Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer stood in the city square, waiting for his challenger to arrive. Aethelmaer spent this time clearing the area of peasants so that their duel may go unhindered. After the last of the peasants were moved away, Gin showed up, and they clasped hands to start their duel.

"May this be a good and honorable duel my friend." Aethelmaer exclaims

"Yes it shall be, but I shall come out the victor!"

"We shall see about that!"

The two combatants stood at the ready, each wondering what their tactics would be for the upcoming fight. Then at the drop of a pin, the two lunge at each other swinging their swords fiercly. At the first lockup, they seemed of equal strength, yet Aethelmaer just a tad stronger than Gin. After they broke their stances, Gin tried a downswing on Aethelmaer who dodged it and came back with an upward slice, which Gin had blocked, and with that Aethelmaer was pushed back, and Gin took his advantage to attack, and ends up slicing Aethelmaer's shirt. Another blow was then blocked as Gin tried to bring his sword back around for another blow. Aethelmaer slide his way into a crouching position then rolled through Gin's legs. Catching him off guard and just about to strike him down, a peasant, oblivious to the situation, hits Aethelmaer in the head, effectivly knocking him out! Gin then turned around and to his astonishment Aethelmaer was gone. Taking a step forward, he tripped over his limp body, and as he fell, injured himself on his own blade. With his wound, it was enough to declare the match a win for Aethelmaer.

"Wake up, Aethelmaer!" Gin spoke, as Aethelmaer started to open his eyes.

"What's going on? Who won the duel?"

"You did my friend, and a blunder of a win it was too!"

Gin told him what had happened, and then the two after recovering, went to the nearest local bar, to share a couple of ales on Gin's tab, to celebrate Aethelmaer's strange but legal win.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

Kurohyou was informed by a few peasants that Aethelmaer and Gin were to duel each other in the town center. Kurohyou seemed interested in watching as his two friends went at it.

As he stands near the entrance to the armourer, he sees that Gin and Aethelmaer shake hands and then get into their stances. Kurohyou begins to head towards the duel area.

"Good luck, Aethelmaer and Gin!"

Apparently they were too focused that they didn't have time to respond. Kurohyou then watches as the duel commences. Block by block the go at it. Then Aethelmaer gets his shirt cut open.

'That was a close one for Aethelmaer, hopefully that won't be the only blow that'll occur.' Kurohyou thinks.

Then, as Gin begins to break Aethelmaer's defenses, Aethelmaer rolls in between Gin's legs. Kurohyou saw that the duel was done just then. But after Aethelmaer finishes his manuever, Kurohyou notices that Aethelmaer was heading straight for a peasant.

"Aethelmaer, watch out!!!" But it was too late. Aethelmaer made a head on collision with the peasant and fainted. Kurohyou then went Gin seeing that he slipped and fell on his own sword.

"Gin, are you alright?"

"Yeah, that was unexpected though."

"That's good, now lets go and check on Aethelmaer."

They check on Aethelmaer, Gin asks if he was alright, and Aethelmaer says hes alright. They then went to the tavern for a drink of some ale. Gin says he has the tab, however, Kurohyou insists that he has it.

"No, Gin, you two enjoy the ale, I'll pay the bill. But seriously, Gin, how in gods name could you slip on your own sword?"

Roleplay from Gin

You make me seem incompetent and I call you friends. Damn my luck though, it was you I triped over. ~Downs the rest of his ale~ ~thinking to him self~ I would have won if it wasn't for that damn technicality, first blood.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

Kurohyou turns towards Gin and says, "You say I was the one you trip over. Aye, I think you are starting to lose it. I was near the armourer when the battle was commencing, there was no way I caused that to happen." Kurohyou drinks his ale. "Yes, but don't forget, we still have Round 2 coming up, so you better prepare yourself." Then Kurohyou turns to aethelmaer and says, "Would you like to spectate our duel when it occurs?"

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

"This shall be a great duel of wits, I shall watch, in hopes to see that the battle isn't as foolish as mine. Also, Gin, it isn't your fault for losing in that way. I myself have lost that way many times growing up, just like me not knowing that the peasant was there. I should duel him just to get my revenge, even though I know I would win, it would still bring that satisfying feeling to myself."

