frontier of the Divine Realm are voids.

In order for the nature god to advance in the Hierarchy of the Gods, as well as being worshiped in temples and shrines by religious, it is required that mystics develop and maintain regions. A mystic who worships the nature god must devote time to conducting work upon the regions of his or her domain. Whether they develop the region through civil or police work, in the way they set their estate, by establishing guilds or temples, constructing fortifications, or simply by contributing to the region’s character, the nature god is advanced in these ways. Through these forms of development, a mystic is enlivening the continent with the nature god. In return, the nature god will provide the mystic with sustainable food sources, territorial advantages, and all the comforts and bounties provided by the land.

Mystics are given shelter, food, and wealth by the regions they command, and in return, they are obligated to maintain and develop the regions. The nature god is non-existent without lifeforms interacting and inhabiting its many territories. Life is given to nature through the presence of mimics, and the entirety of the mystics’ life is then provided for by nature. This is the mystical worship of the nature god.
