Honed Staff of Flame

Emily narrowed her eyes at the lair, the stench carrying from the cave's entrance all the way to where she was hidden behind the tree. A pair of beasts lingered near the head of the cave, and she knew as soon as one fell the others would find her. She lined up the first shot carefully..and let loose the arrow.

The battle lasted for near an hour, the beasts having a pack leader, a creature of impressive size and strength. she ran and dodged, climbed and used every puddle to her advantage, letting loose arrow after arrow until her quiver was empty. Finally, after filling the beast with shafts and finishing it with her blade, she headed back to the cave. She searched about their impressive stockpile..but the staff with the faintly glowing crystal at its head drew her eye most..
