"Gorefinder" Arctos Metsamees

Arctos
Riel

Arctos, ever since his childhood has been a positive, cheerful and rather active person.
Witch is also rather uncommon in the Metsamees family.
He angers easily, but also calms down rather fast.
For incidents long ago in his childhood, Arctos especially hates when some one attempts to step on him.
Also is more intelligent than appears, by his behavior one might think hes a easy going, perhaps even foolish but short tempered average guy who enjoys festivities.
While in truth he does enjoy festivities but always is alert for enemys and assassins, and usually thinks ahead before acts.
He has high tolerance to alcohol but disliked getting drunk, for he is somewhat paranoid about him doing things he will regret while he dosnt have his wits about him, although on occasion he forgets that paranoia for a while.
He physically might be stronger than a average man but since he is also a slacker he isnt too good with the sword or any other weapon techniques.
He liked to play around more than learn to use weapons,
although he is a lazy slacker he is relentless once he sets his goal.
In turn he is rather sturdy and vigorous, and heals faster and better than a man should be able to.
Since he is a member of Metsamees family and also follows its beliefs and creeds, he also is learned of nature - thus knows a feau things about herbalism, smithing and other traits.
One custom in Metsamees family is that a warrior makes its own weapon, with his own hands, Arctos however inherited a ancient sword from his father.
The sword is estimated to be centurys old however it looks brand new, it doesnt dull or rust.

One thing is for sure, the sword has been passed down from generation to generation from before the documented history of Metsamees began.
(witch dosnt mean documented history began later than ironwork, any documented history was lost upon the destruction of Metsamees tribes)
The runes in the sword speak thus:
From hardship comes power
from power comes freedom
-- and on the other side
Life is not a birth given right
life is a precious gift to be protected constantly

That sword has served him well, for all the years he has fought with it, in a battlefield he is a respectable force on his own.
Arctos enjoys battles and sees them as excellent entertainment and training, he also feels a affinity towards battles and is like drawn to them.
He has a noble aura about him, that inspires awe amongst his troops and followers, although he also lacks in etiquette and proper manners, failing to express himself accordingly to his status, and the worst is he dosnt even care about such things.
He left home to Colonies and entered service as a knight of Assassins when he was 18, over time he has become recognized as a hero warrior in the realm.
Twice although for a brief time he held the title of Count of North Bakker, but the peasants revolted under his rule both times, apparently he only has talent in leading and fighting on the battle field, or perhaps the peasants were angry cause he is a pagan, either case result is same.
However, he was once again granted lordship over Hulaferd this time, although the enemy was able to reclaim it on several occasions.
He also found a wife, Riel Sapwood, while in Assassins realm. At the beginning she worked as a scout for Arctos. They also had a son named Urus and a daughter named Simone.

Death

As he descended in to the abysmal pit.
In hopes of gaining greater strength, to imbue his flesh with magic and climb to a higher level.
Despite his lineage, one of his uncles was able to use magic that enhances oneself.
Even if it dosnt work on himself, whats the worst that can happen?
Loosing a limb? A small matter like that will not hinder a man.

Though he only knew the basics, he knew enough to use atleast this magic.
As he started to draw power from the abyss in to his flesh, to empower it, something went wrong.
His body, explosively bloated.
His body abnormally bulked, flesh fibers multiplied in a incredible pace and his skin was absorbed by the muscle fibers.
Bones sprouting abnormal growths.
His teeth had felled out, and new ones formed, randomly from the jawbone in various uncoordinated directions.
And his lips, had disappeared, like melted in to the jaws.
His right hand fingers, still grasping the sword merged together into the wrist, fusing the sword into his body.

At that point he wished he would had felt pain.
Instead he felt like his body was full of warm, wriggling maggots, right down to the core of his bones.
If he could had been able to use his hands, he would probably had clawed at himself without mercy.
He could feel the magical surges coursing through his body, and head,
he could feel how his brain was gradually engulfed in the uncontrollable and chaotic growth of flesh.
And the last thought he was able to conceive was regret and an apology to his wife and family for dieing so irresponsibly.

Arctos end.jpg
For better or worse there Arctos lost himself, his personality, his memory, thoughts... one could say he died there.
And he didnt have to witness the horrors his corpse would begin to commit.
For his body did not die.
It lived on as a mutated lump of flesh, only thing linking him to previous Arctos was the sword in his hand.
And a feau fragments of his past.
Based on that, he went to satisfy his primal urge to feed.

Upon remembering his home, only one word in a warped tone, escaped his throat: "manflesh".
He ran through the lands, reaching his home in North Bakker.
Even though he met resistance in the form of soldiers, none but archers arrows were able to get to him.
And even arrows were not enough, though they penetrated his exterior, but a mere half a inch, or some times a entire one.
Only fueling his feral anger, and virtually causing no damage to the body.