Aethelmaer downs yet another ale, stands up, remarks something that sounded something of jibberish, then falls to the floor. After a minute of laughs, Kurohyou and Gin help Aethelmaer back up again.

(drunkily slurring his words now) "I'd-d thhink it a better idea t-t-to have go at mud wresssttling-g, assss it-t-t would morre sssui-t-t my d-d-drunk-k-kenesssss"

"Now is the time for you to rest my friend," exclaims Kurohyou.

"Off to bed with you, and let me and Kurohyou duel later on."

Slowly they take Aethelmaer back home where he sleeps for all night and most of the day. Waking up just in time to find out Achilles has won the election.

"Messanger, send word to Achilles, Congratulations! Now let's finish off those goats once and for all. May Tara rise to power once again!"

The messanger runs off and Aethelmaer walks out into town, enjoying the beautiful weather on this fine day.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

After Kurohyou and Gin help Aethelmaer to his home, Kurohyou bids Gin farewell and goes to his home to sleep. Then, the next morning, Kurohyou's scribe rushes into the room, giving word that Achilles has won the election.

"Good, that is excellent news. Now, go and send word to Achilles that I congradulate him on his latest victory."

"Will do, Sir!"

Kurohyou then takes Kyoku out on there morning walk. Along the way, Kyoku rushes towards Aethelmaer, who has just come out of his home as well.

"The sky is pleasant this magnificant day, don't you think, Aethelmaer!"

"Oh, yes, it is a wonderful day, Kurohyou."

Kurohyou shakes hands with Aethelmaer and asks if he and Kyoku can join him on his morning walk..

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer joins Kurohyou and Kyoku on their morning walk. As they walk along they speak of stories and gossip. Their walk takes them out into the forest, the trees swaying back and forth, and the leaves russling in the wind, brought a certain calmness to Aethelmaer. Kyoku stopped in his tracks sniffing the air, looks off to the side into some bushes and starts to growl.

"What's the matter, Kyoku? Is something there?" asks Kurohyou

Aethelmaer draws his bow, and strings an arrow loosely, Kurohyou unsheathes his sword, both sensing something dark has come near to them. They both wait in silence for their silent stalkers to show themselves.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

As Kurohyou, Aethelmaer, and Kyoku stand there in the forest, they sense that someone is watching them. Kurohyou and Aethelmaer both arm themselves for what is ahead of them. As they stand there ground, Kyoku begins to run deeper into the forest.

"KYOKU, What are you doing!!!"

Aethelmaer and Kurohyou then to suspect that Kyoku was pursuing there stalker.

"Aethelmaer, I think that we should investigate what this possible threat is, and if it is proven hostile, we should suppress it..."

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer and Kurohyou were chasing Kyoku through the woods. It seems as though something caught Kyoku's senses in the bushes, and as it seemed to have an evil sense about it, Kyoku ran after it in a fury of growls and barks. While the two still had their weapons drawn, they tried to keep up to Kyoku, yet to no avail. They stopped only to see Kyoku run off into the darkness ahead of them.

"KYOKU!! What are you doing?!?!"

"There's nothing you can do now, Kurohyou. The only thing we can do is to follow, and search around for Kyoku."

The took a few moments to catch their breath, put their weapons away, and continued on, deeper into the woods. As they were walking they came upon some tracks. Kurohyou bent down, and studied them carefully, noticing that they were from Kyoku, they followed them. They followed the tracks, for what seemed like an hour or two, until they came upon a cave. Aethelmaer stood at the ready, looking into the darkness of the cave, as Kurohyou got ready.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

As Kurohyou and Aethelmaer stand in front of the cave entrance, Kurohyou calls out for Kyoku into the cave. They here his barks, and the two are determined to enter the cave and see what this "visitor" was.

"Aethelmaer, I recommend that we don't hesitate to strike down anything that gets in our way."

"I agree. Let's go."

The two prepare for the unexpected, and begin to make their way into the cave...

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer and Kurohyou trekking carefully through the dark, dusky cave. They walked down one tunnel, then took a left at a split. Walking a few more minutes, Aethelmaer spots a light ahead of them. Hoping it was a way out, he rushed for it, with Kurohyou following close behind. Aethelmaer came up to the light and found out its source was that of a crack, in the top of the cavern. The light was good, as it illuminated most of the cavern they had found. Looking around, Aethelmaer couldn't find anything and decided to rest a little atop a rock nearby. Kurohyou, determined to find Kyoku, looked closer at the walls. Finding a small niche, where the light didn't reach, he bent down and found a small crawl space.

