Travelling with Filippo

Roleplay from Rolsel
Arrival at Dragons Roost

Taking his steps carefully up the mountain path, Rolsel looked around watching carefully for any movement. The path had been long forgotten, finding the path alone was hard enough. He turned to look behind him, Filippo was close behind him, carefully watching his steps and following them precisely. Rolsel pleased with this contained along the path, grabbing onto whatever he could to keep his balance. Before long they came to a large plateau where they could set up camp. He began pitching his tent, the ground making for hammering of the pegs harder then usual.

The wind was strong on the mountain, the tents were blowing wildly but still held strong. After they had been successfully put up, he turned to see Filippo setting up the fire. The wind made this extremely difficult, however he eventually successfully lit the fire after building a small barrier of stones to block the wind. Rolsel smiled and sat next to the fire, taking out of his bad some dried meet and bread, offering some it to Filippo.

"We have some time to rest, seems like we have been travelling for ever. Tell me about yourself, while we have travelled together for a few weeks now, I dont know much about you."

He smiled at Filippo, offering a waterskin of water to him.

"I dont know about you, but this is my first time in Dragon's Roost. I have heard tales of the Zuma since my childhood, however to find myself here I am filled with excitement." He let out a chuckle, taking another bite from his barely bread he washed it down with some water, wiping the drips from the side of him mouth.

Looking upon Filippo with childish glee, he waited for his response.

Interactions with Xuveziq

Roleplay from Rolsel
Arrival in Nightmarch

Rolsel sat patiently waiting in the Tavern, a drink in hand, his nerves on edge. Soon enough, a figure burst through the door who immediately noticed Rolsel. He hurried over, slamming his hands on the table in front of him.

"Is what you said true? This is big news if you spoke the truth. We came here for the sake of adventure and exploration, this is our chance."

"Filippo, calm down, sit and have a drink. We need to think about this." He called over to the barmaid who brought over a mug of rough ale, "We have to be careful here, it is unknown territory for the both of us."

The two of them sat down and began to ponder, thinking of the best way to approach this revelation. For a while there was silence, the creaking of the old wood. That was when Rolsel had a thought.

"What if we approach with gifts? Some kind of offering to see if we can seek an audience." He began ruffling through his bag, bringing out an assortment of objects ranging from trash to some stuff of worth before finally settling on something. He took out a small box and placed it on the table in front of them.

"These are some of the nicest pieces I have found, while it is nothing special maybe it will appease him to some extent." Opening the box, he revealed a small bundle of diamonds and wootz. "My luck in searching for something extra special has been uneventful however maybe these will mean something."

Filippo looked on at the object, picking up one of the diamonds and inspected it. Its finely cut and polished exterior glowed in the candle light.

"This might be able to help, however I cannot say for certain. But it is worth a try I say." Carefully placing the diamond back in the box and closing the lid, he passed it back. "It is late today and I would not want to cause any problems, I suggest we rest for today and make a move in the morning. To be honest, I do not know how it will go and I am a little worried. What if we upset him?"

Rolsel placed a hand on Filippo's shoulder, passing over a bottle of drink. "We wont know for now. Let us rest for tonight then go and make our presence known, we need to do this officially so that we do not cause any problems. Let us drink for now and enjoy the night."

Letter from Rolsel
Greetings and Good Tidings Overlord Xuveziq,

Firstly, we wish to apologise for writing way above our station however we would regret if we did not send this letter.

Myself and Filippo have travelled a fair distance seeking the lands that were once called Zuma. Initially started as curiosity it developed into fascination. As commoners, we are not so well versed in the politics of this world leaving much in the way of study and exploration for us to investigate.

If you would be so gracious and humble us, we wish to seek an audience with your eminence. we come bearing gifts of gems and crystals as an offering for such an occasion. we wish to learn of the Zuma and ask questions of which carry great importance for me. Should you allow us such an honour, we shall not forget such generosity.

With great respect and admiration,
Rolsel

Roleplay from Xuveziq
Xuveziq had fallen into a restless sleep after his Long Sleep had been rudely awakened by Goriad Gabanus. But Goriad had behaved with the humility of which a human should comport themselves, and lived.

Now he was disturbed by the sensation of a scroll lodging itself between his teeth. Clearing the obstruction, his keen olfactory senses detected humans. Foreign humans. Measly adventurers now, not stalwart noble warriors. These disturbances were becoming too frequent. Was it time for the Zuma to resurface from the caverns it had sheltered in through the worst of the Monsters?