Upon reaching his home, he tore down its wall, entered the house and slaughtered everyone in sight.
Servants, guards, soldiers, scouts, scribes, officials and in the end even his own kin.
Eating them on the spot.

Upon returning Ikki (Arctos'es half-brother), Ulmus (cousin Alnuses son who had came to visit Urus) and Urus (Arctos'es own son) found they home in ruins
and a flesh beast sitting in the middle of a pool of blood, gnawing on a human leg.
The three were stunned at the sight, even though they all had seen many indescribable horrors.
This was happening in theyr home.
And they all seemd to recognized the monster as the remains of Arctos, though to any other person this
creature would not resemble a man.
Urus upon realizing the monsters identity whispered "~~father~~".

And the monster turned, identified them as enemys.
A fragment of his memory seemed to remember Urus, and the monster gazed at him uncomprehendably.
And since none were moving, the Monster Arctos couldnt either see them or realize they were alive,
in anycase the monstrous being truned back to eating the dead.
And then Urus saw the last remains of his little sister Simone, only the head was left,
or atleast only the head was recognizable as Simone amongst the sea of blood and man bits.

Ikki shouted Urus'es name, for he knew the lad would spring to kill him the next moment.
They formed a plan as the monster was still more interested in gnawing the meat lieing around him in heaps.
Rather than pursuing new prey.

Urus ran to the woods, and Ikki confronted the monster, throwing a dead guards spear in to his body.
The monster roared, not in pain for the wound was minor, but in anger as his "meal" was interrupted.
And began to give chase to Ikki and Ulmus.
They drawd monster Arctos to the woods, hoping the trees would hinder his movement, but to no avail.
Monster Arctos tore through the trees as if they were nothing but tall grass or reeds.
Ikki then used his throwing knives and managed to take out one of his eyes.

Ikki then closed in from right, and Ulmus from the left.
It seemed that Monster Arctos has forgotten martial arts, and his reflexes had been dulled quite abit.
His movements were fast, but wide and very predictable.
Ikki managed to avoid his attacks in a great display of nimbleness and agility, and managed to reach his body, tryng to impale him.
However his flesh was hard, and the sword didnt penetrate deep enough to reach the heart.

Ulmus on the same time, intended to sever the tendons on the monsters leg.
Crippling the monster.

At that moment Monster Arctos used his left hand, which compared to the over bulked right one seemed more like a rudimentary limb.
Though that was far from truth, the hand was similar to that of a humans but its muscles were big, abnormally shaped and fingers long.
Long enough to reach around Ulmus and grab him in to monsters hand.
With a quick twist, before anyone could react, the boys neck was snapped, and as if the monster wasnt sattisfied with the carnage, he crushed the head in his hand, splattering the skulls contents and blood on the grass.

Ikki stunned, although he was a skilled in the usage of many weapons, he was a aclhemist and researcher, not a real warrior.
And seeing his cousins son die infront of his eye made his blood run backwards.
It was not only because he was kin, but also Alnus had been his good friend throughout the years.
And so he got along well with his eldest son, infact they were quite close friends,
as Ulmus unlike his father took quite great interest in Ikki's work.

While only for a moment, it was enough for Monster Arctos to reached with incredible
speed and wrap its fingers around Ikki this time.
Smearing Ulmus'es blood on Ikkis clothes.

The hand was strong enough to crush Ikki, and was in the middle of doing just that, but Urus made in time.
He had jumped down from his ambush place and ran up the back of Monster Arctos.
Arctos however shook Urus off, and sent Ikki flyng in to a tree.

Urus faces Arctos and charged intending to lop of his hand, Arctos however swung his sword, breaking the one in Uruses hand, and sending Urus flyng backwards.
Urus couldnt hold his weapon properly, the force was too great, and the double edged sword had digged in to Urus'es flesh.
And Arctoses sword nearly penetrated his chest basket, however Urus was fortunate and by the time Arctoses sword reached Uruses chest, Urus was already flyng backwards, preventing monster Arctos from cutting the boy in half.

Now Urus was on his rear, with a broken sword, and aching hands still trembling from the shock he took.
And the Monstrous Arctos marching towards him, already salivating in the expectation of his new fresh and warm meat, forgetting Ikki completely.

The hit he took when he was thrown against a tree probably had made Ikki to regain his composture, he then hurried to the rear or Arctos, before monster Arctos was able to react, Ikki had climbed up his back and stabbed his sword in to the creatures head, right through the monsters remaining eye. The head seemed undersized when comparing it to the rest of the body.