"Aethelmaer, come here. I have found a small crawlspace, yet I cannot fit in it. See if you can."

Aethelmaer starts to squeeze his way into the small hole in the wall.

"What will you do, Kurohyou?"

"I shall wait here, until your return. Unless that is, I should start searching the other tunnel when it split."

"I don't know if that would be a good idea. If something should happen to the other, we won't be able to help th--"

"Yet, you are leaving me behind because I cannot travel through this small hole in the wall. I will search the other path, if it leads too deep then I will return, and await for you."

"OK. That sounds like a plan. Take caution though. Somehow mark your trail, so if you do get lost, you can find your way back out. Perhaps mark the wall with your sword, or drag a line in the ground."

"Will do. Maybe we'll get lucky and I'll find you on the other side."

"Maybe. All we can do now is hope we can find Kyoku. Good luck to you friend."

"Yes, and the same to you."

The two parted ways, Aethelmaer stood still until the footsteps of his friend were unheard, then continued on into the darkness of the hole.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

Kurohyou then goes down the other tunnel. About a few minutes have passed walking down, and Kurohyou ends up at another fork. With this at hand, Kurohyou decides to rest momentarily to figure out what to do.

"Oh boy, I hope that Kyoku is alright. I hope that he catches whatever that creature wa..."

Then, Kurohyou sees a light at the end of the right pathway. He decides to continue down that path, but first comes up with an idea to lead Aethelmaer into that direction. He searches around and finds two decently sized branches laying on the ground. He then tears off his sleeves and wraps it around the sticks. Next, he took what was left of the Ale that he brought, and poured it into the sleeves. The sleeves are nicely tied, placed on the ground, and then were lit up.

"There, those should last long enough for Aethelmaer to find them. Now, its off down to the end of this path."

Kurohyou finds the hole that is giving off the light. He sees that the entrance is a little small for him, but the rest was just about his size. Then, with a swift movement of the sword, slashes a wide enough opening, then continues on...

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer continued through the small hole, seeing more sunlight ahead. He reached it and looked up noticing a huge portion of the top of the cavern missing. He took another look at his surroundings, and found at a point in the wall, some strange markings, and an indentation in the shape of a medal with a dog on it. All around the room, were blocks with portions of pictures on them, and looking at the floor, noticed a huge mural, with holes, where the picture was missing. An inscription above the indentation read:

The one who completes that which is broken, receives a key that leads beyond where an ancient treasure once stood. He who disturbs that treasure will also be hunted by that which he fears most. Continue with caution, for nothing will stop the forces that be, and the Curse of the Herutenshi shall haunt he for all eternity, until death of either comes upon this world

With that Aethelmaer gathers small twigs, and burnable materials, and starts a small fire, near a larger pathway, leading away from where he entered. This was to ensure that if Kurohyou were to come about, he would know it was Aethelmaer. Now the only thing to do, was to wait and see if Kurohyou would show up.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

Kurohyou continues his way down the tunnel. As he follows the light at the end of the tunnel...he begins to have a pain in his chest. He ignores it and he continues on. When he is almost at the end of the cave, he hears some squeaks from above...it was a colony of bats.

"By the gods, what am I to do?"

Then, he pays close attention to what was happening at the top...it looked like a fire was giving its light off, but just vaguely. Kurohyou now ignores the exit to the tunnel, and wants to go to the top of this airway.

He comes up with an idea to get the bats to exit the entrance, he first tries to place his mythril around his sword...like a shield. Then, he then takes his cup and pours ale into it. He then lights the cup on fire, in order to smoke out the bats. The moment he lights it up, the smoke quickly rises into the airway, the bats awake, and then start to pour their way out of the cave. With Kurohyou blocking himself and one exit out of the tunnel, the bats go out through the caves exit. After they leave, Kurohyou puts his mythril back on and makes his way up the caves airvent.

Kurohyou continues to make his way upward, when he begins to hear voices coming from above him. It sounds as though its Aethelmaer's voice reading a piece of parchment or something, but he can't tell. Anyway, he finally makes it to the top of the airway, and looks down through the hole at the top. He sees that Aethelmaer is sitting looking at a jumbled picture in the ground. Before he could comprehend what was happening, his chest began to burn with extreme pain, and fell through the hole.

