This occurred somewhere around April 2005 election in the Age of Blood. Melhed was in the midst of surviving an onslaught upon Agyr during the Second Invasion. Twenty-one nobles were part of Melhed when this began. While the realm bureaucrats insisted on titling letters from the council as Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Grand Justiciar, and Minister of Finances, melite nobles preferred Emperor, Grand General, Grand Justicar, and Lord High Bankercrat, respectively. The titles have been recorded as melites wished them to be. Family names were not recorded in this day in history, but family names have been added where known.

In my short time as judge I haven't had much to do; you people are very law abiding. But what I have done is draft and post the Constitution of Melhed that is available for your viewing pleasure in the judge's bulletin. As should be plane to see from the laws I've tried to record, I believe in fair and honest treatment for all members of Melhed and plan on continuing my efforts to simplify and correct the laws recorded.
That said Tan is an excellent judge as well who has tried his best to make Melhed one of the best places to live during his own time as judge. He is a worthy opposition.

After consulting a friend much more knowledgable about norse gods than I, the following differences have been determined.
The Ovates are not norse, though the concept behind the Ovates isn't new, the Norse had healers like that, but as far as he knows they didn't attach any religious significance to them.
The word Presten isn't norse, the norse called their priests "godi".
And "Rig" is actually just Heimdall.
There are also spelling mistakes as compared to the norse version. |

For a long time, I've mentioned that internal politics and the
occasional power-strife within a realm make the game more interesting.
So I've worked on it, and created a new class: Courtier
A courtier is a kind of merge between bureaucrat and infiltrator. He
travels without a unit and at higher skill levels invisible. He can
engage in intrigue and gossip.
Gossip allows him to learn details about regions and troop leaders,
many of which are unavailable to other classes. Through gossip, he can
also "intercept" fragments of private messages anyone in the same
region sends or receives.
Intrigue gives him manipulative powers. They are not as disruptive as
those of the infiltrator, but more difficult to spot. For example, he
can spread rumours about troop leaders, impacting their honour and/or
prestige values temporarily (they will recover over a span of one
month). He can talk region stewards into handing him gold from the tax
collection (very high skill levels required to do that in enemy
regions). His most important intrigue power is the ability to
manipulate elections.
To give the courtiers some action, they can attend tournaments and they
can fight the - requested before - duels. They can even force other
troop leaders into duels by insulting their honour publicly, giving the
victim the choice to fight the duel or lose tremendous amounts of
honour.
As a final step, there will be a realm-wide "intrigue level" large
determined by the number of courtiers in the realm regions, regardless
of which realm they actually belong to (courtiers can be used as a kind
of ambassadors and live in other realms).
At high intrigue levels, as in real life, only courtiers can survive
the deadly politics and all government members are forced to either
become courtiers themselves or step down from their positions.

In addition, I can now view the Army of Agyr. For all those who have become Knights of Tsu (or rather, Knights of Agyr), I can see ranks, locations, status, unit, combat strength and 'ready' for each player.
'Ready', expressed as a percentage, indicates how much combat a unit can take before it suffers serious consequences. This takes into account wounded, equipment damage, morale and cohesion.
Knights of Agyr, according to my scribe, you are all 100% ready for battle! We'll see if that changes next turn after we fight those undead! |

I may have scouts, but at the moment, they are completely worthless. I fear I am a fool, and choose to try my hand at being a trader for some time in Abington. Such a life did not agree with me, and when I heard tell of the battles, and need of Troop Leaders here, I choose to leave that life for this one, unfortunately, I neglected to alter my class before leaving, and now, I am still a trader, until such time as I am allowed to change.
It was my first emigration and I did not know I'd be stuck in this class for a while upon arrival.

| We need someone to scout the regions surrounding either Rengo, Gor Ault, or Hopidrii. When someone does that, we will be able to time our move into one of these regions so that we run into little resistance and lose few troops. Then we will be able to build a cavalry center and maintain a more agressive offensive against the undead. |

Anyway, as Marshall I can now set automatic unit settings for battles (for the knights of Agyr, no one else). Tom says they are still in testing and aren't expected to work, and I would hate to try an experiment that would screw up our unit settings and make us lose the walls or something.
I'll try it out when we can afford to take certain risks :) |

| Ah, what the hell, I'll try it anyway. For offensive battles we'll engage in 'Archer Open', meaning archers are deployed in front of the infantry for the first round, and for defensive battles, we'll be on 'Fortification' so most of our units will be deployed on the walls.
If we're going to have a major battle, I'll just issue settings manually.
Also note that these 'automatic settings' only apply to the knights of Agyr. Anyone who has not sworn loyalty to Tsu will not see these unit settings. |

| I don't think most of the monsters were in the north, or at least there's no way to know unless you got accurate information from people in the south. It seems likely they were fairly evenly spread and Enweil and Riombara survived so well simply because they're richer and much better organized realms. |

Aemon, we have had people scouting for quite some time now. Unfortunately it seems Tanko is the only one with any scouts left, and he has been scouting for a very long time.
Tax day is today, we'll stay in Agyr until then. After that we'll get some scouting done and then decide if it's safe to move out or not. |
