Lisieux Family/Births and Deaths

((ooc: manipulating Hugues’s cause of death.. will respond to the ludovic letter next.. wrote this one during school.. well.. i'm still at school.. nevermind!))

Esme sighed. She took off her black gown and hat, the netting included. She placed them on the chair near her bed. Donning a white chemise, she climbed into her bed, and bid her maids bring her a glass of water, and then leave. She sighed again as she brought the covers over her growing belly, and her swelling breasts.

First Alexandre was captured and executed. Then Kayne left her for Sirion – wherever the Hell that was! Left her there, pregnant and alone. Then Hugues – Arnaud – tried to kill himself, and then died in his recovery. She seemed to be a curse for the men in her life.

Esme had just returned from Hugues’s funeral. She brought him fine, unique and rare black roses. She didn’t know him all that well, but she figured he would have liked them. Not only was there the devastating loss of this great man, but she had received news of the Battle in Upsael. Sixteen men wounded, fourteen killed. All thirty men in her unit had been knocked out of action. Including her captain. Slaughtered. The Chaotic Arrows were part of a small number of Akadian troops defending Upsael. Yet another unit wiped out for the Akadian League.

She closed her eyes, and wondered if Kayne was alright. He had arrived in Sirion, she was sure of it. So why had she not heard from him? Esme laid her hands on her stomach, and wondered if there would be a father figure for her child.

Esme fell asleep like that, wishing pregnancy would not make her so damned soft-hearted.