As Aethelmaer is quietly sitting, he looks up and sees that Kurohyou begins to plummit down to his postion...

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer was tending to the fire, when all of a sudden he saw Kurohyou fall from above, and with his hand clasped to his chest, Aethelmaer runs over to see if he is alright, and helps him up. After a short explination of what happened, Aethelmaer began to tell of the current situation. After Kurohyou fully understood it, they agreed upon a plan.

"First, let's figure out what this mural is a picture of. Then, we'll have to find out what pieces are missing, and which block holds which picture."

"Sounds like a plan, Aethelmaer."

The two then scouted over the room, and found that the mural portrayed a battle of epic proportions. Showing four gods, of the four elements: Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth, coming together in a massive battle. The two moved block after block, and finding out that each block had 6 pictures on it, each a variation of the same picture. After about 2 hours of grueling work, the mural was only about half done. Every now and again, sounds could be heard, much like those of Kyoku, which only continued their efforts. Finally, the mural was finished. Aethelmaer took a quick look around the room, but nothing had changed. He walked into the sunlight, coming from the crack, and noticed that something did change, it was a small portion of the wall hardly able to be seen, until Aethelmaer saw a glare from its contents. He stepped over, and there it was. The medal with a dog portrayed on it. He took two steps away from the wall, and the wall slid closed again, but another opened, and wolves rushed out and attacked Kurohyou and Aethelmaer.

"Kuro, behind you!"

Just as he pulled out his sword, the wolf jumped on him, already Aethelmaer had his bow out aimed for its head. Just before he let go, he was tackled down himself by another. And out of nowhere, Kyoku came bolting in, tackling the wolf on Aethelmaer, he stood up, and fired an arrow between the eyes of the wolf on Kurohyou, helped him up, and they both took on the remaining wolves, along with Kyoku. The rest of the wolves were easy to finish off. After the battle, Kurohyou petted Kyoku, and he gave off sounds of content, as the two were reunited. Back to the matter at hand, Aethelmaer put the medal into its indentation on the wall, the inscription glowed drawing their attention, as if making them read it again. After a few moments, the wall slid open revealing a chest, a wooden door, and table covered in golden treasures. Aethelmaer stood in awe at the amount of treasure was hidden away. The piece that caught Aethelmaer's eyes the most, was an elegant crown of diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, laid into its crest. It was certainly fitting of a powerful ruler. Next to it, a golden scepter, with intricate designs down the side. Aethelmaer put the crown on, and held the scepter like a noble king.

"What do you think, Kurohyou? Do you think I'd make for a good man of royal blood?"

"It suits you well, my friend. The only thing you need now, is a throne at which to sit upon, and you would be the happiest man alive, wouldn't you?

"If only it were true, not even a rulership would bring such happiness upon me."

With that Aethelmaer put down his treasures and continued to rummage around, as Kurohyou decided to check behind the wooden door.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

As Aethelmaer is looking for anything else within the pile of valuable treasures, Kurohyou becomes attracted to the wooden door behind the pile. He and Kyoku both approach it, as if an energy source was pulling them towards it. Kurohyou sees a plaque next to the door and reads it:

"The burial site of Sephiroth II, General during the First Undead Invasion of Beluaterra. He was a valient soldier, and friend to all. He died in the line of duty serving his realm well. He was brought back to his homeland and was buried deep within the caves of Tara."

Kurohyou was amazed that this man was involved in the undead invasion, and called Aethelmaer over to check it out.

"Well, that's impressive! C'mon Kuro...open up the door and see what is in store for you."

Kurohyou then takes a deep breath, and opens the door. In front of them, laid a sword of unimaginable proportions. Aethelmaer went to touch it, but the moment his hand made contact with it...the sword sent electrical shocks throughout his body.

"Wow!!! I don't know why that happened, do you Kuro?"

"Well, according to this, only those of the ancient bloodline of Sephiroth can only wield it. With that said, I think that I'll give it a go at it."

"Be careful though, Kurohyou. That thing sends shocks so powerful, it'll bring you for a ride." Aethelmaer warned.

"I don't think so, for some reason I have a strange feeling that is surging through my body."