The last breath escaped the monster, asif his soul had vacated this carcase through its jaws.
And the body collapsed, right before Urus'es feet.

Afterward Ikki quickly tended to Uruses wounds.
And began to inspect the corpse of the monster.
Even though it was his half-brother, Ikki performed an autopsy on the body, in attempts to gain new information knowledge to use in the future.
It was a good thing Urus was unconscious, he probably would had protested, thought Ikki to himself.

After a feau hours Ikki was done and soon after Urus also woke up.

Ikki spoke: "Thanks, he would had crushed me."
Urus responded as if he had not heard what Ikki sayd: "Everyone is dead."
Ikki: "Yeah....except us."
Urus: "That beast, he was .... " he took a pause and continued in a whisper "my father?"
Ikki after a breaf pause: "Yeah. That was him, his remains to be precise."
Urus, on the verge of tears: "How come he became like that."
Ikki answered with ice cold voice, and with a expression as if he was talking about some landscape far away: "Our.... Metsamees lineage,
is a lineage which has trained its mind and body for many many generations.
Probably longer than our history is recorded.

We can use magic but not every kinds like most people could if they knew how.

Our lineage, or should i say breeding, is that of inner power.
Bringing out potential from within, strengthening the body and mind by its own natural inner forces.
Our power comes from with in,
thats why anyone in our lineage has a strong body, good reflexes and senses, honed instincts and what other merits from birth, and asfar as i can remember there has not been a single mentally defected member in our lineage.
Well from birth i mean, i suppose some probably did went stupid later in life, due to .... meny things.
"
Like Arctos, he thought to himself,
and continued: "How should i word this..... Our power is soley the inner one.
Thus any magics that enhance ourselves relying on external forces will only tare the body to pieces.
Or warp it in unexpected ways.
It is not the matter of training or not training the body stronger.
No matter how strong we are, we can not harness external powers within ourselves.
The stronger we are, the more explosive result the usage of such magic will produce.

He sayd he was going to the Outer Tilog.
Thats where the Outer Tilogian abysmal pits are.
Sources of power.
He probably drawed power from there and the result was.... well you can see what it was.
.....It probably destroyed his mind aswell......

Arctos that idiot, he should had known better.

There was one who did manage to harness the external powers aswell.
He.... my uncle, August, however was a exception, he probably had some affinity to it or something.
Well he went missing long long ago, i wasnt even born then. My father told me of him, aparently he went and ran off with a succubus. Supposedly even had a kid with her.
"

After a long silence Ikki stood and sayd: "Well, im going to get the sword from him, he wont need it anymore, it yours though, he probably would had given it to you.
We'll burn the remains after that.
"

Urus:"Keep it, i dont what a memory of something this grim."
Ikki: "Hmmh, i suppose i can understand that. Then i'll give it to Alnus, im no real warrior."

It took some time for Ikki to chop his way through Arctoses hand,
the flesh was abnormaly though and the bones were even thougher. But eventually he had goten the sword free.
Ikki and Urus dragged the monstrous Arctoses corpse in to a pire and set it aflame.
And so they gathered firewood to the mansion and set the entire mansion into fire, burning all the remains,
it would had taken too long to try and identify each piece of meat and even if you could,
you probably coudnt set anyones body back together anyway before they would start to rot,
they were in to too many pieces, and too many pieces were probably missing aswell.
Eventhough the fire was intence, it took afully long to turn everything in to ashes.

Eventually fire erased the traces of the carnage that had taken place in that manor.
And only ash and the smell of smoke was all thats left.
The sunset had painted the sky in red and orange colors.
Wind picked up and sent the ashes flyng.

After the sunset,
Ikki: "I hope it rains tomorrow. Sometimes i like rain."
Urus silently: "yeah ...."
Ikki: "In a way this is releasing, if you have family you have to constantly considder them ....
I wish i was young, then i could perhaps believe that lie.
And run in to the world, do any stupidity i wish without a care about the consecuinces.
"
Urus: "...."
Ikki: "Lets go, grief if fine, but your alive, and that means you have a responcibility to the dead.
Live a long and good life, live in a way so when you die those who you have killed
and your close ones should not feel shame.
"
Unlike Arctos thought Ikki to himself.
That way of death is no proper way to go,
damn his stupidity, his wife, daughter, even Ulmus.
Urus wont probably be able to sleep properly for some time either.
..... huh i cant even hate him for it properly.

Urus breaking his train of thought: "I dont believe in heaven, nor hell."
Ikki: "Neither do i, even if there is,
i doubt any of them could look upon your actions in this world.
But you, yourself will know.
"