Rising into the air from his cavern, he rose above Nightmarch, silhouetted against the moon, and then dove back down, landing just behind Rolsel and Filippo. In that brief time, Xuveziq had surveyed the monsters and undead in the vicinity, and smelled more foreign explorers. Indeed, it was time for the Zuma to assert themselves. Communicating across the distances to Kettle in Dragon Song, Xuveziq ordered the bravest of the tribal coalition warrior-families to repopulate Nightmarch. Then, he reformed the government and began rebuilding Nightmarch's defenses. He was dismayed at the lack of magic he sensed upon Dwilight, but rested content in his wealth.

A Meeting with Xuveziq

Rolsel froze. The presence of someone, or something, caused him to begin to shake. Looking towards Filippo he noticed a similar situation. With caution Rolsel began to turn around, fearing as to what was stood behind him. However the sight of who was stood over them caused Rolsel to shake further. His breath was strained and his hairs along his arms and neck began to stand up, shock held him for a moment. However, taking a deep breath, he fell to the floor.

Rolsel immediately began prostrating himself toward the figure that now stood before him. Making all efforts to show as little hostility as possible. Filippo followed him shortly, both of them now at the feet of the figure. Rolsel took a deep breath, feeling his heart racing, he began to speak.

Rolsel:"Oh great and powerful Xuveziq, we are gracious that you would come and meet with us, we are not worthy of your time. While we know that you have immeasurable wealth, we come bearing gifts of diamonds and wootz in hopes that you will listen to our request."

He reached into his pack, producing the same ornate chest. Keeping his head down, he lifted the chest with both hands upwards towards the figure.

Rolsel:"As someone of both myth and legend, your stories have been passed down through generation to generation. You, whom I have respected and admired greatly since a young boy, have inspired Filippo and myself to venture into unknown lands, seeking the realm that once called itself Zuma." Rolsel slowly stopped shaking and took another deep breath, giving a quick side glance over to Filippo, checking on his travelling companion, "We came here with one purpose, seeking guidance and purpose in this world that we exist in. We come with a selfish request, allow us to serve you in this world. Even at the lowest levels, it would be of the greatest honour to serve within your realm, serving such a magnificent ruler such as yourself."

Filippo quickly followed the example, taking from his bag pieces of wootz and other assortment of gems. Similarly offering his hands out, the gems reflecting in the morning sunlight as it crested over the mountain.

Filippo: "Oh exalted one, while we may be commoners of faraway kingdoms we have come searching for these mythical lands. To find a wondrous being such as yourself here, we are filled with admiration and respect at simply bearing witness to your greatness."

Rolsel waited, still holding out the chest in both hands. His breathing becoming more stable and his heart began to calm.

Rolsel: "While we do not possess items of magical quality, we come bearing scrolls of which we would further offer in hopes of appeasing your eminence. If you so wish for it, we would happily give you all that we own. However, if it is punishment you seek, I shall lay down my life in respect of your cause."

Rolsel waited, hoping for a good response. He could hear the breathing of Filippo next to him, slowing down as he began to process the situation. However, their lives now hung in the balance and at the judgement of Xuveziq.

Roleplay from Xuveziq
Xuveziq looked down upon these flecks of life prostrating themselves before him, offering gifts and service. Perhaps too in awe of his height to begin with, Filippo and Rolsel did not notice Xuveziq had not risen to his full height yet, which he does now.

Speaking with resounding softness, "I will accept your scrolls." It echoes through the city streets.

Cocking his head as if to examine Rolsel and then Filippo, a snort of hot steam escapes the daimon's nostrils in some nuanced emotion beyond human comprehensibility. You have the distinct impression that something is left unsaid, lingering unresolved.

Xuveziq continues, "Return before 28 days with as many scrolls and unique items as you can carry, and I will accept your service on condition. Now, begone!"

Roleplay from Filippo
Replying to the request, Fillipo reached into his bag and presented two scrolls onto the floor:

"Mighty Daimon, please accept my two scrolls of Daimon banishing as our acceptance of this request and a sign of honour. For we wish no harm to come of you. Therefore, use these scrolls for your own devices."

He then looked to Rosel who hurriedly open his pack and present some scrolls also:

"Oh great overlord, we shall do as you have requested. We shall prove our worth to you and return here in 28 days with more offerings!"

Both of the men slowly got up from the floor, instinctively bowed to the Daimon and while facing Xuveziq, they walked backwards out of sight, in respect to tradition.