Kurohyou then goes to grab it. The sword gives him a shock, but he refuses to give up. He grabs it with two hands, and was successful in setting it free from its stand.

"Alright, Kuro!! You have a new sword now! But how can you hold as if it were nothing, it looks like its 10 feet long...you figure it would weigh a ton."

"No, shockingly it feels lighter than that of a normal sword..."

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer watched Kuro as he wielded his massive sword, suddenly remembering the small chest on the ground. He walked over to it, and it glowed, but only he could see it. It was a strange glow, radiating a bright light, then a dark evil one. Not waiting any longer, he picked up the small chest, and opened it, to find a book "HimmelnKonig", and underneath it a loose peice of cloth. Tearing it away revealed a small whistle. Upon it's designs was engraved "HimmelnKonig." This amazed Aethelmaer, wondering what this HimmelnKonig was, or just what the whistle would do. He opened up the book, and the first couple of pages were in a mysterious language. He turned another page, and it described "HimmelnKonig." It read: HimmelnKonig of a mysterious language long unheard, Himmeln meaning Sky, and Konig meaning King, symbolizing the King of the Skies ---. Everything after that was blurred out in smeared ink. Aethelmaer turned to Kuro:

"What do you think of this whistle?"

"What's HimmelnKonig?"

"It says that it means King of the Skies. What do you think it means?

"That could mean anything, Aethelmaer."

The two were just about to walk out of the little cove, when the floor dropped out on them and they plummeted down a slide into the darkness...

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer, Kurohyou, and Kyoku were sliding down the slide, when suddenly it let out and they all landed hard on the floor of the cave.

"Is everyone alright?" said Aethelmaer

"Yeah, I'm fine, and Kyoku is alright also."

"That's good. Let's continue on."

As soon as the three stepped out of the little cove they landed in, and entered the cavernous room, their was only one point of light near the other side. It was a door, leading outside. Finally finding the way out, the three started to walk to the door, when suddenly the light started to fade away, and a figure came into view, although the only thing that could be seen was his silhouette.

'"FEAR ME, AS YOU HAVE JUST CURSED YOURSELVES TO YOUR DEATHS. THE CURSE OF HERUTENSHI HAS BEEN UNLEASHED, NOW YOU WILL BE HUNTED. YOU SHALL NEVER AGAIN SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY, ONCE HIS PRESENCE HAS COME UPON YOU."'

Once the booming voice had stopped, the figure then walked away as fast as it came, and the light returned to their eyes. Now a little shaken by the creature's words, they stood their trying to figure their meaning. After a few moments the group decided to leave, and return back to the city.

Roleplay from Kurohyou

Kurohyou, Kyoku, and Aethelmaer run for the doors that the figure went out from. They manage to escape and end up outside, deep within the woods. The three make sure that they are alright.

"Aethelmaer, you don't think that the creature standing in front of us was Herutenshi?"

"Well, he did say that we have sealed our fates by releasing him, so it must have been him."

"Either way, Kurohyou, we are going to have to go back into the city and try to research what this creature is."

Then the three make their way through the forest into the city, ready to begin their research on this demon...

Roleplay from Aethelmaer

Aethelmaer and Kurohyou finally returned to the city after their little skirmish in the caves. The whole way back, they discussed if the creature they had seen was really Herutenshi. They decided to look into the library to find some information on this thing. After a few hours of searching Kurohyou found a book on ancient legends, with a chapter about Herutenshi. They carefully read it and found out that he hasn't plagued the lands since the peaceful times of old. It was always after some major treasure that was found, that he seemed to just spring up. The last treasure was that of a medallion of mystical powers long lost to the depths of the ocean. It was said that the medallion actually sent Herutenshi back to the hells that spawned him, but no one actually knows for sure. They also found out he was a nasty creature, one that wouldn't be taken down very easily. With long sharp claws, the speed of a fox, and the strength of thirty men. It is about eight feet tall, and when standing in its attacking stance he shrinks to about 6 and a half feet. To accompany all of these things, he can also spit out acid to a distance of 20 feet, and with long sharp teeth, can make a quick dinner out of almost anything it chooses. Wincing at the sound of all of this, the two decide to take the rest of the night off, and head back to their tents and rest. For tomorrow, they will plan accordingly to what they have found out, and get to see what their new found treasures can do. Especially Aethelmaer's little whistle.
