The Massey Family originates in an unknown land, proclaimed nobles by some forgotten ruler, they've wondered the world over for as far back as they're records go. Usually lead by the head of the clan, they were once something of Mercenary Nobles, dealing in death and crafts of war.

However, all that changed the night that came be to known as The Culling, when the younger Generations of the clan rose against their fathers in desperate bid for power. The result was a civil war that spanned a single night, so intent were the two sides on the death's of the other, that a small fire caught during the struggle, that went unattended until the entire fortress manor of the Massey family burnt to the ground, killing every single member of the family...save for the young...already fatherless Tryvold Massey, who had been out on a hunting expedition at the time.

It was only relatively recently that the remnants of the family came to Arcaea. Goffrey and Richter's father, Siegfried, lead his fledgling to the city of Remton hoping to find a permanent home for the the family at last. As the war raged around him Siegfried trained his children in the art of war, using techniques that some would describe as "barbaric." But the effectiveness of these training protocols could not be denied.

History

Goffrey was the first born of the two, the eldest son and thus the greatest focus of his father's "attention" so to speak. His mother left they're father when Goffrey was still at a very young age not being able to tolerate Siegfried's treatment of her or her children. Growing up with little contact with women, and no mother to speak of, affected Goffrey on an emotional level leaving him humorlessly unable to verbalize himself with regards to women he cared about strongly. After his mother left him Siegfried became an extremely bitter man silently blaming his children for the loss of his wife. As such he raised his children in the manner of all men of the Massey family. The only difference here was the level of extreme he took with the training. From the time Goffrey was old enough to hold a sword he was taught how to use it. From the time he was old enough to speak words and understand them, he was filled with tales of glory and carnage, virtually brainwashed with information regarding fighting tactics and swordplay.

At the age of 12, he was forced to fight his Father's hunting dogs for the right to have dinner each night. Some times he won some times he lost. At 15 he was upgraded to monster's, captured by his Father for this purpose, he still has a rather nasty scar across his lower back from the only time he ever lost. On his 16th birthday Siegfried payed an assassin to kill both his sons seeing it as a gradutation of sorts. Richter almost did not survive this final test, but Goffrey was able to end the Assassin at the last second, never actually learning where he came from or who sent him. While the psychological portions of Goffrey's training were only partially effective they allowed him to virtually shrug off most of the things his farther put him through, although the effects it had on his subconscious mind is yet to be reveled. Goffrey loves his father despite all he had done, wanting nothing more then to make him proud.

History

Richter was the second born of his famil, and it was but a few weeks after his birth that his mother left, as such Richter has problems becoming emotionally attached to anything other then his brother. As the second born Richter was spared some of the more crueler aspects of Siegfried's training, but was instead treated with a sort of tolerant disdain, where as Goffrey was treated with a sort of pride one has for a well crafted machine. As such Richter grew to loath his farther, his teachings, and war itself. But when the time came for him to leave the house, he found that no matter what craft he tried his hand at nothing came to fruition. Eventually he was forced to take up a position in the military. This reality has left Richter a grim and cynical man, with a dry sense of humor to match. Only his brother Goffrey, whom is the only person Richter actually cares about, has ever been able to get Richter to smile a true smile.

History

Siegfried was born the second son of Tryvold Massey, the only member of the family to escape the culling that came with the inner family civil war. He had two brothers, the elder one being Sigmund, and the younger one, being Siggurd. The three of them shared a relativity normal childhood, learning the path of the warrior as was their family's tradition. But that all changed one day, when it was reveled that Sigmund had fallen for a local peasant girl, who was carrying his expectant child. Inevitably Tryvold discovered the stock with which his grand child was to come from. That day, he rode into the village found the home of the girl, and ran her through with his sword...taking two lives with one stroke. It was a grim task that Tryvold committed only reluctantly...partially to preserve the family blood...and partially to keep the secret of that blood from escaping into the outside world.

At word of what his father had done to his secret lover, and his would be child, Sigmund flew into a wild rage, calling for his father's life as reparations for the family that had been taken from him. Sigfreid, and Siggurd rode with Sigmund to the keep of their father, each one a warrior by birth and skill of arms, yet all three falling short of the skills of their father. The four of them fought for a day and a night straight, from one end of the keep to the other, until the halls themselves ran red with their blood. Until at the dawn of the second day, when only Sigmund and Tryvold remained standing, the two fell upon each other with the weight of mountains behind their blows. Their swords were the firs things to give way, their bodies followed soon after, but so viscous was their struggle that their very spirits continued their battle, until they two were extinguished like flames.

In the aftermath of the battle, Siegfried and his younger brother Siggurd ventured around the globe, fighting monsters and horrors beyond most men's wildest nightmares. But eventually such a life style took its toll on the younger travelers, and with more then twice their weight in gold, the two parted ways for the final time, eager to settle down and start their own respective families. With Siegfried eventually buying a small estate on the coast of Saex, and Siggurd buying a small island estate off the coast of (to be added).

By now Siegfried was already married to the woman of his dreams, a young beautiful "maiden" named Lilith, whom he had rescued during one of his many adventures, and fallen madly in love with in the process. He had two sons by her, before her true intentions were reveled, and she abruptly up and left with barely a good by in between. Devastated beyond recovery, Siegfried fired all the staff of his house, and focused his entire life solely on the two things left to him.

His sons...

In Goffrey he saw hope for a brighter future for his cursed family, and in Richter he saw...nothing but waste...

His motives were a mystery now, even to him...he had no idea why he was doing such things to his own children, but he did them anyway...confident in the purpose...whatever it might turn out to be.
